It had become that time again, time to seal himself away for the sake of protecting the world below, and with it came a sense of nostalgia. He’s been through this painful process before with those he recruited from overseas, the sad expressions on everyone’s face as he bore a brave smile ever etched into his memory. Rati’s tears were the most vivid image of them all, and it nearly broke his heart to have to leave her in such a state.

This time, however, it was going to be much more painful than the first time. For unlike before, the Quatre Knights who would seal him away were his dear friends. This was the kind of scenario Aichi had wished to avoid, knowing that those close to him would do all they could to stop him. After all, he can’t blame them for caring about him, even if the whole world’s future was at stake.

Those feelings of his friends had all been entrusted to Kai, who challenged Aichi to a fight to determine the future. Kai faced him with no hesitation in his heart, despite the high stakes. Aichi had given him and everyone else present an ultimatum. If he defeated everyone, Kai, Naoki, Ren and Leon, then they would become the next Quatre Knights and once again seal him away. 

“Aichi...I understand your resolve. If I lose, I’ll become a Quatre Knight and seal you away.

But...I will not lose!”

Aichi still remembers vividly the flames of passion burning in Kai’s heart as when spoke those words, and he knew that he would have to give it everything he had in order to stop him. Using Link Joker on the person he cared about more than any other was hard, but he had stopped thinking about that and instead focused on the bigger picture. Individual happiness and some suffering meant nothing in the face of a threat targeting two worlds, and sealing himself away was the only way to protect them and everyone who lived there.

Even at the cost of Aichi himself...

It was the result of that conflict that’s lead everything to this point, the four knights standing before him now prepared to seal him away. Aichi senses no air that they won’t go through with this. They were, after all, honorable fighters who accepted the terms of their matches and would follow them to the end. Though, it was plain to see they were not happy about this, and...to be honest, neither was Aichi.

This was going to nearly break him in two...

“Naoki, Ren, Leon, Kourin...I...I need to talk to Kai before we begin. I...I promise it won’t take long.” Aichi bears the weak smile, one that was meant to hide his sadness. He doesn’t doubt they can see through the false expression, yet he still does it anyway. Perhaps it’s more for himself than anything, to give him the resolve to...say goodbye to all of them and those who he forced to forget about him.

Seeing his loved ones right in front of him...It was almost too much to bear...

The three knights and the one who took his burdens then left towards the inner chambers of the rebuilt Sanctuary, leaving Aichi and Kai alone with nothing but the view of the planet before. Despite being up here for so long, he had yet to tcake the chance to enjoy the view. Earth surely was beautiful. He hopes it will remain so even long after he’s asleep.

“Kai...” The teen’s voice is so soft and gentle as he says his name, a stark contrast from his serious attitude he had during his fight with him not too long ago. This...This was his last chance to speak to him before he’s gone forever. Aichi knows that after this there is no turning back. Why? Because...Because he knows Kai won’t lose...to anyone.  

Kai will protect him with everything he has for he is the strongest person he knows. Aichi can see it in his emerald hues as he stares at him with fondness, even if he is well aware of how he disagrees with this method. It makes him both as happy and sad as he can be that the other will be there to watch over him, happy that he won’t be alone but sad in knowing how much pain he is causing Kai at this moment.

He wishes there was another way, but...there isn’t. This was the only way, and he is the only one who can stop Link Joker from causing havoc once more. 

He just...He just wishes he had more time...with him. 

Aichi slowly moves forward towards Kai, no hesitation in his movements as he gets closer. Blue locks then fall on the shoulders of the taller man as he rests his body upon the other’s. He feels Kai’s warmth, like a gentle flame that’s in sharp contrast to the coldness he feels. It’s a comfort. He only hopes he can feel that warmth even from behind the seals, like a blanket wrapping around his heart.

“Kai...I’m...I’m sorry...I’m sorry things must be like this. I...I wish I could continue living with you and everyone...However, that...that isn’t what fate had decided for me...or for you.” He sighs, lowering his walls and showcasing the true tragic feelings he’s been holding in. Small tears even well up in his eyes as he tries to get all the words out he can in what time he has left.

“Even though I know this is a selfish thing to ask, please...please take care of Emi and my mom, Kamui, Misaki and Shin, Shingo, Miwa, Morikawa, and...everyone else for me...Please promise me that you will, Kai...” Tears fall onto the other’s jacket, Aichi’s body trembling from the emotions. He can feel himself starting to break, like cracks that form when enough pressure is applied to glass. He hopes he can hold himself together long enough to at least say one last thing, the thing he most wanted to tell Kai.

“I...I can only trust this to you...” His gaze shifts up towards him, softening once again in spite of the tears in his eyes.   

“The...The person that I...” His feet shift upwards, Aichi on his top toes as his faces moves in to the point where his lips are now touching the other’s own cheek.

