the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

In one of your replies to someone about JayVik in season 1 you mentioned Riots poor handling of gay men and said something about K'Sante being horrible in his relationship with Tope. I personally really like K'Sante and I wish he got more content overall. It makes me happy seeing a big buff man being canonically gay and I was wondering if you dislike him or you're simply not interested in his character.

I like k'sante and was waiting for his launch when they started teasing him. but i think its extremely telling that they would pick /the gay man/ to get the story where his personality is too dysfunctional to maintain a relationship and the 'rep' is done through him watching his ex-lover get married to someone else. Specially when that short story came after arcane s1 I was just like. lol. lmao. ok! here we go again!

I'm not putting the blame on his blurb or short writers, from what I recall at least they let one of the gay writers tackle those but IIRC he also mentioned on his post launch comments that k'sante's personality was locked before he got the job and he had to work within defined limitations. This is about the company mandates.

We have multiple completely functional cutesy and explicit m/f (& f/f) relationships but when it comes to gay guys its absolute dust. 'k'sante is an arrogant overachiever that has to be humbled!!!!' 'TFgraves cant kiss or have a loveydovey story because they're too afraid to speak their feelings!!!!' 'varus is the spirit of two dead gay guys cursed to inhabit a demon homunculus!!!!' can I get one mainline gay couple that is given actual relationship progression on par with everyone else? It's hard to not be bitter when I know full well there is a bias at play, and they're only doing this because they're afraid straight guys will be disgusted.

I'm glad at the very least they let him be cute in the boyband AU but im not going to lie and say I wasn't disappointed with the launch choices. They even did the whole 'and Tope was his caring work/research partner but all K'sante did was fuck things up...' like oh brother

While plenty of prominent figures exist in successor myths, Pebble-Scratch In The Jute is one of the few who actually lived among the people. The accuracy of what is said about her is questionable, but she certainly turned heads. One tale boasts that she could push any drebyl or gul to the dirt without even using her sting; for she was quick and lean and slippery, and any that challenged her found themselves slow and cumbersome in comparison. Naturally the Blue Death in any shape was no match for her; she could climb its back where it could hardly reach, leap up, grab it by the horn and twist its neck just so— (at this point many storytellers would make a quick, rotation with their forepaws, as if wrestling with a sack)—so that it would snap like a stick, the beast dead at her feet. In some tellings it was only one terrible Blue Death, in others many, but wyvernslayer Pebble was still an exceedingly impressive title no matter the count. She wore the skull of a wyvern over her head like a hood, inspiring incredible claims of her strength all over the local network of communities and beyond. All the stories highlight her unique coloration, the result of a mutation which left her chitin a deep, iridescent red. While in reality she was probably prone to sensitivity and flaking, due to lacking blue structural pigments, many believed her mandibles and sting to possess a supernaturally potent venom.

Additionally some syrel inclined communities think she could talk to ghosts, and rarely there are whispers she was one of the long gone ancients in a new skin. More on syrel beliefs and their cultural associations with the color red later!

She's dead and gone now, but her story carries on.

Since I was sick after my vacation, I decided to finish up the "Oasis" house I was making for my IRL partner.

I should probably mention he plays a Lalafell Paladin who is sworn to protect the Sultana. So there's portraits of her in places of importance where his character would spend the most time. In actuality he just crafts in his house but I tried to keep it "lore accurate" to his character anyway.

I believe he's keeping it locked for now, but I still wanted to show off all my hard work! I built it on my alt to get the sizing correct, although the tall ceilings are "friendly" to tall races, they won't fit through doors, under the patio archway, in the bath, and they can't sit or doze in the bed.

Bonus of my alt testing it out, you can see the full extent of the "bath" here, which I'm proud of squeezing in.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

I was working on a comic where Wyolfe explains this in-character but honestly it just wasn't working so instead we're going to rely on the classic 'text post with images scattered throughout' to explain Important Mechanics of The Universe. Ready? Set? GO!?

(some details might change with time, but the broad strokes will likely remain the same.)

❤️ About Dark Worlds?

There are seven Dark Worlds (or however many end up being in the full version of Deltarune), each with their own Dark Fountain. Each Dark World correlates to a Light World location within FRISK's Home Town, just like it does with KRIS's in Deltarune, except for [CASTLE TOWN.]

There is one [CENTRAL FOUNTAIN] and six [LESSER FOUNTAINS]. These fountains all stem from the same 'pool', connecting each Lesser Fountain's Dark World directly to the Central Fountain's Dark World (Castle Town), but NOT each other's.

The gates which connect these Dark Worlds to Castle Town have been closed for a long time, allowing no one in or out. Once a Fountain is [CORRUPTED], the gate mysteriously opens, and WYOLFE will keep it open after FRISK [PURIFIES] that Dark World's Fountain.

❤️ About Corrupted Dark Fountains?

Mechanically, a Dark Fountain being [CORRUPTED] has the same effect as one being opened in Deltarune- The Dark World's Light World equivalent is covered in [DARKNESS], and the balance between dark and light is thrown off.

For each [LESSER FOUNTAIN] that is corrupted, the [CENTRAL FOUNTAIN] is corrupted a little as well. If it were to be fully corrupted, it would bring about the [ROARING].

Instead of 'sealing' the fountain, FRISK can [PURIFY] a Corrupted Fountain with their [SOUL POWER.] This is mechanically the same as sealing it, just that the Dark World continues to exist at its location instead of FRISK needing to bring all of the Light World Equivalent Items into Castle Town.

❤️ How Does Frisk Enter The Dark World(s)?

As previously stated, [CASTLE TOWN]'s Dark World does not have a Light World Equivalent. However, the entrance to it is (now) under FRISK's bed. So FRISK enters Castle Town when they go to bed at night, and from there uses the gates to go into the other Dark Worlds.

This all happening during the night is also how no one else ends up stumbling into the Dark Worlds with entrances at locations outside of FRISK's bedroom; no one's going to these locations in the middle of the night.

❤️ What About The Knight?

[THE KNIGHT] is the one corrupting the Fountains. There's not enough known about The Knight in base Deltarune for me to definitively conclude on anything more than that. Since corrupting the fountains is mechanically the same as opening one, and that's the one thing we know The Knight does, that's what it does here.
