Desert Flower Part 26
Gaara vs. Sasuke,
"From your excitement, I guess you won the first round." Sasuke asked Naruto.
"Of course!" Naruto grinned.
"Well, we showed up all flashy like, but could Sasuke have been disqualified?" Kakashi asked the examiner.
"Your tardiness is contagious." The examiner said to Kakashi.
"So, is he?"
"Don't worry, we pushed Sasuke's fight till the end. He's not disqualified." The examiner smirked.
"That's good! That's good!" Kakashi smiled before glancing up at Gaara.
"Don't lose to a guy like that." Naruto said to Sasuke.
"Yeah." Sasuke nodded.
"And Sasuke...I want to fight you too!" Naruto shouted. Sasuke smiled. The people up at the stadium roared in excitement.
"HEY, IS THAT THE PRODIGAL UCHIHA!?"
"THE UCHIHA FIGHT IS GOING TO START!"
"Gaara, get down here!" The examiner called out to Gaara.
"Naruto, let's go back up. We're in the way." Shikamaru told Naruto and walked away.
"Yeah." Naruto nodded and followed after Shikamaru.
"And this time we'll take the stairs."
"What? Are you still mad because I gave you a little push!" Naruto grinned.
"Hey, Gaara, do you understand the plan-" Temari quickly covered Kankuro's mouth.
"Don't talk to Gaara right now." She whispered to him. "You'll be killed!" Yuri glanced over at Gaara, silently, as she saw him walked away, heading down to the arena. She gripped the railing, tightly. Why was she getting a bad feeling about this?
"Come on! Hurry up!" Naruto shouted.
"I'm coming." Shikamaru replied. Then Naruto stopped as they head up the stairs heading back to the waiting area. "Hey, what's wrong?"
There were two grass shinobi, standing in the middle of the hall, blocking Gaara.
"Stop." one of the Hidden grass ninja spoke.
"The Chunin exams are great for betting. Many investors are here for that." The second one smirked, darkly.
"And so...This fight, could you lose it?"
Naruto's eyes widen in horror and so did Shikamaru when they hear the terrified screams from the two shinobi until they went silent. Gaara slowly walked towards Naruto and Shikamaru. Neither of them moved an inch and Gaara passed them, heading down the stairs. Shikamaru sighed and fell down on the steps and so did Naruto.
"If we were only a second earlier, that would've been us just now." Shikamaru spoke, trembling. "I've never seen a guy kill without hesitation. I think Sasuke might be in some trouble."
Gaara walked out, stepping into the arena and faced Sasuke. The two of them glared at each other.
"Now, it's time." the examiner spoke. Sasuke narrowed his eyes at Gaara, keeping his eyes on him, waiting. Gaara made a dark laugh. "Begin!"
Suddenly, Gaara cried out in pain, holding his head, as a migraine hit. Sasuke frowned, silently, watching Gaara.
"Don't...get so angry." Gaara groaned, painfully, holding his head. "Mother. I've fed you some nasty blood earlier. I'm sorry. But this time...it will be delicious."
"He's finally talking to it. This is bad." Kankuro murmured.
"Conversation? What do you mean?" Yuri questioned. "Are you talking about the beast inside of him?"
Temari and Kankuro both blinked, looking at Yuri, who was waiting for an answer.
"What's wrong with Gaara?" She asked them.
"I've never seen him act like this before. Is this Sasuke a really powerful opponent?" Temari asked. Gaara dropped his arms and looked up at Sasuke.
"Come." Gaara spoke, narrowing his eyes at Sasuke.
"Fine. I'll come to you." Sasuke threw some shurikens at Gaara. Gaara sand moved, blocking the weapons. Then the sand slowly began to transform, turning into Gaara.
"His shield turned into a sand clone?" Temari gasped. Sasuke charged at Gaara. The sand clone shot out sand at Sasuke and Sasuke quickly jumped into the air. Then Sasuke threw some more shurikens when the sand clone threw back the shurikens that Sasuke had thrown earlier, deflecting them. Sasuke tried to land a kick into the clone, but it caught Sasuke's leg. Sasuke quickly spinned, placing his hands on the ground, and landed a punch. The clone absorbed the attack.
Sasuke threw his other arm back and punched in clone, destroying it, and charged at Gaara. Gaara made a wall of sand appear in front of him, getting ready for Sasuke's attack. Sasuke smirked and quickly vanished and appeared right behind Gaara. Gaara's eyes widened in shock.
"He's fast! Just like him...!" Before he could move his sand to block, Sasuke landed a punch into Gaara's cheek, knocking him down. Gaara got up and pieces of his armor slowly began to crumble away from his face.
"So that's your sand armor, eh?" Sasuke asked then he flicked his hand, taunting Gaara. "Come on."
Gaara didn't move. Sasuke vanished again and quickly appeared behind Gaara again. Gaara tried to move his sand to protect himself. But Sasuke managed to break through and landed a kick into Gaara's chest, knocking him back.
"What's wrong? Is that it?" Sasuke smirked. Then Sasuke quickly rushed at Gaara and began to spin fast around him. Gaara couldn't keep up with Sasuke's speed. Sasuke quickly ducked as he dodged Gaara's sand and landed a kick into Gaara's face. Then he grabbed Gaara by his shirt and kneed Gaara in the stomach. Gaara was knocked back, falling to his knees on the ground. He glared up at Sasuke, panting. More pieces of his sand armor began to crumble away. Gaara stood up and quickly made a hand sign.
The sand rose and began surrounding Gaara, forming into a dome, encasing Gaara inside. Sasuke rushed towards the dome, trying to land a hit, but didn't break through it. The sand had become hard like a rock. Spikes made of sand shot out as it tried to impale Sasuke. Sasuke backed up, standing a few feet away from the dome.
Yuri saw Temari and Kankuro were starting to get more panicked and had a look of fear in their eyes.
"What's wrong?" She asked them. But they didn't answer her. Yuri grabbed Temari by her shoulder, shaking her, snapping Temari out of her trance. She turned to Yuri. "Temari, tell me what's going on!?"
Temari quickly looked back to the match and Yuri looked as well to see a flying eyeball, floating around the dome.
"Damn it, Gaara." Temari cursed under her breath. Yuri recognized it, immediately. It was the same eyeball that Gaara used to spy on her. Sasuke tried to land another kick at the dome but made no dent to it. Sasuke backed flipped and hopped up onto the wall and made a hand sign.
"Damn...once he's like this there's nothing that can be done." Temari spoke. "Does Gaara want to mess up the plan?" Kankuro turned to her. "Temari!" He shouted. Temari's eyes widen and both of them looked at Yuri, seeing that she had overheard what Temari said.
"Plan?" Yuri questioned. "What plan? What are you talking about?"
Then Yuri heard the sound of sparks of electricity and turned back to see Sasuke's hand, emitting electricity from it. Sasuke quickly ran down the wall, heading directly at the dome. Sasuke slammed his fist right into the dome, breaking through it.
"Chidori!"
"Gaara!" Yuri shouted.
"It can't be..." Temari spoke in disbelief.
"No way! He broke through Gaara's absolute defense!" Kankuro exclaimed, shocked as well. There was a long silence before an ear-piercing shriek of pain and fear screamed out.
"BLOOD! IT'S MY BLOOD!" Gaara screamed. Temari, Kankuro and Yuri's eyes widened in shock.
"He's been hurt!" Temari shouted. Sasuke's eyes widened when he felt something grab his arm. He tried to pull it out but couldn't. Sasuke unleashed another chidori, shocking Gaara. Sasuke quickly jumped back. But when he did, a large arm made of sand came out as well, still holding onto Sasuke. Yuri's eyes widened, not believing what she was seeing.
Was that Gaara? No, it had to be the monster inside of him!
Temari and Kankuro both trembled in fear. Sasuke pushed it off and the arm, dropped to the ground. It quickly retreated back into the dome.
"Did he transform!?" Kankuro cried out, looking at Temari.
"I-I don't know. But I think he's been hurt!" She shouted.
"What is going on that you two aren't telling me!?" Yuri shouted at them and she grabbed Temari by her wrist. "What's happening to Gaara!?"
A low growl was heard, coming from the dome. Yuri slowly turned back, looking at it. The dome began to crumble as it broke, revealing Gaara panting as he held his bleeding shoulder in pain.
"I knew it! The cocoon broke before the transformation was complete!" Temari exclaimed. Then strange white feathers began to fall from the stadium from above. Strangely, Yuri felt her eyes starting to get heavier. Then a loud explosion suddenly erupted from the upper level where the Hokage and Kazekage were sitting.
"What's happening?" Yuri mumbled, trying to keep herself awake. Temari looked over at Kankuro, who nodded, and she quickly turned back to Yuri.
"I'm sorry!" Temari cried out.
"What?" Yuri asked before she felt a sharp pain at the back of her neck as Temari hit her, knocking her out. Yuri fell to the ground and her vision went dark as she blacked out.

3 and 15 for the end of the year ask game!
Thank you very much for the ask!
This took awhile to answer because you made me reread my own writing, and I wanted to answer it properly.
3: Your favorite scene of the year:
Kabuto used up the rest of the sunlight walking aimlessly. He wasn’t looking to go anywhere in particular, but he ended up atop the Hokage monument, watching the sunset. He sat atop the Fourth’s head, not sure how he got there.
It wasn’t like he had anywhere else to be. No one was waiting for him back at the apartment. Besides, this had always been one of his favored spots, away from crowds, but allowing him a complete view of the village.
Kabuto did what he did best. He turned his attention to what he could control. After Lee’s surgery he’d help rebuild the village. From this high, it was easy to mentally map the damage the invasion of Konoha had caused. A trail of destruction with its origin in the stadium where the Chunin exams had ended. That had been Sasuke’s match against Gaara, hadn’t it?
