Open Defaults
Open Defaults #DefaultNudges #ChoiceArchitecture
Our society has a lot of defaults, and for many of us, we only opt out of the default in a narrow set of circumstances. Whether it is our mode of travel, how we pay for goods, or the type of health insurance plan we are enrolled in, the default option makes a big difference in our lives. Actors within our political and economic systems know this, and the choice of default can matter a lot to…

Better decision-making for the planet – Yasemin Saplakoglu
We might think we have control of the mix of decisions we make during the day. But it turns out that our brain gives us subconscious nudges, preferring some choices over others.
Elke Weber, the Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment, studies how the science of human behavior can inform policies that encourage…

Acknowledging Nudges
Acknowledging Nudges #ChoiceArchitecture #TransparentNudges
In the book Nudge, Cass Sunstein and Richard Thaler argue that it is impossible to avoid and eliminate nudges. Whenever people have a choice to be made, someone else has a hand in shaping how that choice is presented and structured. Even if a choice architect were to strive to maximize choice and decision-making autonomy in the chooser, subtle factors will influence the chooser and nudge them in…

#LivingSugarFree #HumpdayShift #SelfActualization Whether it's your home office, car, planner, an old fashioned filing system, or the cloud that you're lost in like the Matrix... There's no one way to organize. I prefer a place for everything and everything in it's place. Insert life, spouse, children, employees, and etc. it's not always realistic. Having a system, plan, key, and how to get back on track when things pile up is the trick. Schedule regular times to regroup and reorganize because it will always get away from you. Commit to investing in the process. Have fun with it. Do it your way, so it appeals to you (I. E. system, mediums, colors, etc.). What others think or how theirs looks shouldn't be part of your process. Files are no good if you never use or have quick access to them. Make sure your tools suit you and work for you. #HumpdayShift #discipline #organization #procrastination #DIYHeadExtraction #choicearchitecture (at The XStream Network Live)
