Birding groups on facebook: Someone posts a really beautiful photo of a starling doing starling things. The comments fill up with north american birders telling the OP that starlings are invasive and piling on the the first commenter who mentioned they know they're invasive, but they're really pretty. This goes on for hundreds of comments.
Birdblr: someone posts a really beautiful photo of starling doing starling things. The notes fill up with reblogs of a beautiful bird, a lot of people admiring how beautiful the starling is, and three birders and a legit ornithologist chiming in with cool starling facts and a surprisingly in depth history of 19th century acclimatization societies explaining how starlings got to north america.
I'm not saying that tumblr is inherently a less toxic place, but boy howdy do I prefer my experience here.

Common starlings have iridescent feathers which appear to have multiple colorations depending on the angle of light hitting them.

Yesterday was National Bison Day! I hope everyone learns to love these fluffy cows. Here's the design I drew for this month's sticker club.
