"ARRESTS MADE IN FAKE MONEY CASE," Hamilton Spectator. December 4, 1933. Page 7. --- Search By Police Discloses Purple Suit ---- Edward Seigel is Being Brought Here --- Constables Ivan Barr and Robert Warner, of the local detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, left for Windsor to-day to bring back Edward Seigel to this city to face a charge of passing about $120 in counterfeit United States bills. Seigel was arrested by provincial and R.C.M.P. officers after Samuel Soskin had been taken into custody by the officers on a liquor charge. Information gained by the police after Soskin's arrest led the police- men to go to Seigel's quarters, where a search disclosed 50 gallons of alcohol and a purple suit similar to the one worn by one of the pair who passed counterfeit money in this city.
After questioning Seigel at some length, R.C.M.P. officers stated that the prisoner confessed that he had been one of the men who passed the bogus bills in this city and named Soskin as the other member of the duo.
Soskin has been sought by the provincial police for some time to answer to liquor charges in Chatham and London, as he is alleged to have participated in alcohol running at both places. Provincial Constable H. Langton took Soskin to London this morning to be tried and later he will come to Hamilton to be tried for passing the big bogus money.

Middle school memeory.
My school once had an event at the end of the year where kids made a city out of boxes with businesses and an economy based on Home Depot paint tiles. Supposed to be a fun lesson/activity with taxation, sale licenses, and roads.
There was SO MUCH CRIME.
- Tax Evasion: There was a tax collector system to give back currency to kids who didn’t have much… people just started hiding out in friends houses and businesses when the tax collectors came.
- Sale of Illigal Goods: There was a GODS DAMN BLACK MARKET. Selling unapproved items such as trading cards, candy, AND LIVE GOLDFISH. *I just sold juice without a license*
- Organized Crime: Not surprising, criminals grouped together for safety. I think some peoples houses got destroyed.
- Counterfeiting: A group of students brought paint tiles of their own. They counterfeited money… for a cardboard city.
Kids are so just willing to do crime, wish I had the guts. Sadly I am be gay, no crime but video piracy.

The USTR’s latest Special 301 Report names eight countries on the Priority Watch List—including China, India, and Russia—and 18 on the regular Watch List. These rankings may influence ongoing trade negotiations, especially those related to tariffs.

Page 14. ---- Soskin and Seigel Sentenced To-day ---- Windsor, Ont., Jan. 8. - (CP) - Sam Soskin and Edward Seigel, of Windsor, were sentenced to two years in Portsmouth penitentiary here today by Magistrate D. M. Brodie when they pleaded guilty of passing counterfeit United States $10 federal reserve notes in Hamilton.
In addition they were given brief concurrent sentences on a variety of other lesser charges, laid at London and here.
[Soskin was 29 married, from Ottawa, and considered himself a salesman. Segal was 37, from Russia, a junk-dealer, and wrote and read little English. Both men were Jewish. Segal was convict #3319 and worked in the quarry until he was pardoned May 1935 and released. Soskin was convict #3320 and worked in the kitchen then stores. He was transferred November 1934 to the low-security Collin's Bay Penitentiary, and then paroled May 1935.]