“The person that I love...with all my heart...”

Thoughts on the new vanguard episode (spoilers ahead)

So, Senka and Nao have amazing chemistry, would definitely work great as a couple and also be great if they continue on as friends.

Since Nao won this round, it seems to imply that Akina will lose his cardfight (they probably didn’t mention that special tiebreaker match in the first episode to have it not be needed). This would be a good opportunity to reveal Akina was possessed by Sybilt. The reasons I think it’s Akina: he’s the only one who hasn’t lost a fated/destined match yet, meaning no chance for Sybilt to be booted out, and his natural red eyes would hide the red glow of being Sybilted. This also means the final deciding match will probably either be Akina vs Kuon, a classic fight between the leader types of the two teams, or an Akina/Hikari rematch, which would be fun, just, having that match up happen twice in a row. This would parallel the Will + Dress tournament, with Yu-Yu losing his first round, but still being the one they trusted to go up against Gui. I think it would be cool to see Hikari save Akina from Sybilt and then Akina turn around and be like “ok, now it’s my turn to save you!” I feel like that’s very in character for them.

Also getting to see Megumi was great, as always.

Overall very excited for next week.

Posting this an hour early but because I finished watching legion mate recently wanted to make a short bad end AU for it. Though it isn't much tbh.

CFV Persona 5 AU

Let's talk about this one! Since this is my first post for this AU, it's mostly spoiler-free as per usual. For reference, here’s the quick summary I wrote before:

Kai moves to a new city for his second year of highschool to escape his past. Unfortunately for him, his normal highschool life already takes a turn for the worst on his first day, when he accidentally stumbles into a different dimension with his classmate, and comes across a talking cat rambling about “palaces” and “phantom thieves”. Despite wanting to stay out of all of this, Kai soon gets sucked into the world of phantom thievery, makes new friends, steals hearts, and maybe saves the world in the process.

This is a fun one. In case you don’t know anything about Persona 5, let me catch you up real quick:

What is Persona 5?

Persona 5: A short summary

Persona 5 is JRPG about a group of teenagers who stumble across an alternate universe called the Metaverse, where the distorted desires of corrupt adults materialize by distorting the places they reign over into so called “palaces”. But through the power of their rebellion against society, our teenage protags gain the power of the Persona, a materialization of their rebellious spirit, which gives them powers to fight in the other world and change the corrupt hearts of the adults.

Now, I don’t want to just copypaste the story of P5 for this AU. My goal is to create a story that can be read, understood and enjoyed by both Persona 5 and Cardfight Vanguard fans without prior knowledge of the other franchise, while still telling an original story. A tall order, I know. But I am nothing if not ambitious.

Characters

- in case you don’t know, the first 5 members of the Phantom Thieves are usually portrayed as its own very tight knitted group. So I thought it would fit really well if they were represented by Team Mates from Legion Mate! - every major character in the story is assigned one of the 22 Major Arcana (I don't have them all figured out yet, ideas welcome). This goes for all the teammates too. - there's 8 Phantom Thieves in canon (with some more additions in the extended universe). This AU will have up to 10 Phantom Thieves. Their identities are already set, but since a new Phantom Thief joins every arc, those would be spoilers, so you'll have to wait and see! - every teammate has a persona (aka a mythological figure, from things like history, religion, literature or even urban myths) that represents their inner self. I don't have them all figured out yet either, but I will likely be reusing already existing ones from the Persona wiki and only make up my own when necessary. Again, ideas welcome. - The magic attacks personas use have different elements. And every teammate has one assigned element. The elements in question are: Wind, Electricity, Fire, Ice, Nuclear, Psychic, Curse, Bless and Almighty. They are already assigned, but feel free to try and guess which character would fit what element! - Everyone's got weapons too. In game everyone has a melee weapon and a gun. I've still left that open, because finding 10 versions of each is bit intense, so I might given everyone either a melee weapon or a gun.

Kai

Arcana: The Fool (as all protags are)

Persona: ??? (as the protagonist, he's a Wildcard, so he has actually more than one persona unlike everyone else, but he would have an original one...)

Element: Fire(? again, he has unlimited personas, but the original one is probably a fire one)

Kai is new to the school here and just wants to be left alone, but then he runs into Miwa! And then they run into an alternate dimension by accident! Whoops. And then Kai awakens to a mystical power, and starts seeing a weird white-haired boy in his dreams talking about "rehabilitation" and "changing the world". He just wants to be left alone, but his new friends have other plans!

Kamui

Arcana: ??? (The Magician perhaps? or The Chariot...)

Persona: ??? (maybe Asura bc of Asura Kaiser, but that seems overpowered)

Element: Wind

so there is a VERY annoying character in the core five, and Kamui is the perfect character to parallel him. :) That character is a simp, and also a cat. So Kamui is a cat in this one. Don't ask. He's just been turned into a cat, and he wants to become a human again, and he simps for Emi. He already knows a bit about the Metaverse and is the second team member, and he works as the initial guide.