Kabuto tapped his fingers on his kneecap. He didn’t like physical labor. He’d never been strong, especially for a shinobi. If it got him out of staying in his apartment all day though, helping with the repairs would at least keep his mind safely away from reality. After that he’d be back in his element. Spy work would keep him from ever needing to think again.
“Soon,” Kabuto said, leaning back. He took his glasses off and rubbed his eyes. “Soon you’ll be out of here and you’ll never have time to think again.”
Kabuto sat back up, staring down at the village, biting his lip. “How do you do it, keep marching on like that?”
From this high the people were unrecognizable dots, like pieces on a game board. They moved in a kind of controlled chaos. Even so, Kabuto picked apart, and made mental notes of their movements, watching a few specific people and tried to figure out their routine. Some habits never die, Kabuto suspected he’d be inclined to automatically gather information until his last day. Several people moved like shinobi, leaping to and between rooftops.
Kabuto rested his chin on his hand, it was this kind of grandstanding that made him uncomfortable with Konoha shinobi. Well, any kind of shinobi really. So many of them were the kinds of people who thought they were the most powerful, important, person in any room they were in. That mentality ended with a bigger, quieter, fish eating them. Seven Chunin exams under his belt, and this was one of the few things about Shinobi he was certain of.
“Should I be more charitable?” Kabuto asked. He kicked the Fourth’s stone hair when he wasn’t given an answer. “Hm, quiet are you? I guess I can respect that.”
He should be more charitable. Maybe they were trying to convince the civilians that Konoha was still strong, maybe even strong enough that tragedy would never touch it again. It would be stupid for anyone to believe that. He’d yet to be convinced of Konoha's intelligence as a concept.
“You know, this isn’t a good exercise, it doesn’t take enough focus,” Kabuto said. Again, the Fourth’s stone head didn’t offer any good advice, bastard that he was.
Kabuto groaned loudly, laying back and staring at the stars. No matter how hard he tried to distract himself, his mind went back to Sasuke. Oh, he understood Kakashi not letting him anywhere near Konoha’s prodigy. It didn’t make it sting less though, not out of shame, or even the knowledge that Konoha still didn’t trust him. He’d be given ample trust in time.
No, the reason he was irritable was that he wouldn’t have the satisfaction of playing a part in keeping the boy from Lord Orochimaru. Kabuto knew he was clever. It was why he was worth being traded between factions. He was certain he could find a phrasing that would bypass the seal. There were, after all, many things he could say that would undoubtedly cause Sasuke doubt about Lord Orochimaru’s ability to give him the power to defeat Itachi Uchiha.
“I don’t think I’m that necessary though, not on that front,” Kabuto said, rolling onto his side so he could go back to looking at Konoha.
He doubted the boy would go for it. Sasuke may be unsatisfied. with the rate of his growth right now, but he had strong bonds with the people of Konoha. If Kabuto had someone look at him with the same expression Naruto had when he found Sasuke awake in the hospital…he struggled to think of anything that could convince him to leave them.
End scene
I generally don't like my writing. I'm trying to move to having more of a neutrality to it though. I wanted to pick a scene I'd enjoyed writing the first time and editing. Also not something too recent.
This scene is from LP 1. It's kinda the moment I started enjoying the story. I think I finally got into Kabuto's head a bit here. I still have a ways to go with writing him in a way I like, but this kinda had me thinking I might be able to enjoy writing him. More than just, this is a thing to write and finish. Something I could enjoy on par with my original work.
15: Something you learned this year:
This was also hard. I graduated college this year, moved halfway across the country twice, and began focusing on a long fanfic rather than original novels.
Writing wise? I'm kind of learning to enjoy writing again. I don't wanna say a complete process. I still can't reread most of my writing. It's lesser though. I can finish my own projects now, something I've struggled with for years. It's not about being perfect I suppose, not the first go around. I'm learning to edit, identify my issues rather than just cringing and restarting.
Fanfic helped a lot with that. Even if I'm the worst author to write Kabuto I'm one of hundreds. So it's easier to just go "ok I'll just tell the story I see here" than fixating on doing it the right way. Soo, kinda getting over perfectionism? Not there yet, and this isn't to say I haven't got to improve as an author but, maybe I'm getting there. Maybe someday I'll be able to release a piece and just be proud of it. Here's to 2024.

Neji vs. Naruto chunin exam reminding me of his death— that was such a big miss 💀 way to go! Kill the only guy who's brave enough to expose the Hyuga's fucked up system at like age 14 in front of a stadium during an international exam and for who??? The daughter of the guy who benefits from the abusive system????? They should've just killed Hiashi instead💀💀💀 which would definitely bring the Hyuga clan down a notch. The whole scene could've had the same effect. Naruto would still be devastated seeing the father of her friend/potential love interest dying (even if he is an asshole) for him. And Hinata going from mourning to "get a grip Naruto-kun" wouldn't have been in such bad taste
also post-war, people gonna be trying to take advantage of Hinata's long-standing feelings for Naruto because they can use his position as a ~Hero~ to strengthen the clan. Not to mention the only other main family candidate is Hanabi who was like some kid in her preteens or early teens? At least then they'd have a more decent plot for the NH movie where Hinata's hesitance also takes into consideration how Naruto can be exploited by a powerful clan, HER powerful clan with her as the de facto clan head.
You know who she can trust? Who is both strong and also has a strong sense of justice? Who won't needlessly take advantage of people? Who would definitely be a good clan leader??? Neji :)) their alliance would've been the biggest fuck you to Hiashi :D would've also shown the depth of her feelings for Naruto too as she would rather place herself in a precarious position than see him embroiled in a clan head conflict. It's good for Neji too because he can now root out all the bad practices of the Hyuga like destroying the cursed mark system and dismantling the main and branch family system

A change in Boruto Uzumaki by Budgie4life
Anime » Naruto Rated: M, English, Hurt/Comfort & Drama, Boruto U., Words: 5k+, Favs: 45, Follows: 37, Published: Oct 2, 2019 Updated: Oct 15, 2019
14Chapter 1: Beginings
I do not own Naruto/Boruto if I did I would have made the fillers based more of minatos and itachis backstorys but sadly that isn't the case.
The first chapter is short and I apologise for that I wrote this as a story beginner and I have a few ideas for continuing it. I just wanted to see how people would react to it as it is my first fan fiction idea therefore constructive criticism is wanted and any extra ideas that would be good to add to help me improve and make future chapters longer. I will expand more on the jougan in future chapters as I really like the idea of his new doujutsu and I think it looks incredibly cool and powerful.
English is my first language but I'm incredibly bad at spelling and writing long fight scenes so don't expect too much to start with lol.
I also have the next chapter ready in my head so I will write the plan down for that after I've posted this.
Thanks for reading a long and boring intro. Please review.
THIS FANFICTION CONTAIN SPOILERS IN THIS CHAPTER AND ANY FUTURE CHAPTERS FROM THE CANON MANGA AND ANIME
some facts and wording may be wrong as I havnt Watched it read the chunin exams in quite a while.
—-
Naruto looked on into the arena, something was wrong. How could his son use water style, lightning style, and wind style? He knew his son was more intelligent then he was when he was his ages but three chakra natures were pushing it. His sons strange doujutsu was also something to be concerned about.
He decided to get up and make his way towards his wife, Hinata to check if his instincts were wrong. He sure hoped they were. He would have to disgrace his own son in front of the five great ninja kage.
"Hinata could you use your byakugan to check his right wrist"
Hinata looked concerned but did as she was asked.
"That's... that's a scientific ninja tool"
Naruto sighed, he had thought as much.
"His right eye also has a lot of chakra pulsating too but wait I ..."
Naruto cut her off as he jumped into the arena to stop the match. As he jumped down he could hear the other kage whispering.
"I wonder why Narutos jumping into the arena"
"Probably couldn't wait to congratulate his son on wining the chunin exams"
As he neared his son's smiling face after his false victory all he could think about was the betrayal that Boruto had played against the rules that he had set for the exams. After doing so well it was too good to be true. Boruto held out his right hand in a fist bump, smiling like a goofball up at his father. He reached out his left hand and suddenly grabbed his right wrist revealing to the hole stadium his secret. Borutos face suddenly dropped.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Naruto didn't give him a chance to reply, he turned to face the audience.
"Boruto Uzumaki is hereby disqualified from the chunin exams for the illegal use of a scientific ninja tool"
The shock and disbelief in Borutos face only grew by the second.
"The scientific ninja tool is an illegal item for its ability to produce jutsu without the use of chakra. He is also being disqualified from being a ninja again. "
Naruto turned back to face Boruto and he reached out to take his forehead protector .
" we will talk about this later" he whispered
"We'll talk about this later? WE'LL TALK ABOUT THIS LATER? IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY, ITS ALWAYS LATER! If you had paid attention to me this would never have happened in the first place..."
The hole stadium turns to silence so they could hear the conversation between father and son. A pin drop would have been heard from a mile away if it wasn't for borutos venting.
"I want to talk about your new eye doujutsu to it se..."
Suddenly Naruto stopped talking and started stuttering and stumbling over his words. He quickly started shaking too and his eyes turned glassy. As if out of nowhere he collapsed onto the stadium floor twitching like a mad man. Gasps could be heard from all around and before anyone could realize what was wrong, two strangers emerged from the audience and appeared in the center of the stadium.
"DAD!" Boruto yelled as he rushed over to his fathers' side in a panicked state.
"What the hell hap.."
Boruto was cut off by the voice of one of the two menacing pale creatures stood behind him.
