Plant Intelligence

Living a sustainable lifestyle is my life’s purpose, my journey began by acknowledging life’s precious vegetation, according to Emanuele Coccia a philosopher at the Ecole des Hautes plants and trees are the only beings capable of capturing solar energy and storing it as chemical bond within the mineral matter of the planet making them cosmogonic. From this perspective we can acknowledge the vegetation is not simply a commodity but rather it is a force of nature with animates all of the bodies that exist on Gaia, making Her a place of permanent metamorphosis, She is the face of evolution constant intentional change a true artist.  

I have watched thousands of video and read hundreds of journals, blogs and books on sustainable living and what stood out most was permaculture philosophy - essentially permanent agriculture which encourages ones to embrace all types of vegetation from the common fruit tree to wild weeds, it promotes root-to-shoot eating thus promoting zero waste and the reduction of chemical enhancement.- The online community and author all around the globe become my teachers only by demonstrating that it is possible to make my own compost from kitchen waste, to germinate and regrow seeds from the fruits and vegetable I consume daily (this has change my perspective on seedless vegetation, that to me is not real food, plants produce fruit to reproduce), to  forage for not only in the country side but also dead smack in the middle of the city. 

I constantly walk around my neighborhood wondering if I am surrounded by free greens, herbs, spices, grains, superfoods, and the answer is always YES! it is as if I opened a portal to a world free from big cooperation, deluded food hierarchy which only leads to malnutrition, body dysmorphia and over-consumption. I have taken in so much knowledge and still hungry for more, I am learning by making it possible for me to step out of my house and able to identify a Silk Floss Tree - its material often used for mattress or life-jacket stuffing, or a Carob Tree which is rich in potassium more so than bananas. 

Today I will introduce Red Amaranth into my diet, being able to receive food freely from nature is agape, a love that consumes all and exists regardless of changing circumstances. In Hindi this plant is named Ramdana which translate to God’s Grain, it is only fitting to receive it on the day that I choose to show gratitude to Her Supreme Gaia.
