Hello, friends! I'm in a hurry to show you my new design for Christmas. This is a pattern for cross-stitch with a cat and snowflakes around. It is quite small - only 70 * 70 crosses, which is about 5*5 inches for 14 canvases. I plan to dismiss it in the near future. I think this ornament will look great in small round hoops on a Christmas tree.
You can find this pattern on my web site: https://smasterilli.com/product/winter-cat-and-snowflakes-cross-stitch-pattern-pdf-easy-christmas-ornament-0422/

Kid-friendly holiday crafts !! 🐣 I've created a list of all the crafts i want to do this year for the holidays. Most of them are kid-friendly as well and especially fun to do with regressors 💕 I've also included difficulty ratings of one to three stars. If a craft is more difficult littles might need some extra help to make them ! Homemade Gift Wrapping Difficulty: 🌟 Such a cute and easy way to make Christmas more creative !! And a good way to use the cute paper and stickers I've been hoarding all year because I don't know what to do with them 😖
Tumblr media
Felt Christmas Cookie Ornaments Difficulty: 🌟🌟🌟 These ones are a little tricky but they're so cute, I love the colourful beads on them that look like sprinkles !! And a Christmas tree would look so good with lots of these hanging up🎄
Tumblr media
Scented Salt Dough Ornaments Difficulty: 🌟 I only gave these a one star difficulty because they're very easy to make. But keep in mind that they do use the oven ! Other than that, they're cute and smell nice, it's like the best of both worlds 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christmas Bunting Difficulty: 🌟🌟 I love bunting, not only Christmas themed, but all year round !! It's my favourite wall decoration and makes my room feel like I'm having a party every day 🎉
Tumblr media
I also found some other bunting patterns in different shapes, these ones are more holiday themed ! But that means that they're a little more difficult to make. Here's the links for star and Christmas tree patterns. Difficulty: 🌟🌟🌟
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And also, another one because I just love bunting. This one's Christmas tree shaped but is much easier because it doesn't require any sewing ! Difficulty: 🌟
Tumblr media
Gingerbread House Gift Wrapping/Advent Calendar Difficulty: 🌟 These ones are very similar so I grouped them together. Decorating brown paper bags with white markers to make little gingerbread houses ! Which you can use for wrapping presents but also to make a whole village for an advent calendar 🏡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fabric Paperchains Difficulty: 🌟🌟🌟 I love paperchains but they always tear when I try to make them. These one's won't though and because they have velcro you can mix and match the patterns when you get bored of them 💭
Tumblr media
Gingerbread House Card Difficulty: 🌟 You can probably tell I love gingerbread houses. I just think they're so cute and Christmassy ! And it would be so fun to make these cards but also everyone would be so happy to receive such a cute card ! 🌈
Tumblr media
And that's all !! I might update this post as I see more crafts during the month but I think this is a good list to start off with. Also if anyone does any of these please post a picture ! I'd love to see them 🥰💖

My partner really loves Mari Lwyd, so for this year's holiday card I had a wild idea.
It started with a printout of a horse skull, which I sort of mapped out the bone structure of in a few different layers.
Tumblr media
Then I started cutting the different layers and stacking them to give it some depth.
When I had the general skull shape, it was time to make teeth. Now, I've done a lot of wild crafting stuff but let me tell you, there's something very cursed about carving teeny individual horse teeth out of cardstock, then using tweezers to glue them in place.
Tumblr media
Once I had the skull, I gave the shadows a bit of a run with a pencil and blended that into the cardstock for some dimension.
Tumblr media
Now it was time to finish it off. I used tissue paper to fold and mold like fabric and braided some ribbons to decorate. Found a random rhinestone for the eye and...
Tumblr media
Ta-da! I love the final product 😍

Linked Universe-themed stockings!! Wanted to get all the Links/Link-adjacent characters :3 Late for Christmas, but ready for next year!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doll-sized and usable, I'm so proud of how they turned out. Next year's project is probably going to be some ridiculous fireplace apparatus that fits at least 14 stockings... or more because now I wish I'd done Spirit Tracks Link, Cadence of Hyrule Link, etc '^^
Inspired by, and following the guide of, Dollightful! vvvvv

An easy activity to plan/execute for Littles who believe in Santa
I covered for a coworker at last year's winter festival at our elementary school and the craft she had was genius.
What you'll need:
A bag of plain instant oatmeal (uncooked!)
A large bowl for the oatmeal
1 or more baking scoopers
Glitter of as many colours as you'd like
A ziplock bag
What to do:
Give each participatting kid a ziplock bag. They then scoop some oats and sprinkle glitter on it.
What did you just make?
Reindeer food! :D
You sprinkle it outside your house the night before Christmas so they have a tasty snack to eat while Santa delivers human goodies. (plus the glitter helps tell them where to land like an airplane runway). :)
I had a couple kids worry about whether it was safe for reindeer to eat glitter and my response was that this was special reindeer-safe glitter (we checked!). It's not safe for humans but for reindeer it's fine; kind of like dog biscuits.
They seemed to find my explanation pretty legit and solidly logical.

Albert the Christmas Star
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! This is Albert.
You can see how he was made here!
Materials we used:
Upcycled shiny fabric that was a gift bag from some random purchase as top fabric (strange but often where I get novelty fabric scraps)
Used shirt with holes on it as lining fabric
Random non-stretch fabric as Albert's guts
Poly fill (best to use the silky smooth kind)
Recycled poly batting from grocery delivery padding material as core wool (or other coarse poly fill would also work)
Carded acrylic yarn in yellow as top wool (hand-carded with a cat hair remover thingy)
Glass sewing pins
Polyester sewing threads
Some paper and pencil for mock-up
Optional: jingle bells from abandoned cat toys
Tools we used:
Sewing needles
Felting needles
Seam ripper
Scissors
Wire cutter
Felting foam platform (recycled packaging materials)
To make Albert:
Tumblr media
Use shiny fabric.
Tumblr media
Cut fabric into a star shape with a flat bottom (for his bum).
Tumblr media
Line your star cut-out with your liner fabric (you may skip this part if you feel like your shiny fabric is strong / thick enough).
Tumblr media
Sew the star with back-stitch. Leave the bottom hole open.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flip that star through the bottom hole and set it aside.
Tumblr media
Draw a mock-up of Albert's face and cut a few layers of poly batting in approximately his shape. If you are using poly fill instead, you can skip this part and start needle felting a rough base shape shown in next step.
Tumblr media
Stab it some.
Tumblr media
To speed up the felting of the base, use soap and hot water to gently massage it until it starts feeling noticeably more felted. You may skip this step if you have more patience than me at stabbing.
Tumblr media
Add facial features with core wool such as cheeks, chin, and forehead.
Tumblr media
Add top wool.
Tumblr media
As well as smaller facial features like lips.
Tumblr media
Cut glass pins to length so they don't poke through the face. Bend them downward a little and pin at a slight angle downward so they more secure (than poking them straight towards the back).
Tumblr media
Sew your optional bells at the five tips of Albert’s body.
Tumblr media
Stuff Albert with poly fill.
Tumblr media
Sew Albert's face on his body. Put him aside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Albert's guts, it's just a small pocket. Cut out a piece of rectangle that is roughly the width of his bottom hole and cut the length at double however long your christmas tree tip is. Mine was around 6ish" long that folded into a 3" deep pocket. Sewn with running stitch back and forth.
Tumblr media
Flip his gut pocket inside out. Shove it at his bottom. Sew it onto its body (make sure to sew it to the top and lining fabric together for strength cause that part will need it).
Tumblr media
And you have yourself an Albert*.
*Albert means noble and bright!
