‘Carmine, wait!’ Talia called, trying desperately to keep his back in view. But the crowd seemed determined to hide him. People surged back to fill the gaps he left in his wake. Part of Talia wanted to bare her fangs, to show them who she really was, but that just would have made things that bit more difficult.

Talia was practically spat from the back of the crowd, and spotted Carmine immediately. With only the most cursory of glances behind her, Talia raced towards him, using some of her power.

She stopped before him, and Car stumbled to a stop. There was a look of hurt in his eyes that broke her heart.

‘It’s all lies, Car,’ she told him, hearing the crack in her voice. ‘Please.’

‘They were drained, Talia,’ he whispered. ‘Len…’ He visibly swallowed. ‘Lennox showed me the pictures.’

‘We’re being framed,’ she told him desperately. ‘An easy scapegoat.’

Car wetted his lips, and for once she thought there was fear in his eyes. Talia took a step back.

‘I just need time,’ he said softly, the hint of a question in his voice.

‘Of course,’ Talia said thickly. ‘You know where I am.’ She offered him a shaky smile before dashing away, feeling the tears burning in her throat.

Random Dialogue Prompt: Misfits and Misinformation (Wednesday)

Lutes arm is a custom carmine special. I also hc that when Carmilla learns about the exorcists she feels bad for em. She makes lutes arm very bird like and the next day a bunch of exorcists are on her doorstep with arms full of angelic weapons. Some want to learn how to make weapons, others want to help with testing and r&d. Some are still wary cause Carmilla was the first to hurt one of them.

Of course Carmilla is a total mom and within a week she’s got em following around like ducklings.

Before they sent them to wrath the hotel was probably the only structure big enough and staffed enough to house em all. For a solid week residents would be tripping over random cuddle piles of exorcists because they’re communal and hate the idea of being isolated from each other (they were offered private rooms).

Yes!! Ok so long post incoming because (mostly via Discord conversation) Carmilla has become a very important figure in this AU and I’m going to ramble.

It started with Lute’s arm. It was clear that it wasn’t going to regenerate, she’s an amputee permanently. It was Vaggie’s idea to ask Carmilla if she could make a prosthetic incorporating angelic steel.

Carmilla was incredibly wary at first, she did kill an exorcist and seeing how defensive they could be of each other she was scared of the possibility that they’d target her for what she did. But Vaggie convinced her and she and her daughters created an arm for Lute. Due to the nature of it, there is a connecting joint implanted in Lute’s shoulder, but her enhanced healing let her bounce back from that quite quickly. The prosthetic can be taken on and off, save for that implanted part.

Seeing the success of Lute’s prosthetic the next exorcist to approach Carmilla was Waffle. He (he’s trans masc) lost the tip of his right wing in the hotel battle and has been grounded ever since. Despite knowing that Carmilla killed Stabitha (as she’s been dubbed) he was willing to risk visiting her without Charlie and Vaggie’s protection on the chance that she could help him fly again.

That prosthetic was not easy to make and he requires a counter weight on his left wing to even him out, but the Carmines managed and Waffle was over the moon.

After Waffle showed off his prosthetic the other exorcists who’d been disabled and/or permanently injured by the battle quickly followed the example and went to Carmilla, requesting more custom prosthetics, braces, and various other aids. (Cygnus a cane and leg brace, Nyx a knee brace, Brick a cane, Flour an elbow and wrist brace, etc).

This new found comfort with the Carmines prompted more social visits, and exorcists like Lull quickly found a place helping them test out their designs. (Lull and Odette got banished to one of the factories on the edge of the Carmine’s territory after a bit to much structural damage). And while Carmilla ends up being a mom to the whole flock, she fully adopts an exorcist named Bishop. (If people want to know about them I’ll make another post.)

Carmilla ends up opening a branch of her business dedicated to medicine and hell steel prosthetics and aids for sinners and hellborn who may not be able to afford something of the same quality from Sloth. This gives her financial security with the loss of angelic steel supply, and expands her influence both in and out of the Pride ring. Long story short, Carmilla’s compassion and ability to love others (rare among sinners) is what causes her to become the single most powerful Overlord in Pride.

Ok ramble over! I’m ending it here because this is getting really long and there’s honestly a small essay worth of things I could add.

