[image ID: a screenshot of an ask that reads “do you think eliot can knit? i want him to knit things, it'd be fun to see for sure :)”]
(Tumblr ate the asks you sent me so I’m working from a screenshot I apologise @themagnificentmx)
Building on from hatverse (not to be confused with bathverse) we know that Hardison can knit and is very open about it.
Eliot I’m gonna project onto and say prefers crochet as it’s easier on the hands (imo)
He originally started as a progression from sewing (his needlework on skin and fabric is pristine and a work of art either way) when she decided to get better at fixing clothes. He found it a good way to gently keep up with fine motor skills that his chronic hand pain dulls.
(I’m gonna go back to sewing although I know the ask was about knitting I apologise.)
Eliot becomes excellent at embroidery and starts adding initials to clothing for his people. Hardison even manages to convince him to hand embroider custom leverage international sweatshirts for him and Parker.
However due to his pain he sometimes can’t do any of it. Those are the worst times, when his brain gets loud and distracted and he can’t focus his energy into the detailed task of creation. It can spiral into dark thoughts of how his hands are becoming the product of years of violence. However, that’s when he focuses on the callouses from his crafts, the ones that slip between those from guns and knives and nestle there as a reminder that his own pain has become less about hurting others and more about protecting and helping.
(Then he goes and has a bath and we’re back to bathverse again)
We needed something super low-key to watch tonight, so we decided to throw on one of Mary Kate's old Craftversations episodes...and then I accidentally clicked on the auto-captions transcript.
i've taken characters from every major shipwrecked production, and pitted them against each other! as we've all learned from poe party, don't do murder. therefore whoever loses will be, in mary kate's words, "politely pushed aside". (from craftversations)
to qualify for this, each character had to be named, have a line, and appear in multiple episodes, with the exception of gilded lily characters (altho they're coming back for the greater gadsby!!!) and those from shorts and stuff like that. others were cut because i could only use 32 characters, so im sorry if i cut ur favorite, i promise it had nothing to do with the actual character
if there's a one tie, then i will redo that match. if theres more than one, the pairs of the tied groups will be randomly mixed up and redone.
there will be 32 characters from headless, poe party, gilded lily, little vvomen, and a book by its cover.
the more each poll gets reblogged, the better results we can get. you don't have to, but it'll help with the polls. lmk if u have any questions
you guys, that garlic and onion allergy is something that MK said in craftversations with Brian. they were talking about guacamole and MK was like: well, Lauren’s allergic. that was such a random comment tho
We’re just saying none of us could remember LAUREN saying it which is correct 😂
I loved this entire series so much, but my favorite has to be volume 28 with Ryan Garcia, for so many reasons: villain analysis, rocking out to the Virgin America commercial, the continuation of the gameshow introduced by Joe Stribling in the previous episode, getting to participate in said gameshow and beat Sean by 4 points just for introducing Ryan to the concept of shipping, the craft just absolutely failing in the most entertaining way possible, and so much more. It’s everything I love about craftversations with an added layer of chaos and it just makes me so happy.
Wishing the happiest of happy birthdays to this lovely, witchy lady, @sineadpersaud ! Your talent is a force to be reckoned with, your humor is admirable and enviable, and your aesthetic is one I could only wish I had. We share a love of Little Shop and spooky things, as well as musical theatre and the nerdy stuff. Happy birthday, Sinead, keep doing amazing things 💛
Day 27 of ‘did you know this Starkid related thing exists?’
Craftversations is one of my favourite ever things I’ve stumbled across. It’s Mary Kate Wiles, plus all your faves (Starkid, Shipwrecked and LBD) just crafting and talking. It’s very chilled and heartwarming (and you can join in with all the crafts which is very fun). I just love it. My favourite episodes are Corey and Joe W, and I really need to rewatch them all.
Hi, MK! I was just rewatching your craftversations episode with Sean, and I was wondering if you still have the corkboard states you made? I'm a big fan of both of you and of crafts!
craftversations is the perfect thing to listen to while i’m revising and i am so grateful to mary kate because this could be the reason i pass my exams
