Lord Huron New Album Speculation

Lord Huron Spoilers for the new Album, scroll outta here if you don't want to know the name or song teasers for the new Album coming in July.

Hi, Lord Huron Lore Fandom, I never officially joined you because my first ever Lord Huron concert was Spoiled by a Jagoff from the "World Ender's Fanclub" on Facebook and I have always found the people in that group INSUFFERABLE, therefore it has been really difficult to get my hands on Lore for the Stories and Canon of Lord Huron. However.

Media Literacy is my Passion and Lord Huron is my hyperfixation Band, so I have thoughts about Cosmic Selector and you're going to get them whether you like it or not. Please feel free to engage, I'd love to know if I'm onto something or if Literally Everyone Knew That Except Me because I don't have access to the OFFICIAL CONFIRMED CANON LORE.

I know that the different albums have different universes? Sort of? I know they each have their own Main Character. I don't know their stories very well. I'm going to try not to talk out of my ass and just Be Vague about what I think I might remember the Lore to be. I'm just going to refer to each album's story by the album name.

I'm going to start by just saying I realized while listening to "Looking Back" that this song is Frozen Pines II. This song uses the same chords and a lot of the same language, such as "live outside the lines." In the first song, the singer says "I don't want to be the only one living when all of my friends are gone." In the second, the line becomes "All I want is a noisy, crowded place where I can drink," after the singer talks about how they used to have friends.

"Looking Back" is further down the timeline of Frozen Pines, or, and I could also accept this interpretation, it is an alternate timeline of Frozen Pines. "Who Laughs Last" is Ancient Names III, it uses the same chords as Part 1 (under Kristen Stewart's pieces) and Part 2 (under Ben's singing.) I'm not entirely clear on how the Lore has unfolded, but as I understand it, originally we understood Ancient Names 1 and 2 to be about The Singer needing to get Away from a Woman because a Psychic told him she was going to kill him. In "Who Laughs Last," she gets him (or has already gotten him.) I saw fun speculation about "Ancient Names II" being the song on the radio while KS is experiencing "Who Laughs Last." "Nothing That I Need" sounds like the successor to another song, but I haven't pinpointed it yet - outside of the lyrics making reference to "MOONBEAM" by describing Her (Lady Moonbeam, right?) hair and "seeing her" everywhere. Those are Her Traits. Frozen Pines, I know in our real world, is about Ben's loss of his sister (At least, I've heard this is the Lore of the song, I don't know further than that. I could be wrong) but in the album, as in MOST songs in the album, is about the transition across "the strange trails," or the veil of death. "Strange Trails" deals with the barrier of Death, crossing it, refusing to cross it, dancing on it, etc.

After that we get "Vide Noir," where the character seems to tell the story of a Guy falling in love with a woman who leaves him and then he starts getting Black Brained to fucking DEATH while nearly overdosing on Vide Noir to explore the cosmos to?? try to forget her? try to find her? The point is, as is emphasized on the first line of the album, the theme is "Time AND Space." Mostly that second one. "Vide Noir" deals with the barrier of Space, the Distance between people. Physical distance becoming Time Distance, Space being wanted, not wanted, loved, hated, etc.

Then "Long Lost," which is about not A Character but a music studio and the Bands and Artists who played with this studio, Whispering Pines. Tubbs Tarbell is here now, and a lot of characters enter the lore, but the main POINT is that a lot of TIME has passed and the singer laments TIME and the passage of TIME and wasting TIME and the void of TIME and things that happened in the past (Twenty Long Years AGO, Love Me Like You USED to, Where DID The Time Go) as well as the future (Mine FOREVER, the one you wanna love FOREVER, let me go free FOREVER.) "Long Lost" deals with the barrier of time. I believe "Nothing I Need" also has a greater connection to Long Lost because of this specific theme, and because of the Aesthetic of the Song being road/country instead of Rockabilly or ??? Synth Bops??? Theramincore?? Whatever Vide Noir Is.

And.

Let us not forget the songs that didn't make it onto "Long Lost," which are the Same Song but Two Songs, "Your Other Life" / "Ton Autre Vie." The boys held this song back because they felt it wasn't ready yet for Long Lost, it needed more time to cook. "Your Other Life" is about alternate lives in alternate universes. "Your OTHER Life," "I'll leave you in your other life," "you're living in your other life." Watching both music videos really sends this theory home for me if it's not actually confirmed anywhere else, I know there's greater lore that ties "Your Other Life" into the wider narrative via specific characters.

But anyway, that means that "Your Other Life" belongs neither to "Long Lost" OR to the "Cosmic Selector." It's not a song about the obstacle of TIME, like the rest of "Long Lost," it's about OTHER Lives, OTHER universes.

These three albums have three different Canons, they tell three different Stories (And "Lonesome Dreams" is, like, based on the book series by George Ranger Johnson, which is another level to that album's story. I THINK "Strange Trails" is technically a GRJ Story but I'm not 100% on that one.) The Point Is that the three songs that have been teased so far have connections to THREE different Albums. Different Albums with different "Singers" and different stories. On top of this, the Cosmic Selector is quite literally Present in Long Lost, it's the Jukebox featured throughout the? Story? Setting? Whatever, it was part of their MATERIALS for Long Lost. The Cosmic Selector has songs from all these other artists and bands, whose interactions across the realm of TIME don't quite make sense.

That's because the Cosmic Selector doesn't just have songs from this Time and Space - it has Songs from BEYOND this Time and Space, beyond Death - Cosmic Selector features songs from across the Multiverses.

THE LORD HURON EXPANDED UNIVERSE Additionally, and this is just a bonus thought or an alternate idea - I think the "Cosmic Selector" could also be an answer to: "What if the singer from the X universe interpreted a song on the Y Album." What if the singer from Vide Noir experienced Strange Trails? What if "Looking Back" is about a guy who has BEEN in each of these different universes, and that's why he "wonders who he was" and that's why the thing he wants changes throughout the song? "Getting Stoned" is about doing Vide Noir, but the song IS Frozen Pines 2. Cosmic Selector says "What If the Lines between these stories got all blurred up!"

Cosmic memories; new record

With Lord Huron’s sixth appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheater fast approaching (May 28 & 29), fans are reminiscing on the World Enders website about past RR shows.

Who could forget that soggy concert two years ago when the rain never stopped …? Not World Ender TJ Held, who posted this amazing photo with the caption: “That time Ben levitated at Red Rocks …”

I’m pretty sure the levitation had nothing to do with all those puddles on the stage and the electric guitar in Benjamin’s hands, but I can’t be certain.

By the way, after dribbling out a handful of new tracks in recent weeks, the band announced Wednesday that its fifth studio album - “The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1” - will be released on July 18.

Lord Huron fans i am humbly asking for some advice. My instinct is to preorder the new vinyl but the volume 1 of it all has me hesitating like do you think it's possible that when another volume comes out they will release a complete version? I really don't want to buy the same album twice on vinyl because they are quite expensive. Volume 2 might just be released on a seperate vinyl though and in that case I don't want to miss out on these pretty colours aaa idk please help