JOAQUIN COBALT (THE UNTITLEDVERSE)

This feels accurate for Joaquin considering he begins The UnTitledverse as an adolescent, and the series follows his growth and youth to adulthood. Joaquin has the weight of the world (or rather multiverse) on him, but, he still has time to be a child, to be a teen, to be his own identity, with Maisie, Mario, Calvin and all his found family and friends to share the weight.

SILVA OMAR (THE SILVER CHRONICLES [FAR CRY 5 & FAR CRY NEW DAWN])

Religious themes (including the trauma) for Silva go brrr! Like what else is there to say?

HAOYU ANABUKI (LIFE, DESPAIR & MONSTERS)

Yeah this makes sense for them. Haoyu is someone who's not used to love and when it comes it is gonna be the most life-changing thing for them. For once something they will have to make a commitment towards keeping if they want it. Haoyu is also the type to go in a panic as well as overthink; including full-on denial.

MARISSA "RESS" BISHOP (A RADIOACTIVE CALAMITY OF LOVE, BOMBS & GORE [FALLOUT])

While this definitely suits Ress at her best, I don't think it encapsulates everything about her. Because while Ress' love is bountiful and ageless and endless... there's also the fear of losing it all, because Ress will outlive everyone she knows because her own natural mortality outlasts everyone else's. The only person that would be around the longest with her (and meet her at what would be considered old age for a hybrid species like them) would have been her older half-brother, Ore... but even that is cruelly taken away from her by their father Urias and his Occult. Yeah, so while this definitely does shine a light on the happiness and thrill Ress would feel with her lover (prime example being Piper), it doesn't acknowledge the grief she'd eventually have to face.

The most likely characters in the original trilogy to be related to the covey, in my opinion, is Gale's family and in this post, I will explain my theory, using etymology.

The Importance of Names

In the covey, each character has a two-part given name and a surname, each with specific importance. This follows the traditions of both Appalachian and Romani people, who the Covey are based off of.

The first name is after a ballad. Lucy Gray is after "Lucy Gray" by William Wordsworth. Barb Azure is named for Child Ballad 84, "Bonny Barbara Allen"; Tam Amber and Clerk Carmine are also named after Child Ballads (39 and 42). Maude Ivory is named for "Maude Clare" by Christina Rosetti. Billy Taupe may have been for "Billy in the Darbies" by Herman Melville or "The Ballad of Billy the Kid" by Billy Joel, or possibly both. While not all these characters' stories take as much inspiration from their ballads as that of Lucy Gray and while no character in the covey should be called simply by this first name, it is still important.

The reason no character should be called by their first name only is because the second name is the one that truly connects them to their community - and loved ones may even use just this second name as a nickname/term of endearment. Lucy Gray was named for the gray of winter, Maude Ivory for the ivory of the piano, and Barb Azure for the serene color of the sky. Second names should never go unmentioned because doing so separates the character from their community.

The surname is after profession. Baird is for bard.

Where do the Hawthornes come in?

First, I should mention that I believe that Gale is related to the covey through his mother, not his father, so the name "Hawthorne" will not be brought up.

Hazelle Hawthorne is Gale's mother, and her name within the books is just that: "Hazelle". Perhaps, having the name of a color is not enough to connect her to the covey but it sure is interesting. Was the tradition of two names lost before her birth? Or is she referred to as Hazelle because that is Katniss, a girl she is practically family with, knows her as such? I have some ideas for the ballad that she could be named after, though nothing will ever be set in stone, but I do like the name "Hazelle" for her. The color seems to emit so much warmth and comfort, as does her character in the books.

As for her children, it is clear that the traditions of the covey have died by now, but I still see significance in their names. Gale is a word commonly associated with old tales and ballads, a specific one being Child Ballad 80, "Old Robin of Portingale". The word also has meanings associated with madness and extremism, but also with nature, i.e. gale-force winds. The covey was particularly fond of nature and often they are named in relation to it. Rory is a name that means "red king" or simply red, which follows the once traditional second names of the covey. Vick could either be the Old French occupational name meaning "bishop" and if this were Hazelle's maiden name, it implies a perhaps her family had a religious role within the covey, or it could refer to Victory, a common theme in many ballads. Posy is another nature name, after the bouquets, however it is quite interesting because posies have at times been used to send secret messages - was her name an act of rebellion? Was Hazelle already invested in the idea of rebellion at the time of Posy's birth? And what group within Didtruct 12 would be most interested in rebellion after the death of Lucy Gray?

