Redbird alums Joe Murphy ’82 and Lori (Cavallini) Campione ’80 are coming to Washington, D.C.
--------------
Murphy and Campione received five-star treatment sharing a dressing room with performers like six-time Grammy Award-winner Dionne Warwick and award-winning actor, singer, songwriter, and producer Darren Criss.
“We were in the green room with these big-name celebrities, but before we knew it, they turned the tables on us and were asking us for selfies. We thought they were the rock stars but they thought we were,” said Campione.
After talking with Criss, the Glee alum offered to make a video for Murphy’s daughter, who is a huge fan. Then, the tables were turned on Murphy and Campione once again when they made a video from Santa and Mrs. Claus for Criss’ daughter. This friendship then led to Murphy and Campione being invited on stage at one of Criss’ concerts in the weeks following the tree lighting. It’s safe to say these two make an impact on everyone they meet.
The Buddies universe and Elderitch Horror: An essay
Okay, so you probably read the title and asked yourself: “What the fuck did I just read?” And That’s a justified reaction. I mean, who even gives a shit about some shitty disney direct to DVD franchise that’s a spinoff of some stupid dog sports movie?
Me, I do, all too much. Let me explain.
For context, the Buddies franchise is a spinoff of Air Bud, a movie series about a Golden Retriever who plays basketball. Why they decided to make a spinoff about Air Bud’s offspring is… I don’t fucking know, Puppies sells more DVDs and VHSs. The First movie, Air Buddies, was just 101 Dalmatians but with 92 less dogs and Golden Retrievers, and overall wasn’t a great movie… But it sold quite well, and so Air Bud died so Buddies could dominate.
Next was Snow Buddies which, than having 5 dogs die on set and using underaged dogs, thus making causing the “No animals were harmed in the making of this film” Disclaimer to be removed, it still sold quite well, and the franchise continued, much to the dismay of the USDA…
And from there, the franchise went off the rails.
Instead of making normal talking animal movies like everyone else, the Buddies decided to smoke a shit ton of crack and made 5 sequels (7 if you count the Santa Paws spinoff) that are so bizarre, that I need to talk about them or it will eat me up inside.
So, without further ado, let’s begin.
To start things off normally, Santa Claus exists, thanks to Santa Paws and its sequel, alongside the crossover movie Santa Buddies. Now, there’s nothing much I can say here. I mean, that’s pretty normal for kids movies. Santa is a part of childhood for many and, naturally, his existence makes sense in family media.
“Really,” I hear you asking, “Santa Claus is normal for kids' media. Where does it start getting complicated?”
Don’t worry, you’ll see soon enough.
We next go to treasure buddies, where we learn magic exists alongside ancient curses. Evidence for this includes that one moment when B-Dawg (the thug one) gets turned into a cat and Ubatsi (the cat) gets turned into Stone like Ash Ketchum at the end of the first pokemon movie. Now, of course, Santa Claus’ existence paves the way for more magic to exist, so it’s only natural that magical curses and shit like that would exist. But that’s it, right? I mean, those two instances of magic are all that exist, right…?
You see, when I said Treasure Buddies introduced magic into the world of Buddies, I was lying. It was actually introduced earlier, and with far, far more sinister implications.
And this is where the eldritch gods come into play.
In Spooky Buddies, we are introduced to the Halloween Hound, an eldritch demon who seeks to bring hell itself to earth and destroy humanity. And not only are we introduced to him, but we are also introduced to an Occultic follower of his, Warwick the Warlock, who has a magical staff that can bridge the worlds of hell and earth together. And also we’re introduced to ghosts, but that’s not really important. The existence of Santa Claus and Egyptian curses are somewhat normal for kids' media, but Eldritch gods aren’t. The truth of the matter is, that this world is at constant threat of demonic invasion and the apocalypse.
But there is more than one way to end the world, as we see.
Let me explain why Space Buddies is here.
In the movie, we find out that technology has developed to the point that faster than light communication is possible and that Shuttles are able to be piloted from control and launched into space without the need of rockets. We learn why technology has developed so fast, as we see that the Soviet Union still exists, with Yuri and Sputnik being cosmonauts aboard a Soviet Space station. This implies that the Cold War never ended and that, instead, the two powers still face each other. Such advance technology implies a very tense atmosphere between the two powers and, thus, the high likely hood of nuclear war.
But why does this technology exist? Hyper advanced shuttles, faster than light communication, all of it implies that the two powers are far stronger than in our timeline. Or maybe, that they are not preparing to destroy each other, but instead preparing to defend against something far, far worse than anyone could ever imagine…
We find out the real reason why technology is so advanced in Super Buddies, where it is revealed that an alien technology exists, including the rings of Inspiron which give the Buddies super powers. But technology doesn’t come out of nowhere, and it’s not all that comes from beyond. In the far reaches of the galaxy, Commander Drex, healing from an alien empire, seeks to conquer earth for itself, as it had done to the planet Inspiron before. The few survivors of the massacre on Inspiron, including the exiled leader Megasis, who took on the name Captain Canine in order to hide from the empire, are scattered across the galaxy, unable to prevent the coming conquest of all worlds. Even with the defeat of Commander Drex at the end of the movie, the empire still lives on and Earth is now defenseless without the rings that once protected it. In truth, the world of the Buddies is now doomed to destruction.
And I know what you’re going to say: “Dude, you’re crazy. It’s not like all of these movies are connected, right?” Wrong. At the end of Super Buddies, Commander Drex, distracted by the decoy rings melting, crashes into an asteroid field and dies. But not just any Asteroid field, mind you, it’s the exact same Asteroid field from Space Buddies, thus proving a connection between atleast Space Buddies and Super Buddies. And if I’m right, which I have every reason to be, then a horrifying conclusion has to be drawn.
The Buddies universe is an eldritch nightmare.
This is a universe where Eldritch Gods exist, tearing away at the fabric of reality, where Egyptian curses lie in wait to be unleashed upon the world, where Cold War tensions continue to tear the world apart through technological progress and political chaos, where the world is on the brink of Alien invasion, where not even the concept of Childhood himself can stop the apocalypse, and all that stands in the way between earth and oblivion, are 5 Golden Retriever Puppies. It’s a miracle that earth has survived this long, but the buddies will eventually fail to stop the inevitable end.
And with Jungle Buddies coming out in 2025, I have high reasons to believe that the world of the buddies will be fully unrolled for what it is, the perfect Eldritch horror story, disguised as a shitty direct to DVD turned Disney plus exclusive franchise…
Or maybe I’m just fucking stupid and this whole essay was just my insane ramblings at 11:25 PM EST, that could work too.
C.C. raised an eyebrow. She clearly recognized Lelia as well. However, now wasn’t the time to ask.
Composing herself Lelia nodded, “Pleasure to meet you. I’m Commander Lelia Malcal, and this is Lieutenant Akito Hyuga, Lieutenant Colonel Warwick Claus, and Ashley Ashra.”