"Boruto Uzumaki You Are Coming With Us"
Terrified by the mere presence of the two individuals Boruto got up and started running from the two Byakugan wielding aliens. How they had his mother doujutsu didn't concern him at the moment as he fired jutsu left and right from his scientific ninja tool towards the two only for the smaller of the two creatures to absorbe the Jutsu straight into a red-colored eye which looks terrifyingly similar to the famed rinnegan of Sasuke Uchiha
Within seconds of the shit hitting the fan, Boruto was brutally kicked into the side of the stadium wall causing the structure to start to crack.
At this time Borutos rival competitors had fled the stadium and the fellow kage were directing orders to the civilian evacuation and preparing for battle. The white-eyed freaks walked casually over to Boruto, who was still stuck in the wall of the stadium, to go pick him up. As the stadium began to crack and crumble screams could be heard from all around.
As the aliens reached Boruto and began to stick the arms out to grab him suddenly a bright flash of purple in the form of a skeleton's arm reached Boruto before the two aliens could.
Sasuke raced as fast as he could toward the stadium. The two ōtsutsuki clan members he had fought previously were after the nine-tailed fox called Kurama sealed inside Naruto. As he neared the stadium he could hear the screams of terror coming from the hundreds of people who had gathered to witness the exams.
"crap its already begun" Sasuke whispered to himself as he dashed towards the arena.
He arrived just as the kage seating area collapsed into the stadium. He stood on top of the seating roofs and saw something surprising...
Kinshiki was walking towards Boruto to pick him up, out of a wall. Momoshiki was standing slightly behind. He seemed to be injured but it wasn't from his fight with him. He had been in a battle since their last meeting.
Too the left Sasuke saw an unconscious Naruto that seems to be twitching from head to toe. Something was wrong and sasuke knew it. Very wrong.
Why where the ōtsutsuki members going after Boruto and not the nine tails inside Naruto. This would have been the perfect opportunity to kidnap him to extract kurama. What could they possibly want with Boruto?
Just as they were about to reach him I swooped our with my susanoo to protect him. What ever they wanted with Boruto was clearly more important then the most powerful bijuu in the world.
" Ahh so we meet again, he unfortunate" said Momoshiki
" what ever business you have with Boruto stay away from him. "
"Ahh what a shame..." announced Momoshiki " I need him for my plan. He is a very important puzzle piece which I have been looking for. I didn't want to have to resort to this however..." Momoshiki stated as the red eye on his hand started to glow "it seems your standing in a difficult situation."
Suddenly jutsu after jutsu produced its self all over the arena attacking shinobi and civilian alike. Water jutsu flooding the stands. Fire and lightning scorching the walls. Earth fallin all around with unimaginable gusts of wind blowing around like tornados. All complimenting each other in a sick twisted harmony, all dispersing from the devils work of an eye stuck in Momoshiki hand. Sasuke caught a glimpse of something reflective coming from the corners of his mouth. Among the kage level jutsu was a large ball of dense chakra that hadn't been seen since the end of the forth great ninja war. It grew larger and larger with every second ceasing to stop any time soon. Sparks of red lighting shot of at random intervals destroying anything in its path.
"A BIJUU BOMB?!" Sasuke exclaimed how was he meant to deal with that. Sure his susanoo was strong but he was no Naruto. He had to do hat he could to protect the village even if that meant sacrificing himself.
" damn it Naruto this is meant to be your job!" Sasuke mumbled to himself as his susanoo flared to life. He started using all of his chakra to build and reinforce his perfect susanoo. As the bijuu bomb looked like it was going to burst he rapped his wings over the top of the explosive just as it went off. The blinding light could be seen for miles around the now city hidden in the leaves.
Sasuke protected it all with his life. Every single citizen, shinobi and kage. All but one...
As the flash of light died Down felt his chakra drain out of his body. Black spots started to seep in around his vision as he fell to the ground next to his eternal rival. The last thing he heard before Momoshiki and kinshiki left was "when you next see him he won't be human anymore" After Sasuke fell into a chakra exhaustion related coma watching Boruto being hauled away on kinshikis shoulder into another dimension.
2: Reflection
I do not own Naruto/Boruto if I did I would have made the fillers based more of minatos and itachis backstories but sadly that isn't the case.
Gasps could be heard all around and then the mumblings could be heard as a reached forward to take the forehead protector
" we will talk about this later" he whispered
"We'll talk about this later? WE'LL TALK ABOUT THIS LATER? IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY, ITS ALWAYS LATER! If you had paid attention to me this would never have happened in the first place..." Boruto yelled back at him.
The hole stadium turns to silence so they could hear the conversation between father and son. A pin drop would have been heard from a mile away if it wasn't for borutos venting.
Naruto looked around the stadium at all the shocked face peering down on them meeting everyone's eyes until they fell on some terrifyingly familiar.
"I want to talk about your new eye doujutsu to it se..."
Suddenly he lost all feeling in his legs and started to tremble.
'Those damn eyes! This isn't good, that was the same rinnegan that Kaguya had. The ōtsutsuki have come for kurama'
As his condition worsened he felt his conscious slowly drift off, his breathing suddenly became uneven and he started to panic. Boruto didn't seem to see what was going on and as his vision blacked out he fell to the floor unconscious.
"Dad?"
"DAD!"
"What the hel..."
(7 days later)
"Boruto Uzumaki You Are Coming With Us"
'what going on...'
"Boruto.."
'Boruto'
"BORUTO!"
screams could be heard from every direction, tormenting his brain. He shivered and turned and twisted in his sleep...
"NOOO!"
Naruto shot up from his bed, breathing heavily.
'nightmare' he said to himself.
he looked around the room he was currently in. Four white walls and the thing he was sat on certainly wasn't the stadium floor. It was konahas general hospital. He spotted his wife sleeping with her head on the edge of his bed. He smiled down at her form, still as beautiful as the day he married her. He thought back to how he had landed himself in hospital. His smile faltered, the ōtsutsuki, their eyes, loud screams, and shouts. His eyes grew wider and he began to shiver with every second as he recalled everything that had happened. 'it wasn't a dream' he thought sadly.
He was shaking the bed slightly as Hinata lifted her head off the duvet and look up to Narutos' sad eyes.
"Hey Naruto calm down your ok, your ok" she repeated out to him.
"What happened...?" Naruto asked quietly, Hinata proceeded to explain what had happened the week before.
"...and that's when we ran back into the stadium after all the commotion had died down, we found you unconscious and Sasuke." Hinata was interrupted as naruto swiftly lifted his head.
"Sasuke?" Naruto asked 'he must have known what was coming' he thought after.
"where is?" He drifted off to silence, he knew what was coming.
" He's in a coma" Hinata stated as she confirmed his fears. " we don't know when he will wake up" Naruto lowed his head again "He saved everyone in the village with his Susanoo" everyone in the hole village saw it. Naruto internally smiled as sad smile internally at that statement. 'protecting the one place you once sort to destroy, you continue to amaze me Sasuke' naruto thought.
" where is Himawari?" He asked
" I took her to my parents' house and came here straight after you were admitted, she's come to see you quite a lot, she was scared she wouldn't be here when you woke up, seems she was right," Hinata explained.
Naruto sighed "And Boruto?" Hinata stilled and started crying silently with naruto still looking down waiting for her response. as he started to hear sniffling he looked up and saw his wife crying. His face softened and he scooted himself over to her and gave her a warm hug.
"Hey, it's ok, we'll get him back, I promise, I'll do anything in my power and more to get him back. He has got a strong will power and he won't give up any time soon. He's alive im sure of it I can feel it" Naruto said softly into his wife's ear.
"I know he's alive I can feel it too" Hinata replied so quietly he wasn't sure if he had misheard her.
"At least he knows you love him..." Naruto said quietly to himself.
Hinata looked up at him with a shocked face. ' shit she heard me' naruto though.
" what's that meant to mean naruto! of course, you love him" Hinata said full of shock.
"The last thing I did to him was denounced him of being a ninja in front of the five great nations. Im a horrible father and an even worse husband, im so sorry. I've been so concentrated on work these last 6 years protecting everyone in the village when I haven't been looking after the people who love me the most who were right in front of me. You Himawari and Boruto deserve so much more, please forgive me..." naruto said to his wife full of determination for a change, looking deep into her eyes.
"naruto..." a soft smile graced her lips as she cupped narutos face in her hands who leaned in. "its ok we understand how important your job is and how much the village needs you, we know why you can't be home all the time, Himawari and Boruto both know this, they both just miss having their father there for them. Boruto just shows how he feels in a more extream manner."
Naruto sighed as Hinata leaned forward and placed a small peck on his lip making narutos lips twitch up into a small smile.
"it doesn't excuse me for not being there for you more, I promise to try and be there for you all more, and when we rescue Boruto im gonna tell him exactly how much I care and worry about him."
"I know you will" Hinata replied as they had another, yet slightly longer, kiss. Just as they were parting Himawari came in the door with Hinatas' father behind her. When she saw her father was awake her face lit up with happiness but then a frown appeared on her face. Naruto gave a quick nod to Hiashi as he left their family in peace.
"I wasn't here when daddy woke up," Himawari said sadly, looking down. Then she ran over to her father and tackled him into a crushing hug making naruto giggle.
"It's ok Hima. You mummy was here for me when I woke up so I wasn't alone" Naruto said to his daughter. 'Thought Boruto won't have anyone where he is' he thought to put a falt in his smile.
"Daddy where is boruto?" She asked innocently.
"I don't know but I promise you ill get you your big brother back and when I do, you, me and boruto are going to be spending a lot more time together." This made Himawari's face light up and went back into giving naruto her hug with Hinata joining.
"I know you will daddy..."
An hour after Naruto had been released from the hospital he called an emergence world kage summit was called for. It was lucky all the kage were already in the Hidden leaf keeping everything secure and safe while their Hokage was unconscious.
"We need to go after Boruto and get im back as soon as possible" Naruto announced before everyone had even sat down.