While there is no way to confirm it, I am convinced that Hazelle and her children are related to the covey. And it doesn't even mean that Katniss cannot be related to Maude Ivory. After all. Her and Gale are "cousins", right? 😂😂

BLUE HARBOR'S 44TH ANNUAL PRIDE EVENT.

Blue Harbor Pride presents a wide array of activities to celebrate Pride, including its infamous Parade, where all roads will lead to a festival full of fantastic fun! From live bands performing on our Rally Stage, bar space, street food and other local vendors, the town will not just be blue for the day, but an array of bright colors that provides a safe, positive place for all of us to sing, dance, party and celebrate who we are!

LOCATION: Cardinal Hill, Blue Harbor.

DATE: June 23rd, 2024.

PARADE TIME: 11am - 12pm.

FESTIVAL TIME: 12pm - 7pm. Celebrations and special sales continue into the evening in nearby bars & restaurants.

RALLY STAGE TIME: 3pm - 10pm.

The parade begins at Blue Harbor City Hall heading south on Central Row. It makes a left on Bishop Street towards the river, then left on Finch Street. It continues north on Carmine Way to Nightingale Avenue, where it turns right and ends at the festival grounds. The parade features floats from local businesses such as Aurora, Tres Amigos, and Happy Tails, marching bands and enthusiastic Blue Harbor residents.

Following the parade's conclusion, make your way over to the festival grounds where multiple community groups distribute a wide variety of information, including job opportunities, housing options, disease prevention and screening, legal rights and services, etc. Inside there will also be local vendors selling pride-themed product where a portion of the profit goes directly towards said community groups! Admission is $10, cash only.

An admission wristband also grants you access to our Rally Stage, where you can catch live performances of all sorts thanks to the sponsorship and help of 104.5 Harbor FM and eager station employees!

If you get hungry, there is also a food court located within the festival grounds, featuring trucks from Blue Harbor favorites.

HAPPY TAILS — A float featuring all beloved furry friends, the pet shop will also have a stall up at the festival to give guests a chance to paw-lunteer, as well as the opportunity to purchase limited-edition Pride merchandise for their own pets!

THE LABYRINTH — The artisanal cocktail bar will be providing specially themed cocktails at the festival! All proceeds will be going to the various community groups being supported by this year's festival.

CHARACTER PORTRAITS — Bringing architectural precision to the delicate art of portraiture, renowned architect and Blue Harbor University lecturer Terry Lowenstein will be offering 10-minute live sketch portrait sessions at Blue Harbor's Pride Event. Their booth will be open from 3 to 6 pm, and all donations (recommended in the range of $15–$20) will go towards supporting Blue Harbor's community groups in need.

Her familial setting is rather unique as her eldest sibling serves as the beacon of the community, proclaimed as a deity and worshipped by the townsfolk. Upon attaining the status of a religious icon at the tender age of 16, Mihori's older brother fell prey to the exploitation of the local bishop, causing the Inoue household to be engulfed in chaos and neglect their children, leading them to be raised by a homeschool teacher or a babysitter. The Inoue family emerged as a figure of authority, causing neighboring settlements to be envious, resulting in the decision to assassinate the heads of the household. Ultimately, they escaped to Japan, their mother's nation of birth, and assumed responsibility for the Inoue residence, which was destined to be inherited.

Appearance Although Mihori inherited the purple hair genes from her paternal family, she detested how it clashed with her vibrant red eyes, causing her to become self-conscious about her appearance. This led her to dye her hair a pitch-black shade, to make it conform to her fierce red eyes. It can be noted that she happens to be pale like her other family members, with the reason being the anemia that runs in the family.

Despite her cunning nature, she possesses a gentle and caring heart that has won the affection of those who have gotten close to her. She can be quick to dish out revenge on those who harm her loved ones, but this is a result of the circumstances she was raised in and her innate empathy. Aside from her manipulative streak, she is a lively and spirited individual who struggles with anxiety and uses her charming smile to mask her inner turmoil. 

