I read a fic where a character reacted with horror to grave dirt as a spell component, and these days that makes me giggle a bit.

When I was working at the cemetery, I was bringing home what felt like ten pounds of the stuff every time I helped bury someone. My shoes were heavy with the stuff-- and consequently, so were my car floor mats, the steps up to my door, and the floor around wherever I peeled off my insulated overalls.

After all that, grave dirt starts to feel about as esoteric as paperclips.

But then, I have to imagine that morticians feel similarly about their own jobs.