“Do we make sense? I think we do,
in spite of everything we’ve been through,

under your scars, I pray you’re like a shooting star in the rain,
you’re everything that feels like home to me, yeah.”

looks like JESSICA CLAUS blew in THIRTY-TWO YEARS AGO and never left. they’ve proven themselves to be FRIENDLY & TOUGH, but being OUTSPOKEN & RAMBUNCTIOUS is their downfall. it’s only fitting that ABBA’S, LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME is playing when they leave their home in SALEM’S LOT. rumor has it that they are RELATED TO WITCHES FROM THE SALEM WITCH TRIALS, wonder if that’s why the VETERINARIAN moved out of their place in DALLAS, TEXAS.

iii: a biography
she was ten when her mother died, and just a couple of months later her family would move to the town called Salem. she was the oldest child of the Claus family, and because she was born a girl, she’d soon find herself taking on the role of her mother; caring for her brothers, making sure they cleaned behind their ears, and serving them up different meals she learned to grow up fast, but that heart in her chest would still beat with a youthful and playful imagination.
despite a natural beauty inherited from her mother, jessie claus has never found herself to be beautiful. once her mother got sick, it was hard for her father to keep up with anything, his daughter’s appearances included. –no matter how meticulous she was when she brushed her hair, it would always end up twisted into two braids that fell at the tips of her shoulder blades. fitting in was hard–especially once rumors started flying about how much Jessie resembled some witches in the Salem Witch Museum.
to make matters worse the new house they moved into fell into a crisp one night. the smoke danced in the dark night clouds as the family of eight watched the foundations crumble. and though her father said he believed her, that the fire was an accident and that she wasn’t to blame for the candle tipping over, she couldn’t be so certain that he was right at all.
Jessie’s, since then, believed she was cursed. She never had much of a love life– the natural born caretaker never could clear her reputation in fostering young ones of her own, and eventually she fell into caring for animals instead. she’s a veterinarian, with a heart of gold, often falling whimsy to the dreamscape she’d so early on painted for herself. the warmth in her heart burns for caregiving, and she hopes to extend that warmth to any who need it.

