A meditation on the logic of searching, on memory as an infinite loop, on the recursive nature of nostalgia in digital space. The interface of the self is written in code, fragments of longing parsed through syntax, attempts at retrieval caught in an endless function.

Each line of text exists like a command prompt. Surrounded by a grid of screenshots the image becomes a collage of digital ephemera, where lost data and lost time blur into one.

Belén García Nieto

Belén García Nieto es el ejemplo perfecto de la unión de lo informático con la literatura y la poesía. Es programadora y poeta. Es uno de los primeros exponentes femeninos productores de codepoetry (poesía hecha con código de programación) en español.

Belén García Nieto emplea el codework para escribir sus poemas. Pero qué es el codework? Los codework son todas aquellas prácticas lingüísticas en las que el lenguaje natural (sea cual sea la lengua), se mezcla,  con lenguajes de programación del tipo que sean (el código u órdenes que aparecen invisibles a nuestra vista y dan forma a todo lo que aparece en pantalla). Creando un tipo de lenguaje o expresión mestiza (Hayles 2007), dirigido a los ordenadores, pero también a las personas,especialmente aquellas con conocimientos de programación.

Belén García cuenta con un blog propio, compilado.net1, donde pueden consultarse sus

poemas en lenguaje natural y sus poemas con código. Idee: Code Poetry

Ik ben gezegend met de vakken die ik aan studenten mag geven. Ze bevatten meestal genoeg dingen die jongeren leuk vinden. Voor sommige vakken is dat iets moeilijker. Ik zat te denken hoe we programmeren aantrekkelijker zouden kunnen maken en kwam op een idee.

Programmeurs hebben in zekere zin altijd een ondankbare rol. Hun goed werk blijft meestal onzichtbaar (gelukkig voelen mensen soms ook hoe goed iets werkt). Maar 1 foutje kan tot grote ergernis leiden bij gebruikers en bijgevolg de overige 99% aan mooi werk klasseren als rommel.

Ik vind het altijd geweldig om mensen met passie over hun werk te zien praten. TED talks zijn altijd een grote inspiratie. Het zou geweldig zijn indien we dat gevoel zouden kunnen verzamelen. En volgens mij kan dat via Code Poetry.

Code Poetry is een website waarop programmeurs stukjes code kunnen plaatsen met een verhaal. Stukjes logica waarover ze uren kunnen praten. Bij programmeren bestaan een aantal begrippen zoals DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) en KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Ongetwijfeld bestaan er stukjes code die deze principes alle eer aandoen.

Het onder de aandacht brengen van dit soort code heeft meerdere voordelen:

Hiermee genereren we goesting bij mensen die interesse hebben in programmeren.

Studenten kunnen veel leren van de feitelijke code.

We brengen mensen in contact met een aantal best practices uit de industrie.
