Red Berries (poem)
Reminders that summer is passing
Evenings are getting darker
Days, although they don’t feel it, are getting shorter
Berries of all colours Nature’s reminders
Everything comes to an end
Reminders that summer is passing
Reminders that seasons must change
Indian summer anyone? I’ll live in hope
Ever hopeful for just a little more of summer’s warmth
Seasons come and seasons go…

The Measly Jar of Motivation - Seasons Move On (poem)
When she opened her eyes,
The seasons had moved on…
Time hadn’t stood still.
The heat was gone from the sun.
There was a chill in the air.
It was time to move on.
Time to seek freedom.
The world still weighted heavily on her.
As she walked the load lightened.
She began to breathe again,
Taking deeper and deeper breaths.
Feeling the sun on her back,
She savoured the taste of…

Ten Years Ago Today The Creative Journey Began...
Ten years ago this week, I stopped at the local mall on my way back from work and bought a new A4 notebook and some pens.
Ten years ago today, I sat down on my front doorstep in the early evening sunshine with that notebook and one of the pens and began to write.
It would be weeks…months…before I told anybody what I was attempting to do.
At that time in my life, I knew I had to do something…

Throwback Thursday.....Stronger Within
Throwback Thursday…..
His inbox was crammed full of unread mails – most of which were advertising junk. Before this infuriated him further, he tweaked his junk mail filters, then returned to his inbox. There was one email from Maddy that caught his attention. The subject heading was “Silver Lake album and merchandising artwork.” He opened the message, scanning the details about a band meeting…

Auroville - yes, it is real!
Auroville – yes, it is real!
When I switched on my laptop the other day, the Bing photo caught my eye and piqued my curiosity.
What was this incredible looking round gold building? Where was it? Was it real?
The photo was an aerial view similar to the one below
I quickly discovered that it was real. The photo was of an experimental town in India called Auroville and that glorious golden spherical building was The…

Toadstools - an acrostic poem
Toadstools – an acrostic poem
Treading carefully among the trees, I search
October brings fairytales alive – if you take the time to look
Autumn leaves nestle round them, keeping them safe
Delicate gills on display
Spores drifting invisibly down to populate the soil
Tomorrow’s tales or next year’s? Time will tell.
Old haunts from previous years reveal this year’s crop
Old memories haunt the hunt
Lost in my…

Holding Hands
It happens so seldom
Despite my inner need and desire
A simple connection discarded along the way.
Then out of the blue you reached out
Walking down a quiet Paris street
Eiffel Tower in our sights.
You slipped your hand into mine
Your skin cool to the touch
That simple gesture touching my heart.

Silently Watching Beneath the Pink Full Moon
Once the court chamber was empty and Anna had been returned to her secure cell, Jefferson suggested that The Thirteen take a short break before returning to the chamber to discuss the decision. When they reconvened an hour later, the curved table had been rearranged to form a circular table that was more conducive to a group discussion.
“We’ve heard all the testimonies. We’ve listened to the…

Silently Watching Before the Pink Moon
Living quarters within the sealed court lacked the luxury of the rest of the castle but with some persuasion, Stefan had managed to make his private study homely. A log fire crackled in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls of the dimly lit room. It had been a long day in the chamber with several witnesses called forward. Checking over the timeline and list of names, he knew that Jem…

Continue the Story .... the party guest ( flash fiction)
She knew she had to leave. Quickly. She should never have come. She should have politely declined the invitation. She didn’t belong here. This all felt so wrong.
Scanning the room, she searched for an escape route. One door led to the kitchen and judging from the laughter coming from there, it was full of guests. The only other door was the one to the hallway. If she could get to the hallway,…

Meet The Writer 2024 parts 11-15
#meetthewriter Day 11/15- ODE
An interesting thought…..
Writing, oh how you wring out my emotions!
You inspire me to create.
You torture me when words refuse to flow
You fill me with joy and allow me to breathe
Writing, you are pure oxygen to me.
#meetthewriter Day 12/15 – IDENTITY
Oh good question! There is an element of imposter syndrome lurking about with regards to this one. Right…

Sunflowers, Shadows, Grief and Living...
Up until now I’ve resisted the temptation to blog about grief.
To be honest, its not a word I like.
Perhaps its me who is weird here (wouldn’t be the first time) but when we lose someone that we love I feel that their life should be celebrated not mourned. When the Big Green Gummi Bear passed away last October, he left very few instructions regarding his funeral wishes. I feel we celebrated his…

The Measly Jar of Motivation - the feeling of anticipation
I sat down to write this week’s blog savouring the feeling of anticipation of a creative spurt.
I hoped to seek joy in the words I would write.
I sat, pencil in hand, staring at the blank page.
I sat poised to write.
I waited……
And I waited……
And I’m still sitting with the feeling of anticipation as I wait for the words to begin to flow….