The Sylvers, (known as The Little Angels in their early years), were an American R&B/Soul family vocal group from Watts, Los Angeles, California. The Sylvers were one of the most popular acts during the 1970s, recording the hit singles "Fool's Paradise", "Boogie Fever" and "Hot Line". Prior to becoming the Sylvers, the four eldest members (Olympia, Leon, Charmaine, and James) recorded as the Little Angels, appearing on shows such as Make Room for Daddy and You Bet Your Life, and opening for such acts as Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles. During this time, two singles were released: "Santa Claus Parade" b/w "I'll Be a Little Angel" on Warwick Records (United States) and "Says You" b/w "Olympia" on Capitol Records.

…Phew! I can’t really say where this short story came from, seeing as I haven’t otherwise written or finished so much as a simple one-shot for any fandom in honest-to-god years (due to factors like depression, anxiety, etc.), but there it is. ~8k, short and sweet. Or bittersweet, whichever. It was a cathartic exercise in writing Lucas (+Ninten) family fluff w/accompanying headcanons I’ve been turning over for both the first and last games in the series.
Which, alongside Catherine Warwick’s vocals helped me almost gather myself together into a whole human-bean again, after that Mother 3 ending tore me to pieces.
Code Geass R3: The Stolen Knightmare?! (SNEAK PEEK)
Elise turned to Akito, Leila and the rest as she cried: “COVER YOUR EARS, QUICK!!!” They did so, but in their minds, they saw Siobhan was tilting her head to the side while singing and her hands going down her thighs. She hits herself against the wall in ecstasy while she tortures Akito and Ryo with images of herself pleasuring herself and the people she is torturing. However; Elise was enraged rescues Akito and Ryo from the agony as she caused Siobhan to suffer pain of her powers. The others was saved but shaken up. Siobhan laughed, “Bravo, Madoka, such spirited words!” She exclaimed. Madoka whirled around as the others hid in the distance and called out, “More tricks, dark mistress?” She retorted. “Let's see, m’lady, how far you dare go!” Siobhan barked. Her psychic powers attacking Madoka, who dodges them, “More deception? More violence?” She hollered. “That's right, that's right, Madoka! Keep walking this way!” Siobhan taunted. “You can't win by making innocent people your prisoners!” Madoka exclaimed. Siobhan laughs excitedly, “I'm here, I'm here, Madoka: the angel of darkness!” She taunted, “Come on, come on, Madoka! Don't stop, don't stop!” Angry; Akito called out, “Stop this now!” Madoka then call out, “NOW!!!” Ayano is behind and knocked out the two sisters. “That was for hurting my friends, crazy witches!” She uttered. But her eyes softened, “Why would you do that?” She whispered. Later; Leila is working when Claus enters. “So, how is she?” Leila asked. “Ah, well…She’s stubborn. She’s not talking and neither is her sister.” Lieutenant Colonel Warwick reported. Leila was quiet before she said: “Bring them in here, I’ll talk to them.” Claus is taken aback so she contacts Lieutenant Hyuga: “Bring Siobhan and Jodene here, get Ashra and Sayama to accompanied you in case they get violent.” Instructed Leila. “Yes ma’m.” replied Akito. Later; Siobhan and Jodene were brought to Leila as they seated before her while Akito, Ashley and Ryo are behind the sisters while Madoka is beside Leila on the left and Claus Warwick on the right. “You need to tell us, why you are doing this?” asked Leila. Siobhan leans over, “Commander, I’m investigating things that begin with the letter M….Matricies. Malice….Mmm—mad—madness?” She thinks out loud. “We’re looking for an A word I believe.” Claus said. Siobhan looked shocked, “An A word? Oh god.” She gasped dramatically. “Tsk, tsk, tsk! I have never heard such language~!” Jodene said. “This isn’t a joke, you need to tell us…Why do you want the Knightmare called Anastasia?” Leila inquired. Siobhan stood up as she exclaimed: “Because that girl stole it from us!” Madoka was confused, “What are you talking about?” She asked. “You took it from the storage we had it in there!” Jodene clarified.
“The Christmas tree will inevitably and properly suggest the One who grew to manhood to "bear our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.” Family reunions will point to the truth that where two or three are gathered together, there Christ is in the midst, as well as to the family of the Redeemed, the clouds of witnesses, and the Church Triumphant that we shall ourselves join by God’s grace before many more Christmases have passed. The dinners and the parties will speak of the Christ who hallowed feasts when he walked this earth and who constitutes “living Bread come down from heaven.” The centrality of children at this blessed season should remind us that childlike faith before the mysteries of the Incarnation is a requisite for participation in his kingdom. And even (or especially?) the archetypal and ubiquitous Santa Claus, who comes from a numinous land of snow-white purity to give gifts to those who have nothing of their own, proclaims to all who have ears to hear the message of the entrance of God into our sinful world to “give gifts to men.”“
