Joint and Muscle relief Potion/Lotion

In order to reduce joint and muscle pain a lighter consistency than my salve is required so that the oils can be absorbed rather than sitting on the outside of the skin.

The Cayenne warms the joints and muscles relieving pain while reducing inflammation. The peppermint oil cools and works on the muscles and tendons. The CBD+ oil is one of the best natural cures I have come across which reduces the inflammation and reduces joint pain. It has also been effective as a cure to rheumatoid arthritis.

This potion is also ideal for anyone who has found my slave a little too greasy.

 You will need:

1 cup sweet almond oil

2 Tbs Shay Butter(optional)

2 Tbs Coco Butter

1 Tbs Beeswax pellets

1 cup Vegetable Glceryn

Specific for this cure;

3 Tbs Cayenne Pepper (ground)

1 Tsp Vitamin E oil

20 drops Peppermint oil

23 drops CBD+ oil

Method :

Step 1 - prep the oil.

Place the almond oil and Cayenne into a double boiler and warm over a low heat for half an hour. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Place cling film or a lid on the bowl and leave for three days to infuse fully.

(Tip - If you don't have a double boiler simply use a glass bowl over a pan of shimmering water.)

Then filter to remove the bits. (leaving them in makes the lotion gritty)

(top tip - If you cook this is a great way to make your own chilli oil. )

Step 2 - Melt

Place the infused oil, wax and butters back into a double boiler and heat until everything has melted.

(warning witchy bit read on if you are not interested). While the wax and the butters melt, stir clockwise with the intent that the potion will heal and cure three times then reverse for three with the intent to banish pain. Repeat until everything has melted and you wishes are fully infused. If you are a bones and blood style of witch switch to animal glycerin.

Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly to prevent damaging  the delicate oils.

Add the essential oils.

Step 3 - Emulsify the solution

Place the mixture in a suitable container and using a plunge whisk (or blender),  mix while slowly blending in the glycerine.

The potion will now thicken up to form a smooth cream. In a seasonal twist the chilli makes the mixture pumpkin orange.

Storage :

Place into your containers straight away. The potion remains pourable for only a short time, leave it too long and you will need to spoon it (you also increase the possibility of contamination). As the mixture does not contain any water it will store for the best part of a year unopened.

Tip tips:

Always ensure that all your utensils and containers are sterile. You don’t want water or mould spores getting in.

Replace the ingredients identified above as "specific" to make different cures. Why not try Lavender and Rosemary?

If you find that you would prefer an even thinner moisturiser consistency replace the glycerine with distilled water (Rose water works well) or Aloe Vera gel. However, you will need to keep the solution in the fridge and it will only keep for a few weeks.

Warning: Please ensure if you have an allergy to any of these ingredients that you avoid their use. If unsure undertake a patch test (apply to a small section of skin and leave for 24 hours to ensure you don’t have a reaction).  Note if CBD (which has no drugs just the benefits) is not legal in your area please drop this ingredient.

Current regime... after cleansing & toning.

Got the ATP serum 1/2 price from Superdrug, Hyaluronic essence and the set of 3xminis from the Revolution site, and the moisturiser from Boots a 1/3 off. As soon as Superdrug had their offer most stuff was unavailable, which turned out to be very handy, as I’d never have seen the little pack of tester sizes otherwise.

Morning (with original retail prices);

Spray of Hyaluronic essence (£5.99-£6)

ATP serum (£8)

EGF serum (£5-the box with 3xminis)

Hydration Boost moisturiser (£10)

Gold Elixir (rosehip oil) on my dryest parts (forehead, nose, chin)

(And depending how much oil I use I’ve been using a little MUA Banana Blur [£4] primer as it reduces shine/greasy appearance)

CBD oil all over (avoiding eyelashes as it makes my eyesight fuzzy)

Been using these products for three weeks, aside from the moisturiser, I was using up the last of some other I had open, only been using this for three days. So far I’m unsure what I’d repurchase, mostly because I’ve got lots of other new products I can swap in and out. I do like the facial essence, smells lovely and keeps my skin from feeling tight after washing.

The moisturiser I’ve noticed I’m having to use more than usual. First night I tried the moisturiser with just one thick layer, and no oil, and I had dry peeling skin on my nose by morning, and no dewey feel... since layering it and using the oil it’s better, not perfect, I think it’s consistency lends its self to warmer months, due to the retail price I’d only get more on an offer of some kind, as I have trusted moisturisers for Summer that cost less than half this.

I like rosehip oil, but I’m not keen on the added gold sparkles, it’s not shimmer, I assumed once on the skin it would blend, but you just end up with sparkles. I do have another product (same brand) that uses rosehip oil, so once I’ve used the elixir up I’ll give that a go. Will be buying the MUA primer, once I’ve given a similar item (balm in stick form) from that same brand a try.

*EDIT* Also worth mentioning these products are unscented, but not scent free, the oils leave the scent on my pillow... I’ve read reviews of people really disliking the scent of ATP serum, which is an extract from yeast, I’ve no issues, yes it smells faintly, but does not linger.