Good Habit(s): One of her notable traits is her propensity for cleanliness, as she dislikes messiness and disorder. She has a habit of finishing her assigned tasks early and even going above and beyond, delivering them a day or two days earlier than the intended deadline. Possessing an innate ability to maintain harmony within a group and soothe tense situations, she is a master of diffusing hostility and offering sound advice. Bad habit(s): Although Mihori's passion for tidiness is well-known, there is an unfortunate flip side to this virtue. In an excessively messy environment, she can become overly stressed and irritable. She even risks descending into an unstable mental state, as her overwhelming desire for order can push her to the brink of madness, causing her to engage in detrimental behaviors such as self-injury. One of her most frequent forms of self-harm is digging her fingernails into her legs and scratching them until they bruise, or using a sharp object to slice open the padding of her feet. THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT ANDREW CORSINI The Carmelite Bishop Who Fight Against Civil Disorder and Riots Feast Day: February 4

"Virgin Mother, because I am thy servant. I will unceasingly serve thee."

Born on November 30, 1302, Andrew Corsini was one of twelve children and a member of the noble Corsini family. He was named after St. Andrew the Apostle as his birthday was on the saint's feast day and his parents dedicated him to God. Andrew spent his early years in youthful revolt against his parents until his parents rebuked him so strongly that he decided to spend the rest of his life trying to live a holy life. In particular, his mother had a dream before his birth that she told him at 17 - that she had given birth to a wolf that would eventually become a lamb when it walked into a Carmelite church.

Despite his friends begging him not to join, Andrew joined the Carmelite Monastery at the Santa Maria del Carmine church in 1318. For the next 10 years her strengthen his prayer and spiritual life and was ordained to the priesthood in 1328. At the time, it was customary to celebrate a priest's mass with family and friends - Andrew celebrated his first Mass in a hermitage so that he could avoid this tradition. He studied in Paris and then Avignon (where his uncle was serving as Cardinal) and was appointed the provincial of Tuscany in 1348.

Pope Clement VI appointed Andrew the bishop of Fiesole on October 13, 1349 and he immediately went into hiding, hoping to avoid being named bishop. On his tomb, an inscription retells this event: 'he was snatched from the Carmel to the church and the miter of Fiesole.'

As bishop, Andrew did not relax his austerity but rather doubled it. He strictly enforced discipline with the diocesan priests, slept on a bed of vine-branches and wore an itchy hair shirt. He became so well known in the area as a peacemaker that Pope Urban V sent him as papal legate to Bologna to help settle strife between the ordinary citizens and the nobility there.

As he celebrated Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, 1373, Andrew reported that he had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary who told him he would be departing this world on Epiphany. The following day he became ill and as foretold, he died on January 6, 1373. He was buried on February 1374 and when his remains were exhumed in 1385, his remains were found to be incorrupt.

Andrew Corsini was beatified by Pope Eugene IV on April 21, 1440. Famously, prayers for his intercession were answered with the Florentine victory over the Milanese at the Battle of Anghiari in June of the same year. He was formally canonized by Pope Urban VIII on April 22, 1629. A relative much later in life, Pope Clement XII (born as Lorenzo Corsini) erected a chapel dedicated to Saint Corsini in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran.

He is honored as the patron saint of diplomats, against riots and civil disorders, and of Fiesole.

Bish is the youngest of the exorcists, created essentially as Vaggie’s replacement to being the flock back up to 200. They were taken under the wings of Wish and Dish, the youngest of the original exorcists and the closest thing to identical twins that existed in the flock.

Bish was three years old when the hotel battle happened, and a very inexperienced fighter having only been through three exterminations. Wish died from a spear that had been aimed for Bish, and her death distracted Dish enough that a cannibal was able to stab her.

Bish survived the battle but found themself alone. The rest of the flock were busy with their sibling groups and Lute, the leader, wasn’t really able to give any one person much attention since she had to take care of all of them while also dealing with her own mental decline.