Miwa

Arcana: ??? (also a good candidate for Magician, or Lovers?)

Persona: ??? (This one is hard. He doesn't have distinctive avatar card)

Element: Electricity

Miwa gets sucked into the Metaverse alongside Kai on their first day of school. He keeps going along with all the crazy stuff of course, because it's Kai! He awakens to his persona on their second visit there to protect Kai. If it wasn't for him, Kai probably would just hanging out in his room all day (or on a random bench in a park, lol), but Miwa forces Kai to actually build relationships with others.

Misaki

Arcana: The High Priestess (? or the Empress, I'm not set yet)

Persona: Amaterasu (who else? She has been used as a persona before, but she fits Misaki so well)

Element: Psychic

Misaki is member number four. She's the smart one, who does analysis for the team. Miwa is the one who dragged her into the Metaverse on accident. She's overcoming her apathy and striving to get justice for others.

Naoki

Arcana: ??? (The Chariot perhaps?)

Persona: ??? (I have NO idea honestly)

Element: Fire

Naoki's the last core member to join. It's a typical Naoki moment, following people around and stumbling among them being cool and being like "I wanna do that too!". He has a strong sense of justice and is just and all around good bro. I really wanna expand on his relationship with Kai.

Other Notes

- Some non team member characters that Kai forms a relationship with (aka Confidants) are definitely Shin, Mamoru and Ryuzu Myojin. Those provide some perks to make the palace side of gameplay easier. Here it's more for just fun and character building. - A big aspect of P5 is the time management aspect. Do you go to the palace today, or hang out with your friends, or go somewhere to get your stats up? So I might let you, the audience, decide how Kai spends his days. That will mostly mean deciding who Kai will hang out with and form relationships with first. - I still need to figure out the owners of most of the palaces, aka the bad guys. That's the real sticking point. There's only so many human villains in CFV... I might have to take a Persona 4 approach if you know what I mean. - You might notice that there are some major character I haven't mentioned yet. Don't worry. Their time will come...

Yeah so I’m back

blows off dust, gestures at title Yes I dusted off The Old Tumblr just because Twitter’s turning into a dumpster fire trainwreck and that whole “zero content moderation” thing that’s going on over there Will Not End Well. The one thing I always did miss over there was just being able to tag the hell out of the content for sorting/categorizing purposes, plus being able to long format blog because I like doing that sort of thing, so time to do what I like best.

For those of you who didn’t follow me over to Twitter, here’s the rundown:

Moving forward, this blog will be heavily multi-fandom, with main fandoms listed per the header - expect Tales, IDOLiSH7, Cardfight Vanguard (Vanguard Zero and physical TCG, plus Dear Days once that drops in less than 2 weeks), and whatever else catches my fancy, which means right now that’s also Yowamushi Pedal and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury.

Posts will still be tagged as they were before, for ship, series, etc.

Spoiler posts will still be hidden under Keep Reading/Read More (I sure hope they fixed that for mobile!).

Asaka’s loss to Misaki in Season 1, and her short removal from Team Asteroid because it, affected her deeply and still affects her in the present. The culture of Asteroid and her intense devotion to Ren essentially warped her sense of self worth, having her believe if she could not deliver results, that she’d toss aside and abandoned like someone would a broken doll. 

Asteroid is her home. We never ever see her parents, which makes me think she probably was not close to them. Ren, Tetsu, and everyone else in Asteroid is her chosen family, even when the environment was toxic like it was prior to Ren’s loss to Aichi in Season 1. It was all she had. 

It’s why she constantly devotes herself to training, to better her skills so she can continue to be useful and so she won’t be thrown out. She even continues to go out of her way to do things she doesn't need to do as well. This does include what she does for Ren, which is motivated by her care of him (and no doubt Acts of Service are part of her love language) but also no doubt a shade of that fear of hers.

This anxiety and fear doesn’t really go away until she fights Ren when she’s Reversed! in Season 3, when he finally vocalizes how much he cares about her. Asaka lives for verbal affirmations, especially coming from a guy like Ren who is hard to read. If you don’t tell her how she’s doing, then she won’t really know. It’s after she finally hears that clearly from Ren, when he puts himself on the line to bring her back from the Void’s grip, then that the fear of her being thrown out goes away.

She still continues to go out of her way for the organization and for Ren, of course. However, it is no longer in part motivated by fear but rather her deep care and passion. Her anxiety has also gone down exponentially, feeling secure that she won’t be taken away from her home or those she cares about. 

Asaka still keeps up with her training, and her love for Ren grows stronger with every passing day, but she’s much happier than she was before. And that’s really important.