"We know Naruto, and we all intent on helping you get your son but he was taken through some kind of space-time ninjutsu after Sasuke collapsed, I rushed in first to see what had happened with my sand and i saw the tail end of a portal" replied Gaara firmly "The only people with the ability to follow them is Sasuke and we don't even know when he will wake"
"Which is why we need to prepare for when he does so we can go straight out to rescue him," Naruto said desperately.
"Well we can't do anything at the moment to speed Sasuke recovery, what we can do however is try to find out why the hell they too your son and not you for the fox, that was their original goal wasn't it? no offense but I find it extremely difficult to believe they mistaken your son for you," said Darui.
Naruto thought back to his son during the exams and remembered something he had forgotten about. "His eye... It's not a Doujutsu of Konoha, I've never seen or heard of anything that looked anything like it." This intrigued the other kage. "Its pupil was white just like the Byakugan and it glowed brightly whenever you saw it but its sclera was black as the night..."
This shocked the other kage as they all started to look around at one another for answers.
"Do we know of anything that this eye can do? Did your son tell you anything about it?" Kurotsuchi asked.
"I believe it works similar to the Byakugan, as during his fight with shikadai during the finals he seemed to be in the gentle fist stance, which im familiar with because of my wife and her clan. It also seemed to pulse out lightning during his fight when he got trapped in shikadais' shadow possession jutsu to free himself. Other then that i have no idea what it is or what it can do, unfortunately, we don't even have a name for it yet either. Boruto didn't even tell me he had a Doujutsu i only found out in the exam when his fight with Shikadai was taking place." Naruto trailed out into silence as did the rest of the room. The tense atmosphere crushing around them all as none of them know what else to say. Thankfully Shikamaru, Narutos chief advisor cut in.
"I guess we'll just have to wait until Sasuke wakes up to get his version of what happened down there. This hole situation is a drag." Shikamaru sighed.
Naruto looked up and faced his other kage who could see the stress and circles around his eye ready for the countless sleepless nights waiting to come.
"I guess your right, this meeting is over unless anyone else has anything else to say"
The other kage stayed as silent as ever. Naruto sighed and made his way out of the meeting room leaving everyone else behind looking at the open door.
"damn this must be really hard on him, his son cheating then denouncing him of a ninja then him being kidnapped by some alien, poor naruto" Kurotsuchi sighed as she stood up and started making her way to the exit with the other kage from the shinobi nations all thinking the same thing.
A week later and Sasuke hadn't woken up. Civilians were already starting to forget about the actions taken from the people who had saved all their lies and had started to move on to other things, all apart from Naruto who hadn't slept for the last week ever since he had woken up from his unconscious state. Sleeping was the last thing on his mind as sat at his desk waiting for the call that Sasuke had woken up signaling the mission to retrieve his only son. But the mental strain of not sleeping for over a week was starting to get to him. As naruto sat behind his desk like every other day for the last six years he started to break down. Tears started pouring down his face but remained silent with no coughs or heaving from the eternal pain from within. Streams of the salty liquid forming on a puddle on his desk.
Getting up slowly he made his way to the door and slowly exited the kage tower. As he walked outside the doors the street was empty, that was expected tho as it was three in the morning, the sun would be coming up too soon. He debated going home but he knows that wouldn't be a good idea in the state he was in now, Hinata was worried enough as it was. Naruto changed his course and went to the top the Hokage faces and sat down in the spikes of hair in his father's head.
How was he to know how to be a father, he never had any father figures for much of his life apart from iruka and partly even Kakashi at sometimes. He wanted his son to have everything he had ever wanted, to give both his children the praise and love they deserved. However, even with his talk with his wife when he first woke, he still felt no better afterward. He was released they had forgiven him and he had made a promise to go home more often but he hadn't down that at all the last week making is heartful promise just a shamble of words which meant nothing. He never meant for that. With the tears that still hadn't stopped because of his failures, he made himself walk home. He could do with a hug and he knew where he could find from someone who had promised to be by his side for eternity. Hinata would always worry about him whether it was because he was crying for the first time since his pervy sage died or not.
As he reached his with tear stains down his red swollen eyes, he opened the door and made his way up to his bedroom quickly peeking in the door to the room his daughter slept in to see her laying calmly. As he reached the end of the corridor he made his way over to the side of his bed where his wife was laying. He quietly got into bed and rolled over to face his wife. Much to his surprise her eyes were open and looking straight into his with a sad smile once again gracing her lips. Expecting a worried full talk Naruto prepared himself for what his wife had to say to him only for her to grace his head with her hand and place a kiss on his forehead. after she pulled herself into his chest. Naruto smiled down at her small form and remembered the first time they had stayed together. A time full of innocent laughs and never having to worry about their children getting themselves into difficult situations.
"I love you" Naruto whispered into his wife's hair as he kissed her back.
"I love you too now sleep, you've been working with the last seven days straight" She replyed
"Thank you," he said quietly back and his wife didn't reply only for him to find out she was already asleep and soon after he drifted off too.
A painfull 2 weeks later, a full month after the incident Sasuke woke up much to everyone's relief. As soon as he was able to walk Naruto rushed him into another meeting. Sasuke explained his account to the five kages as they listened to him carefully. Sasuke made it clear to them all that they were after Boruto for a serious reason as they took extream measures to collect him. He also stated their names and how he had battled them before and was on the way to the stadium to tell naruto what was going to happen as the battles started. Sasuke said they had changed their goal since when they had previously fought and how Momoshiki was bleeding from the mouth up close.
After Naruto stated about Borutos eye Doujutsu Sasuke confirmed that it was most likely that they were after. Sasuke was given a rundown on what they knew already about Borutos eye and he gave the five kage a run down on any powers and the speeds they could move at and prepared for a possibly long and dangerous battle they were most likely heading into. Only Thee hours after he had woken up they headed to the roof of the Hokage tower and Sasuke set his rinnegan swirling. The portal opened and six figures made there way inside...
The two alien-like creatures chucked Boruto onto the hard dirt ground forcefully waking him up. He looked around and saw a dying tree behind him which seemed to reach the sun in the middle of a giant crater with no wildlife, plants or anything of any earthly manner around.
"You know your really quite special young man" said the small man with a surprising menacing voice.
"Jougans are rare, even just one. more so on that disgusting planet of yours" It continued
"My name is Momoshiki and im in a bit of a pickle, you see i need a vessel, im dying. I had a fight with a clever bastard of an octopus and i need someone's body to continue on with." The newly named Momoshiki stated. " I don't care how you obtained your eye however i find looking at it rather interesting. Whether you like it or not it's going to be mine!"
Momoshiki loomed over the top of him casting a dark shadow all around him. A finger pointing at his head suddenly glowed and shot out towards Borutos body. He was in total agony, the pain was too much to handle but there was no stopping the torment shooting down every nerve in his body destroying his mind and torturing his head making him beg for death. Screaming his head off, getting louder and louder by the second trying to shake off the tremendous pain. After what felt like hours or screaming, shaking and begging for death Boruto became silent and quietly said no louder than a whisper
"Please just stop it, Please I can't take this anymore..."
Momoshiki and his companion laughed maliciously.
"This pain will give you the power and you've only been here for ten minutes. we still have another 23 hours and 50 minutes left to go. I thought all you wanted was power after watching that pitiful fight with that worthless tool. you worthless being, you pitiful human, you should be begging me for this power. If you want me to speed it up, why didn't you just ask." Momoshike snarled baring great white teeth staring dead into eyes as he increased the pain tenfold making him scream out deathly screams no man could stay sane after hearing.
"Your eyes and body will be mine...All mine..."
3: Pain
I do not own Naruto/Boruto if I did I would have made the fillers based more of minatos and itachis backstories but sadly that isn't the case.
24 hours
"AHHHHHHAAaaahhhHHHH" Boruto screamed. The pain had suddenly jumped down my arm like a never even ending electrical shock. Agony is every fibre of my being. Burning and tearing in on itself. The feel of skin being burnt and chard all up my right arm.
Momoshiki's words were repeating in side his head. Making their mark and engraving his statement into his brain.
"You worthless being. You pitiful human"
The pain only reached his top right shoulder at the moment by the intensity only grew.
20 hours left
The burning sensation has been working it's way around his arm for the last 4 hours. He kept screaming and screaming in pain pleading for the pain to stop. Slowly the pain seemed to be decreasing. Boruto was finally able to cope the the pain long enough to gather his senses and look over the his kidnappers.
He was met with a bastardly snarl and and shoot of pain straight through his chest. The torture only increased as time went on just like his arm before. Although the only thing that could be physically seen was a thin blue line making its way up his arm, he felt like his was being tided down to the face of the sun. He couldn't breath his stomach felt like it was going to explode his heart was palpitating inhumanly. Yet he could do nothing to release the agony. His eyes rolled back in his head at the shear pain but consciousness held onto him like a ravenous dog desperately in need of food.
His body began twitching. The pain was all mental. All of it was going on inside his head like a forbidden genjutsu thought to be lost to time.
"You worthless being. You pitiful human. You are nothing."
16 hours
The pain continued and surged into his legs. They felt like they were being Destroyed by wolves. His hole body continued twitching and he started foaming at the mouth. The blue line had town thicker and had reached his elbow and was being to spread up and down his torso.
The voices continued
"You worthless being. You pitiful human. You are nothing. Nothing without me. "
10 hours left
The pain shot into his head. His brain felt like it was being fried and his neck felt like it was being cut off with a serrated saw.
The blue line was over his face and his ears were beginning to bleed.
"You worthless being. You pitiful human. You are nothing. Nothing without me. Take me"
5 hours left
The pain throbbed through his entire system, from head to toe, tenfold since the beginning. Momoshiki had absorbed kinshiki a few hours previously and he was finally on his last leg. Creating a vessel was hard work.