Once in Hell Bish grew close to Odette and and Clara, and ended up simply leaving the exorcist’s nest and moving in with the Carmines. It took two weeks for the exorcists to realize this, and Carmilla gave Lute a serious talking to for not noticing that one of the people she was supposed to take care of had left. Lute still feels like shit for failing Bish like that, even though Bish doesn’t blame her and understands that Lute was dealing with way to much for one person.

The Carmines introduced Bish to the concept of being non binary, and Carmilla suggested the name change to Bishop. It kept the name that Wish and Dish had known while also severing Adam’s cruel tie to it. Bishop is quite happy being part of the Carmine family and has formed a new sibling group with Odette and Clara. They still miss Wish and Dish deeply and always will, and hope that wherever their souls went when they died they’re happy.

The old church dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Crotone, Italy.

The convent and the church were abandoned until in 1672, at the request of the Carmine confraternity, which had continued to exist, Bishop Caraffa himself lifted the ban on the church, blesses it, places the bell there and assigns two priests for the celebration of two masses a week.

This is how the event is described in a document of the time: “The church of S.t Mary of Carmel outside the walls of this city was once a monastery of Carmelite Fathers, which having been suppressed in the majority of the others with the Pope's bully Innocent Tenth, due to the small income he had, as there were some pious legates from various people for the souls of the deceased, some priests were assigned by the Sacred Congregation to satisfy the obligation of the masses and afterwards they were also paid by order of the Sacred Congregation itself. Congregation accumulated for the benefit of the seminary of this city and due to the carelessness of those who had thought of it in those times only the servitio was left in that church, but two years in this part at the request of the confreres and bursars of the same church which also in time which was interdicted, they were chosen every year and solemnized the feast, the Bishop re-blessed the church and placed the bell there and assigned two priests for the celebration of two masses a week, that is, one on Wednesday and the other on Sunday in fulfillment of the ancient obligations that the brotherhood held and moreover there is an almost daily lack of masses of devotees and particularly on Wednesdays and Sundays a large part of the city is there for the devotion that two hermits have and continually assist you who live in the rooms where the olim Fathers lived Carmelites and every year the Carmel festival is celebrated in the church with every solemnity and participation of the majority of the city.”

At the end of the eighteenth century, "in a casino located near the marina called del Carmine", sailors and shipwrecked people who arrived in the city were placed in absentia. Then "a building was attached to this large and resistant church for convenience of the hermit who used it", the church which had been rebuilt again, in 1795 was governed by the son of the founding citizen. Damaged by the earthquake of 1832, due to the interest of G. M. Messina and P. Berlingieri, it was restored. Bishop Todisco Grande in 1847 tried to revive it by entrusting it to 3 Capuchins and 2 lay people, but they abandoned it almost immediately. It remained abandoned until in 1887 a storm ruined its façade and right wall. This is how it appeared at the end of the century with a dome of colored tiles and threatening ruin.

These are the OCs that I came up with, concept and all. Those from others that I added in as a reference or ones I only gave names to will not be included here.

Seedsout- a package of strawberries. Clear plastic container, bright red berries at the peak of freshness.

Brunch Crunch- a cereal box. A brownish-orange color, no mascot character.

Ta-noy- a tannoy system speaker. A shade of brown, close to the color of the walls, but not quite the same thing.

Meow Chow- a bag of cat food. Yellow-orange, bot mode has cat-like features(ears, claws, and tail).

Lovechecker- a daisy.

Laverem- a lavender plant.

Bulbina- a tulip(pink).

Orleroad- a bottle of bourbon.

Uisge- a bottle of scotch.

Hopslet- a bottle of beer.

Amadora- an angel trumpet.

The print shop owner(Carmin Fanzoné)- knows of the bots in his store, but isn't fond of them. In the event that he shows up again, expect him to say the line(if you've seen TFA, you know the one).

Lyceri- a glycerin bottle. Off-white bottle, clear liquid.

Cindy Rook/Cynthia Bishop- leader of a group that consists of people that were friends and family to members of M.E.C.H. Said group wants Cybertronians to leave Earth alone as much as possible, though they aren't as much of a concern as their predecessors. She looks like her father in a very specific way- you won't notice it until you know to look for it, and then it's all you see.

Valencia: Once a mannequin head bot, now a human. In bot mode, looks like a business chic version of Jacqueline. In human form, still business chic, dark hair, olive skin, and little makeup.