"Become my vessel"
Borutos chest started lifting off the floor. Arching in a possessed manner.
"I'm all you'll ever have..."
0 hours..
Boruto lay on his side. Curled up into himself. The pain had stopped but the termol was so much he couldn't tell the difference. His eyes now looked forward unblinking and dull not registering what he was looking at. He was a blank slate he couldn't move either. He layed on the cold hard floor staring off into nothing as his mind was in a daze. He recalled everything that had happened to him.
It wasn't worth cringing over all the pain and tremol. It was still their really. It would be forever. The scars. The memories. The trauma. The diamond black shape tainting his hand. The blue lines has all vanished.
What cruel sin had he done to deserve this. No. That wasn't right he knew what he had done. This was kami giving him what he deserved. What he needed. From berating his father for being a bad father. To wishing Naruto wasn't his father in the first place. Blaming him for not having any grandparents who could have raised him to know how to be a parent. Cheating in the exams screaming at the hokage. Lying to his sister. Embarrassing his nation. Disappointing his own mother.
He knew what he had down now.
""You are nothing"
Momoshikis voice played on loop o side his head as he stayed deathly still. Bearly breathing. Remenisinng on every he had done to deserve a cruel fate such as this one over and over co tinuousltly
"uto..."
He couldn't register what was going. On still. He hadn't bothered to keep track of the days. He couldn't anyway the grey clouds hadn't changed once. He felt someone move him and pull him into something he couldn't register.
"Boruto"
Boruto. That was his name he remembered that as he felt warm liquid run down the side of his head. His body was limp and week as he was pushed slightly away from who ever was touching him. His eyes moved slightly over to the man looking at his. His vision was still blurry. He saw a group of six people gathered around him but he couldn't make out who was who. Scared and afraid but too lost from the world to move of protect himself he layers still as the man covered in orange lifted him up and cradled him in his arms.
—-
As Naruto , Sasuke and the other four kage jumped through the portal they were expecting a huge fight. But what they saw shocked them. A few meters away from the portal was Boruto Laying on the floor. Facing away. Deathly still. Before anyone could stop him Naruto ran over to borutos side to see how he was.
Naruto reacher over and turning borutos body over calling him by his name voice full of sadness. His on seemed to be physical fine apart from the black diamond now tainting his right palm and the small dribble of blood pooling from his head. His eyes looked shallow and dead. No eyes a child should ever have. As he looked into his eyes he couldn't tell if his son even knew he was there to rescue him. He reached out and brought his son into a hug. Tears streaming down his face but uttering no words.
"We should go before anyone else turns up here. We don't know what gone on here. " Sasuke states. The other five kage agreed.
Naruto stood up. Remaining silent with his son still in his arms as he walked back to the portal to take his son home. Just before he reached the portal his son drifted off into unconsciousness.
'We're going home son. Somewhere where you belong.' Naruto thought sadly as he felt his son drift off into sleep.

Desert Flower Part 23
The Final Tournament,
The day of the tournament had come. Yuri walked into the stadium to see it completely packed from shinobi from other villages who had come to see the matches. She saw Shikamaru, Shino, Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara standing the in middle, waiting. There was another exam proctor, waiting as well. Yuri noticed that Dosu was nowhere to be seen, and so was Naruto and Sasuke.
"Where's Dosu? I'm supposed to be fighting him but he's not even here..." Yuri thought to herself, wondering. "He's definitely not that kind of guy to just quit. And Naruto's not here as well as Sasuke. Where the heck are they?"
After a while, there was still no sign of Naruto or Sasuke. It was only a few minutes left before the matches were going to start. Yuri began pacing, getting a little worried.
"Did something happen? She thought to herself before she glanced over at Gaara with a suspicious look. "Don't tell he actually did it." She recalled what he said back at the hospital when he threatened her, Naruto and Shikamaru.
"I will kill you all."
Yuri shivered, shaking the thought from her mind. Then there was a sudden loud noise heard from the rear entrance of the stadium.
Naruto flew directly at Yuri, and he slammed into her. Yuri screamed as she was knocked back and she crashed into someone else. She groaned as sat up, rubbing her side, still painfully throbbing from Naruto had hit her.
"Ow. That hurt-" Yuri paused when she realized that she was sitting on top of someone. Gaara. She felt her heart racing getting faster and faster and started to sweat, getting a little nervous. Oh crap...
Temari and Kankuro stood, stunned, with a look of panic in their eyes.
Gaara's eyes were widened a little in shock as well before they turned dark as he glared at her.
"Get off."
Yuri immediately quickly got up, taking a step back away from Gaara. Gaara got up.
"I'm sorry-It was an accident, although it was kind of Naruto's fault! I-I didn't mean to bump into you- Yuri stammered, drifting off a little, nervously. Gaara said nothing and turned away from her with his arms crossed.
Yuri quickly turned back to Naruto, glaring at him angrily saw he sitting up, rubbing his head.
"Naruto...!" Yuri growled. Naruto's eyes went wide as saucers and Yuri grabbed him by his collar, pulling him up and started shaking him.
"What's the big idea!?" She demanded.
"It's not my fault! There's a huge herd of stampeding bulls coming this way!" Naruto shouted. Yuri frowned.
"What bulls?"
Naruto looked around, only to find the competitors who were staring back at him, noticing Sasuke wasn't among them. "Hey, where's Sasuke?"
"He's not here. And Dosu, isn't, either." Yuri told him. Naruto's eyes widen.
"You don't think..." He whispered.
"I hope not." Yuri spoke.
"That's enough talking." the exam proctor spoke. "It's time to face your spectators. In this tournament, you guys are the main stars." Yuri looked up at the stadium, seeing many people from different countries. Sitting high above were the two leaders from the Leaf and Sand Village. The Hokage and Kazekage.
Yuri saw Kankuro and Temari grew tense when they saw the Kazekage and noticed Gaara glaring at him. The Third Hokage stood up.
"Thank you everyone for coming to the Hidden Leaf Chunin Exam Selection!" He announced. "We will start the main tournament matches. Between the nine participates who made it through the preliminaries! Please stay and watch until the end!"
The exam proctor stepped up and held out a chart in front of everyone. "I'd like to tell you something before we start the matches." He spoke. "There has been changes made to the tournament. I'm giving you a chance again to check to see who you are fighting."
Yuri's eyes widen in surprise to see her name has been moved up and Dosu crossed out.
"Did he really forfeit?"
"Hey!" Naruto shouted.
"What?" The proctor asked.
"Sasuke's not even here yet. What are you gonna do?" Naruto asked.
"If he isn't here by the time his match starts then he will lose by default." The proctor said before looking at everyone else. "Alright, this is the final test. The arena is different, but the rules are still the same as the preliminaries. You fight until one of you is dead or admits defeat. But I will also step in when I determine if the fight is over. You got it?"
No one said a word.
"Now, the first match is Naruto Uzumaki vs. Neji Hyuga. Those two will stay here and the rest of you will go to the waiting room."
Naruto and Neji stayed, and everyone left the arena, heading to the waiting room. As Yuri walked in, she saw Shikamaru a little further away, watching over the railings, Shino was leaning against the wall, Kankuro, Temari and Gaara, waiting by the railings to watch the match.
Yuri slowly made her way over towards the Sand team, standing next to Temari and Gaara. Kankuro blinked in surprise when he saw her walk over.
"Is this spot taken?" Yuri asked.
"Yuri?" Temari spoke, surprised. Gaara ignored her as he looked down, to watch Naruto's match. Yuri looked down to see Naruto and Neji facing each other about to fight.

BNHA: Kakashi dimension hops crossover (5)
Summary: Kakashi gets dumbed into the My Hero Academia universe through random plot devise.
Characters:  Kakashi Hatake
Fandoms: My Hero Academia and Naruto
WARNINGS: Mentions of violence/injury
START  / RREV / NEXT
Ms Iroi always tries to engage him in conversation whenever she comes in, asking questions and chatting to herself in a fruitless attempt at helping him recover his 'lost' memories. Most of the time, Kakashi is indifferent to her presence and always has a magazine handy as an excuse not to talk.
Today, Iroi is in a particularly good mood, humming to herself, greeting him with an energetic, “How are you doing today!”
Kakashi grunts a noncommittal response which doesn’t do much to discourage the woman’s good mood as she runs through a check-up routine.
“You should try watching U.A’s sports festival tomorrow. I hear it’s going to be particularly spectacular this year,” she says as she pulls the blinds on Kakashi's window, blocking out the distant city lights.
U.A? he recognises the name. Kakashi glances up over the pages of HERO!! MONTHLY BREAKDOWN. It is the third time he has read this issue.
“You know, since you like reading those hero magazines, I figured you would be interested in watching the ‘next generation of heroes’ debut,” she continues, noting his attention, “U.A always puts on a good show.”
Kakashi frowns. The problem with his amnesia cover story is that he is still trying to figure out what he can get away with not remembering. So far the doctor’s seem content to chalk up the disappearance of his long term memories to a ‘quirk’ accident but were always more concerned when he failed to recall basic factual information. Something to do with different parts of the brain being responsible for different types of information.
“Watch how?” He settles on asking. U.A. was supposed to be a hero-training academy so whatever this ‘sports festival’ was was worth checking out.
“Oh,” Iori pauses to think, “I, ah, think channel 2 with be covering it?” she hesitates, “You know what. I’ll look it up and let you know later. Sorry, I can’t carry my phone around with me while on shift.”
“Thank you.” He smiles and makes a show of returning to his magazine to dissuade further conversation.
Later the same evening, just before the end of the evening shift, Iori pokes her head into his room again. She is out of uniform, long hair untired, waving to catch his attention.
“The coverage is on channel 2 and starts at 11am,” She holds up her portable communication devise like it means something.  It probably did mean something. The frequency by which people checked them suggested it had a function beyond basic communication. He has held off attempting to steal one because, unlike pens, people would notice and care if one went missing.
“Have fun watching! Oh… also, I forgot to ask…”
Kakashi raises a brow.
“I have a bunch of old gossip magazines. Mum used to read them all the time and there are a few hero-themed ones in the mix. I can bring them in if you want more stuff to read.”
“If you want.” Iori must have noticed him re-reading the magazines.
"I'll bring them on Friday!"
Iori had been unsubtly hinting that Kakashi might have had a history in heroics. It definitely wasn’t because reading information on a page just made sense when compared to the barrage of conflicting reports the television gave him. A few weeks with only the television as his information source has him writing off most of its information as useless or propaganda.
...
“HEELLLOOOOO, LISTENERS!”
Kakashi stares dully as the video footage, which had been giving him a bird’s eye view of a positively massive stadium, changes to a sweeping shot of what must be thousands of people crammed into seats. It almost makes him claustrophobic just watching it.
“WELLCOME TO OUR ANNUAL U.A. SPORTS FESTIVAL! THE HIGH SCHOOL ADOLESCENT RODEO YOU ALL LOVE TO WATCH. CAN A GET A ‘OH YEAH!’”
As if of one mind, thousands of people leap to their feet screaming. The camera angle changes again to show a grinning blond-haired man, seated at a desk and pointing enthusiastically at the camera. All these shot changes are going to give him a headache. Kakashi is already having reservations watching this and its only10 minutes.
“Thank you! You’re an AMAZING audience!”
It almost reminds him of the final Chunin Exam stages -if the Chunin exams had had three times the audience - which always involved some sort of combat display.  There hadn’t been any public Chunin Exams recently for reasons such as a large portion of Konoha being flattened by Pein.
“FIRST UP ARE OUR FIRST-YEAR EVENTS! And what an exciting round of events they are, perfect for debuting our newest students! Give us a shout so they can feel your support!”
Another loud shot as thousands of people yelled in unison.
“Come on! Louder than that! These are your future Heroes I’m talking about! SHOW THEM SOME LOVE!”
More yelling. Kakashi turns down the volume.
“But! Wait just a minute!! We're not only here for our Hero students! As I'm sure you all know, behind every great hero is a hardworking support team! GIVE IT UP FOR our Support, Management and General departments who are also competing for a chance to face off in the finals!”
Kakashi sighs. He is getting the sense that this might be more for entertainment than utility purposes, conforming to the general trend of Hero-related stuff being flashy. Different from the Chunin exam which had deadly consequences if not taken seriously.
“Hey. Hey! HERE THEY COME NOW! OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE FIRST YEAR STAGE!”
What follows is an overly dramatized race where the only thing of interest to him are the obstacle types, including robots, - mobile mechanical weapons of some sort that produced a lot of environmental damage but were taken down fairly easily- and explosive devices that acted a lot like explosive tags. Then there was a team elimination round and one-on-one tournament fights after which the coverage shifts to the second year and third year stages.
He uncovers the sharingun only to discover that, while its memorisation function worked fine, the part that translated the movements into muscle memory felt off. Perhaps, the replication and copying component of the eye didn’t work when viewing a technique through a screen rather than in person. Interesting. As there wasn't anything particularly impressive technique-wise during the events he counts the new information as a net gain.
The student-heroes – he is not sure if there is an official term for a hero in training – barely match Konoha’s academy standard in their taijutsu and physical conditioning though there was marked improvement between first, second and third-year groups. These students were what...between 14-18 years old...and yet most had the skill level of an academy  students and fresh genuin with only a few notable exceptions?
Sure, there were - honestly ridiculous- versatile and powerful bloodline abilities being thrown around like nothing, but ninjutsu techniques only took a shinobi so far without a strong base to work from. He shakes his head, reminding himself that these kids - because what else did you call combatants who hadn’t graduated yet- weren’t shinobi in training and would be policing civilians and engaging ‘Villains’ of similar skill levels. It was obvious that the students favoured non-lethal takedown methods and put little to no thought into stealth and misdirection during fights.
Different words…different priorities.
As Kakashi has yet to see any evidence that the country, Japan, was at war with another he thinks the skill level displayed might be serviceable. There were also no major conflicts between the country’s large cities over farmland, water sources and the like. Obviously, this place had sorted out the resource and distribution issues usually encountered when supporting such large populations. Or, who knows, maybe everything on the television was a carefully constructed lie to lull people into complacency.
Now he has seen an example of hero-students, he better understands the low combat ability demonstrated by the police. It also gives incite into the blurry recordings of Hero/Villain confrontations which played on repeat across the various ‘news’ reports. They all tended to hover around Chunin or maybe Special Jounin in terms of skill. He knows generalisations are dangerous so, until he saw the combat in person, he would exercise his usual level of caution. There were bound to be outliers after all-the impressive brute strength of the number one hero comes to mind- and there was no telling what advantages a bloodline ability might provide. Absently, he makes testing the susceptibly of people without chakra to genjustu as something to figure out sooner rather than later.
He sighs. This is why he hated the television. Whenever he watched it, he came away increasingly confused, with more questions than he had answers. Not to mention anything useful being constantly interrupted with information detailing one of the many products that he could apparently buy here. It irritated him to no end.
...
...
The chakra collecting seal is ready before the week is out. Mostly ready...it was ready enough.
Kakashi returns to the roof. Sitting cross-legged, back against the stairway entrance, he works his way through the 100 or so pens, cracking them open and tapping out ink into a large bowl, stolen -like the pens -from hospital staff.
The mix of black, blue and red ink is gluggy, forcing him to add water to thin the solution out. Once satisfied he pulls out an appropriated scalpel – one of a growing collection hidden alongside his pens because having a stash of weapons is never a bad thing- pricking his middle finger, watching the blood drip and curdle with the mixture. The blood would be absorbed into the ink, allowing it to conduct chakra. He mixes everything with pair of disposable chopsticks, taking care not to spill it on the ground or stain his hands.
The whole process reminds him of other insistences where he had improvised fuinjutsu ink in the field. The last time being during his final Anbu missions where he had created a body storage scroll from scratch after unexpectedly losing a squad mate on what should have been a simple intel retrieval mission. Not a particularly fond memory but a memory he was stuck with.
Since his demotion to Jonin-sensei there had been fewer of those sorts of missions. Not that being a Jonin-sensei had been easy – considering all his students had gone off to find other teachers he didn't even think he had been particularly good at it - bringing with it its own special brand of stress, culminating in a stint as Hokage, a fourth war and him stuck here. He is pretty sure his experiences aren't universal. Team 7 was just cursed to fail in increasingly spectacular ways.
He lets out a heavy sigh, leaving his airways open to a sudden gust of cold wind which carries the scent of cleaning chemicals from the hospital and oil from the road straight up his nose. He exhales forcefully and mentally bumps finding a face mask up his list of priorities. It would be good for hiding his features and dulling the artificial smells of a city housing over a million people.
The sound of wind whistling around the building almost blocks out the echo of feet in the stairway, approaching his location. In one smooth motion, Kakashi stands pushing the remaining broken pen back into the vent, nudging the cover back in place with his foot. Carefully he holds the bowl of ink in his injured arm and a scalpel in the other. Kakashi steps back against the entrance so the outward opening door would hide him from whoever came out.
A crying kid comes barrelling through the door.
Well, not completely crying, more like sniffing loudly, eyes all shiny. He even recognises the kid from the U.A combat demonstration, as improbable as that was. It is the first year hero student with the speed-enhancing ability which, seeing him up close, probably had something to do with the strange growths coming out of his caff muscles. High speed movement put enormous strain on the body so he could reasonably conclude that the kid was physically resilient to acceleration stress and similar forces. Not resilient to stabbing though....
Kakashi forces himself to relax, his scalpel lowering ever so slightly. Lucky he had heard the kid coming or he might have accidentally hurt him. A few weeks of reduced sleep coupled with a lot of time to ruminate on past missions and failures has put him on edge. This was exactly why he disliked taking extended breaks.
Maybe, Kakashi should start relocking the stairway if he was planning to make regular trips up here because the young male probably hadn’t had the roof in mind as a destination. Kakashi knows from experience that, unless you were injured or a member of staff, there were few good reasons to wander around a hospital at odd hours.
With the hero-student distracted sniffling into his arm, Kakashi slips around the door and back down the stairs. He hadn’t planned on applying the seal on the roof anyway. Too exposed to the elements and the concrete was too rough for the delicate line work.
He continues mixing while he walks, having mentally mapped the hospital well enough to know which hallways to use and which to avoid. There is a surgeon with some sort of heat-sensing vision who works late most nights that he must be careful around and a nurse with a weak proximity based empathic ability working in paediatrics. Both obstacles force him to take a meandering detour on his way to the ground floor and  the larger shower blocks which housed  cubicles the size of small rooms. Enough smooth floorspace for the expanded seal design and easy to clean afterwards. He supposes he is lucky, some complicated fuinjutsu required several meters worth of floor space. The containment on Saskue’s cursed seal comes to mind and he is glad that this seal is infinity smaller.
Not one to waste time knowing that nurses and patients regularly used the space even this late in the evening, he immediately slips into a cubicle upon arrival. Flopping onto the floor he pulls out the paintbrush he had had scour the hospital for and eventually to steal from the children’s ward. Carefully, he begins the slow process of application.
The final seal design is circular, about the size of his splayed hand, positioned on his uninjured shoulder just above where his Anbu seal had previously sat. The sleepwear provided by the hospital had sleeves that extend just past his bicep. It hid the design, for the most part. The final visible seal is a bit bigger than he had predicted or planned for. If this were a proper infiltration mission, where blowing his cover came at the price of death, he would be in big trouble. If this were a proper mission, he would have waited before applying this. An unnecessary risk. He itches the back of his head, turning from where he is craning his neck to see the seal, gathering up his supplies to be thrown in one of the hospital’s many rubbish bins. Kakashi lets out a breath. Maybe, this whole ‘trapped in a different world’ thing is affecting him more than he was willing to admit and making him sloppy.
He pulls down the sleeve so it mostly hides the design. Not like the doctors here would recognise the significance of fuinjutsu, he reminds himself, even if their questions would be annoying to deflect.
He pumps chakra into the seal and a jolt akin to lightning runs down his limb. It activates without issue and Kakashi grimaces as his chakra is slowly drained and collected. The rate of the drain is pathetically slow. Three years too slow. But, between this and his sharingan - which was always active and draining chakra- he can’t risk making it quicker. Despite the relatively low-level threats around him, Kakashi is, first and foremost, a Jonin in an unknown territory who is already taking risks simply making and applying the seal. He can’t afford to impair himself with poor chakra management on top of everything else.
Kakashi pops his head out of the cubical, scanning the shower block. Nothing of note has changed and he darts out, intent on returning to his room. He is tired and it would be a long, tiresome week as his body adjusted to the strain as well.

Chunin Exams: Shikamaru vs. Temari
So this will be long, so be ready for some deep diving. I’d been thinking this for quite a while so let’s go.
One of my favorite Chunin Exams’s match has to be Shikamaru vs. Temari. This may not be much of a surprise for any of you, but maybe the reason why it is between my top 3 will surprise more than one.
Obviously the ship factor made me like this battle even more, but it’s not even a primary or secondary reason for why I love this match. This battle stands out to me as being one of the most truthful ninja fights of the whole arc. Why? Because a ninja fight, as Kakashi would day during the Zabuza’s arc is about always plotting, to know when to do certain thing, to know when to not to do them and just hide and to work with the tools you have.
It’s a battle were the brains out beats the brute force, where the strength is the last resource and the strategy primes as the best thing a ninja can have. It about deciphering our opponent, carrying out the best strategy and ensuring the win as much as possible and both Shikamaru and Temari excel at being this masterminds. They make the most out of their battle and, in my opinion, they both shine through as not only capable but highly advanced strategists, specially for their short age.
That’s why when I hear people going like “No, she’s not.” when Asuma says that Temari she is bright and that she thinks like Shikamaru (she thinks ahead) or say that “Shikamaru could have easily beat Temari if he wasn’t that lazy” I just feel like crying.
However, it’s not people’s fault after all. The direction of the match in both the anime and the manga makes Shikamaru’s strategy the wow factor. I am not saying his tactic is not genius, I would be pretty lame if I said that, nor that Shikamaru is not more intelligent than Temari (He is the most brilliant person of his generation, specially when it comes to strategy) and he deserved the recognition because the tactic he carried through was slick af. It’s one of the many reason why Shikamaru is my absolute favorite character in Naruto (I love him so much).
However, I think that Shikamaru’s genius shouldn’t by any means diminish Temari’s wit. Because she was also delivering quite a good fight, she was a good match for Shikamaru (which ain’t easy) and (I personally think) had a pretty accurate strategy.
So, I gave myself the job of being Temari’s Asuma and explain in full detail what I think, through my reading, was Temari’s strategy. Because my girl deserves more recognition. She is a strategist and a really good one.
1. Context
One thing I think it’s important to mention before anything is the context of the match.
If we come to think about it, it wouldn’t be that far-fetched to say that Temari couldn’t waste that much chakra nor show new abilities in her fight against Shikamaru. Let’s remember that the Sand only participated in the Chunin Exams because of the attack, to execute the Konoha Crush. A plan for which the Sand Siblings, specially Gaara, were crucial. Even we get to see Kankuro forfeiting of his fight against Shino in order to keep his techniques a secret and wait for the time to make the move.
However Temari didn’t had the same luck. It would be suspicious if the two of them just gave up. My reading of the situation is that actually neither of them expected to fight their respective matches as Gaara’s match against Sasuke was before theirs. Still, if someone had to fight Temari knew that would be her because,
a. Kankuro was against Shino who had shown to be a beast, and hence, it was more likely that he would have to use higher tier attacks.
b. Temari showed to be quite confident of her skills and Shikamaru, though he had shown to be intelligent (not to the extent of this match but intelligent nonetheless) he was the weakest of the finalist in terms of raw strength.
So, Temari had to be the one to fight. Otherwise the plan would fall apart, and although she wasn’t sure about attacking from the start, she was extremely loyal to her village and would never do something to hurt it. However she couldn’t be imprudent, hence, she didn’t had to waste that much chakra in order not to tire herself that much and couldn’t show new wind style techniques as that would only weaken the surprise effect this might have (let’s remember she was in a stadium filled with highly capable Shinobi, Chunin and Jonin Level)
But although she couldn’t be imprudent, she also couldn’t let herself be defeated. After all, she is Temari. She had figure out a way to win despite the limitations she had which brings us to the fight itself.
2. First Movement: Gaining Information
The first thing Temari knows is that she needs some information about the match and the rival so she starts off by trying to get an action or a least a reaction from Shikamaru, which proved to be quite draining due to his usual unmotivated behavior.
The frontal and direct attacks of Temari at the beginning of the match serve that purpose.
Unlike her match against Tenten, where she could just start of in complete defensiveness she quickly realized that that wouldn’t work with Shikamaru. I am pretty sure Temari is one of those fighters who don’t like to make the first move but to wait and recollect information from her adversaries (after all i  her battle against Tenten, in which she always seemed comfortable she did just that) but as she knew that couldn’t be the case as while Tenten is someone active, Shikamaru is more of reactive fighter she just attacked to get the necessary information to use with her previous knowledge (which I’ll also proceed to explain) to plan a strategy.
She knew from Shikamaru’s fight against Kin (the sound ninja) that it was quite likely that the Shadow Posession Jutsu had:
a. A range
b. Short duration spam.
c. Wasted to much chakra.
After all, Shikamaru was always shown to be pretty cautious about how and when he used it. That’s why the jutsu doesn’t seem much of a threat at the beginning as if she could manage to identify the range of his jutsu she could just stay away from it and make him waste chakra.
If to that we add that Shikamaru’s reaction was to hide she also gained a panorama of how the fight will be like. It’ll most likely be a long-lasting battle based more in indirect attacks and meticulously planning than in strength.
This seemed to match quite well, which justifies Temari’s smile as Shikamaru hides. At first glance stretching out the duration of the battle and fighting long-range was just perfect for her as she could save as much chakra as possible, dodging the attacks of Shikamaru while making him waste as much chakra as possible.
Hence, although Temari was overconfident (aspect I’ll talk about in more detail later) she had a reason to be so. She had a fairly strong plan, and everything seemed to be falling in the right place.
2. Identifying the Range and the Sun
The first attacks of Shikamaru just seem to work on perfectly for Temari as she achieves to find out her shadow range, a jaw-dropping fifteen meters thirty-two centimetres (like she is also a mathematician in her own right).
It’s then when Shikamaru shows her that there was one factor she hadn’t thought about before: the sun. When the shadow reaches a longer distance than it had already done she quickly deduces that as the sun sets the shadow of the wall was getting larger, hence elongating the shadow making his range bigger.
And Temari quickly adapts to the situation working out several plans she could use. She decides the better was keeping up with the angle and the direction from which the sun is hitting the wall and the growth in his shadow in order to be able to calculate an equation that would keep him away from his shadow.
This is good because while some may just freak out and try to use brute force to finish it, as seemingly stretching the match no longer holds any sense, Temari takes her time to think and finds a way to use her skills and knowledge in battle. This is no easy task, as we see that a lot of highly talented shinobis on paper had a tough time in practice. But she is so great that she comes up with a way that doesn’t directly throws the entire plan she had come up with to the trash.
3. Surprise Attack
Well I got to say this. I don’t like that Kankuro warns Temari about Shikamaru’s  home-made parachute because I easily think that she could have realized by herself. She had shown all through the battle to have great observational skills and to be quite focused so I think that Kishimoto could have easily come up with that.
Still, I understand that Kishomoto through this fight tries to justify that Shikamaru was the one that would become a Chunin, so nerfing Temari isn’t the worst thing out of all. I don’t like it but isn’t that bad if we take into consideration the other thingd that were done in the manga.
However is through her ability to dodge this attack we get Asuma’s and Shikamaru’s reaction and recognition of Temari’s skills. She is a really good shinobi, quick, intelligent and competent.
Yes, Shikamaru had just gotten her in the position she wanted but what he said he truly meant it, which means a lot given his chauvinistic behavior at the begging of Naruto. She is fast learner, she is capable to dodge attacks that no regular genin could or as Shikamaru said in Naruto Ninja Storm 4 (yes, I usually hate most of the scenes in this game but this one ShikaTema scene was so sport on) that she was the first person of his age to be able dodge that many attacks from him, which leaves me to another point.
4. Moves Ahead
It’s almost a meme that Shikamaru has a 200 IQ and that he is 200 moves ahead everyone else but what I really think that people don’t understand is that for Shikamaru each an everyone of those moves, from the first one to the the two hundred, could be the last one. When Shikamaru plans out a strategy he may use some moves that are feints but those feints may also work to end the match to less skilled rivals. Each move works as an individual move as part of a whole. That is other level, is genius. Prove of the overtly exaggerated 200 IQ, almost everyone could seem dumb beside him.
However, the complexity of the strategy he used against Temari shows us that how knew that he needed to come up with something good in order to be able to beat her. She wouldn’t fall for something straightfoward because she showed to be several steps ahead also.
She had shown to easily decipher his jutsu’s range, she had found elements that could have served him as an advantage and she had been skillful enough to move around the field avoiding his jutsu with ease. And he knows that because
a. He had seen it,
b. She had told it to him, which I think was one of the biggest mistakes of Temari derived from her over-confidence.
That’s why his plan had to be slick in order to win which brings up the end of the match.
5. Checkmate
After seeing that Shikamaru’s shadow range was almost unlimited and that her chances of measuring it were incredibly low she then decides to end it once and for all because;
a. If she extended the match much longer it was almost inevitable that she will end up being caught by his shadow paralysis jutsu
b. She couldn’t risk to waste a lot of chakra since, I have already mentioned, it was indispensable she was in good conditions for the Konoha Crush.
But it’s interesting the movement she plans out in order to beat Shikamaru since it shows that she is very aware of her own tools and abilities and of the abilities of her rival. One clone will take the attention of him, falling in his shadows paralysis while she just bluntly beat him with her crushing wind style. Fairly simple, but also extremely effective.
When Shikamaru caught her and shows her his strategy Temari quickly understands what he had done. She had underestimated both his jutsu and his mind and that added with her over-confidence in her analysis was what gave Shikamaru the necessary information to caught her.
She is genuinely surprised as the rest of the crowd but they are even more when he gives up.
That was just a masterful decision of Kishimoto, I got to give him that, because it not only make Shikamaru be cool af for the audience, but also for two things that are lest often touched upon:
a. In terms of Shikamaru it showed the genius he is, the smartest person of his generation by far, capable of examining the situation and choose the best option to execute. He was running out of chakra while his rival was safe and sound. In a real life mission the best option is retreat, and that’s what he does. This is shows to Temari than he and Shikamaru are actually much more alike than she had thought. They both are rational thinkers, who measure cons and pros and are able to come up with a logical analysis but they are also pretty conscious of themselves and others. That’s what Asuma means when he says they think alike, that why they always seem to work along together despite their seemingly clashing personalities.
b. In terms of Temari she gets the bittersweet victory. She archived what she wanted, making him run out of chakra, but not how she wanted to do so. It is deserved and undeserved at the same time which conflicts her. If the battle had continued it was more than likely she had won as she wanted to but it didn’t which let her thinking that, if he could he could have easily beat her even though he states that not to be the reason. After all he had clearly outsmarted her, and that was what was the most important for her, despite her win was deserved in my opinion (not because she was more intelligent than him, because no one really is, but because, at the end, she managed with her wit and talent to make it impossible for him to continue). She thinks that her over-confidence and her analysis which she prides of, was the thing that took her down and that it’s quite important for her character and her relationships with others. We’ll get to see how this affected her in her following appearances, when we get to see her when she goes to fight against Tayuya she carefully listens to Shikamaru’s analysis, although at the end she decides to do it her way (an nails it), her decision was derived from her listing to his words and all he got to say.
At the end Temari will always be her wonderful confident self (that’s only another reason to love her) but after this match she shows to be more cautious when underestimating her rivals, however you shouldn’t dare underestimate her.

Boruto EP226
aka: “the future is now thanks to science!”
Oh? The preview showed Denki vs Tsubaki’s match but I never assumed it would be the last one.. which means..
“Boruto uzumaki and Mitsuki.. both participants are disqualified, due to their absence!” Well, that’s real unfortunate.
Considering team 15 already has a chunin with Wasabi and team 5 doesn’t, I can assume they’re going to make Denki win for that reason alone, which sucks, because how?
“Did we make it?” “Nope, you didn’t make it at all!” Ohh Sarada is pissed!
The whole “scientific tools is allowed” rule was made just for Denki honestly, god knows he wouldn’t stand a chance without them.
Ohh, even Shinki recognizes Tsubaki has speed
Of course Katasuke comes to watch this match.
“Dr. Katasuke, you must feel awkward considering what happened in the previous chunin exam, right?” Always gotta love how blunt Mitsuki is.
Ah, but if Tsubaki loses, I can see how that would make her want to stay in Konoha instead of return home to the Land of Iron.
I mean, I shouldn’t be too hard on Denki, since the idea of the scientific tools are essentially like puppet masters, but still.. jutsu. technology. not quite the same in my eyes.
There ya go, Tsubaki figured out his secret and landed a few good hits by being unpredictable and destroying his motion sensor.
Now that the tools are overheating, I can’t imagine him winning, and yet I still feel like I’m gonna be disappointed.
Hm.. he actually let his mecha suit be destroyed and actually used a jutsu himself.. okay.
I can’t believe we live in a world where Denki is a chunin but Boruto and Mitsuki are not.. how wild.
Sarada trying so hard to be mad at the boys but she still appreciates their congrats on her promotion.
The girls are so happy to have Tsubaki stay with them.
Gaara really sent team Shinki here on a mission to observe Kawaki huh.
Poor Shikadai is stuck paying for the entire team’s meal.
Aww, Houki with his chunin vest though.
Sarada showing her vest off to Sasuke and Sakura too! Proud parents!
OH Mitsuki and Boruto went back to the stadium to have their match but we don’t get to see it?? Damn!
Preview thoughts:
Ahh that shinobi Sakura is healing.. it’s Mirai isn’t it? It has to be, Kurenai is right there. Oh nooo!
I should be concerned that Konohamaru is missing and needs backup, but Mirai though. She has my attention.
And it doesn’t even surprise me that they don’t even have Sarada wearing the chunin vest..

Always So Late
Tumblr media
Kakashi Hatake/Genma Shiranui
990 Words
Kiss: The Peck
He knew that they were going to be late. That much was obvious when Sasuke refused to leave until he had managed to produce a chidori to his standards, and although Kakashi was known to be late to everything he was aware of inappropriate times to keep people waiting. The Chunin exams were something you didn’t miss. Losing your match to a forfeit because you were late just wasn’t the way to miss out on a promotion, and there was no doubt in his mind Sasuke would be pissed if that was what ended up happening.
Of course, being late doesn’t mean he has to be any less dramatic with the entrance. In fact it gives him a great excuse to make a show out of him and Sasuke when they do finally manage to show up and for some reason Sasuke likes the idea.
He’s certain it has something to do with one loud mouth blonde haired teammate, even if Sasuke denies it.
Of course, even with Sasuke’s agreement on the plan to be a pair of dramatic shits, it took a little while for the two of them to agree on a dramatic but relaxed way to show themselves. When they finally manage to find a style they both liked they’re damn proud of it. Kakashi’s only regret is not having enough time to cut Sasuke’s hair. That was going to have to wait until after his battle.
With their plans figured out, Kakashi stood with his back to Sasuke and focused his chakra, disappearing from the field that had spent the last month training in and arriving in a puff of smoke in the middle of the stadium where the chunin exams were always held.
With all eyes on them and Naruto’s screams from the stand admonishing them for being late to ‘this’ of all things, Kakashi can’t help but smile.
It’s perfect.
“Sorry for being late,” He throws a playful smile Genma’s way, chuckling when the other man leveled him with an unimpressed look. Apparently he wasn’t getting out of it that easily. “I hope we didn’t miss anything interesting.”
“You’ll have to ask Naruto about that.” The way Genma said that made him seriously contemplate asking Naruto about his match, though he was certain given the smug smirk on Genma’s face that his student had won.
Looks like this was a bet he had won over Gai, which was great. He hadn’t had proper Miso soup in a month and getting a steaming bowl without having to pay sounded wonderful.
He was going to order extra eggplant.
Glancing over at Sasuke, he smiled when he saw his student looking back at him. There was a determination in the kids eyes that had been there for the last month of training. Sasuke was going to do everything he could to win his fight, and Kakashi could only hope he had given him the skills he needed to do it.
“Try not to destroy the whole field, hmmm?” he reached over and tapped Sasuke on the top of his head in a playful manner “Genma always gets so mad at me when i make a mess, and he’s going to blame me if you do it.”
“Maybe you need a new boyfriend then,” Sasuke smirked “One that isn’t so boring.”
“Nah, i think i’ll keep this one,” he smiled. “I’ll be up in the stands watching. Don’t lose or i’ll tell Naruto you missed him while you were training.”
Sasuke narrowed his eyes. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Don’t lose and you won’t have to find out the answer to that.” He waved a dismissive hand, ignoring the way Sasuke huffed and muttered a threat under his breath, and made his way towards Genma.
“So are you trying to get under lord thirds skin, or did you actually lose track of time?” Genma asked, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
“If i told you it wasn’t my fault this time would you believe me?” A simple raise of an eyebrow told him that the answer was no. “I guess i’ll just have to come up with an excuse then, just in case he asks.”
“I hope it’s a good one,” Genma huffed. “Get up into the stands. I want to get this fight over with and relax before the next round.”
“And by relax do you mean…” giving his eyes a suggestive wiggle, Kakashi chuckled when Genma responded by smacking him in the shoulder. “Are you saying you haven’t missed me at all the whole month I was gone.”
Genma turned his eyes towards the pair standing behind them waiting for their match to start.
“It was...quieter,” He admitted with a playful smile “but there were things I missed. I can tell you about them, after the match.”
Taking the hint, Kakashi reached up and carefully removed his mask, glad that the spot he was standing in was perfect for blocking all three of his students from seeing what was going on.
He could almost hear Naruto screaming in the background.
“I expect a lot of kisses,” he chuckled when Genma’s eyes widened. It was so rare for him to take his mask off in public that even his boyfriend was surprised. “But for now…”
Leaning in, he pressed a quick kiss against Genma’s lips. Just enough for him to get a taste of what was waiting for him later when they could be alone. With his goal achieved he straightened up and returned his mask into place over the lower part of his face.
“I’ll see you later.” disappearing from the field with a quick jump, he landed with ease just in front of Gai and Lee and watched as Genma glared at him from down below. Apparently someone wasn’t too happy with just one small quick kiss.
Too bad he was going to have to wait until after Sasuke’s match to get more.
