It's pride month, which means you're legally obligated to read my queer trans graphic novel about a boy who gains the ability to manifest his dreams in real life, including the high school crush who got away, STRANGE BEDFELLOWS!
Bedfellows has been praised for its art, humour, portrayal of mental illness, and of casual queerness in a semi-utopic socialist future. I am told it has made at least 10 people cry.
see where to buy it here: www.arielries.com/books/
#this book technically did make me cry#but I feel like...not for the reasons the artist intended#good graphic novel tho#even though I hate it when people open with a dream sequence#especially in speculative fiction#like I'm here to find out what your universe is like#my mind is open like the mouth of a greedy shark#and the FIRST thing you're going to do is fake me out?#feels like a betrayal of trust#....anyway what was I saying?#“nothing darling you were just quoting keats”

Just heard Hugh Fraser earnestly deliver the lines "Who is Sylvia? What is she?" in an audiobook as if the character was actually asking. Get it together, man.

there is a level of seduction that exists beyond the body. something less tangible, and perhaps more potent. anais nin understood this idea about how desire does not begin with touch but with language, perception, and the sharp electric pull of a mind that challenges and excites you. in her journals, desire is not just a physical hunger but a hunger of the intellect, an unraveling of thought before an unraveling of the body. to be drawn into someone’s mind, to feel their thoughts press against your own, can be more intoxicating than any physical closeness.
—Caitlyn Richardson, 'can intellectual intimacy replace physical desire?', in milk fed

Sometimes you want to be doing two activities, and you have to either choose one or decide if you can do them both at once. Like you can wash dishes while listening to music very easily, but you can't simultaneously paint and knit. If I want to read and listen to music, there are times when that is perfectly compatible -- but today I am annoyed because, realistically, Georgette Heyer and Baby Lasagna are just not going to mix.
#You try keeping the 12 characters with four surnames you've met in the span of six pages all straight in your mind#when it keeps singing “let's throw a party baby (whoa whoa) just you and me and my demons baby”#georgette heyer#baby lasagna#life is full of these trials#this post is for...lemme guess...six people?#let's see how many of them are on Tumblr

Confession: I've still never heard the meme song about a lot of fireflies, and every time I saw someone do that meme my brain tried to put it into this melody. For a long time I didn't understand why they never scanned.

Finding out that people headcanon Zoe as autistic and that Wendy Padbury is among those people is the wholesome news I needed today.
Please enjoy celebrating autistic Zoe Heriot during Pride Month with my very gay song about her:
one of my favourite things that happened today at valiant con was getting to talk to wendy padbury about autistic zoe!! So I asked a question in the panel about if you were playing your character now in the modern era as opposed to back in the 60s is there anything you would change about your portrayal or highlight more, which was basically the best way I could think of phrasing it without outright being like “do you think zoe was autistic” cos that would’ve possibly been too much and also her initial comment a few weeks ago could’ve just been a random one off thing so I didn’t want to make it awkward. But then she immediately starts talking about how she realised that zoe has a lot of neurodivergent traits and that she reminds her of autistic people that she knows. I did get to tell her afterward as well that I relate to zoe as an autistic person which was cool

It is so hard to believe this audio is real because some of those terms are whimsical as hell, but I want to believe.
in absolute tears about the pride module at my work
#Better not refer to the fact that someone has had a roommate for a long time or you'll lose your job#The fact that they check in with you after half the list to see if you're ok before they go on#wild#pride month

The answer is on ElectricNow! It's a streaming service mainly comprised of content created by Electric Entertainment, the production company behind the show. They have the first episode up for "a limited time," and I'm crossing my fingers they'll have the rest of the season in the same way (the day after they air on TNT, and for a short time). They haven't said how limited the time is, so watch it soon!
I was trying to reserve all excitement until I saw the show with my own eyes (I've been burned by too many bad reboots), and the first episode was really fun! They already did one of my favorite things that shows dealing with the supernatural rarely handle well, so I'm on board!
Reminder: If you at all can watch the episodes as they air on TNT, it makes a big difference in how the network perceives the show's success. Please do it if you can!
Someone have compassion on my executive dysfunction and poor mental health and give me the skinny on the Librarians premiere tomorrow (and the next day). What is the easiest/cheapest way to watch it? I want to be supportive but also I am broke.
#the librarians the next chapter#shipwrecked comedy#the persauds#electric entertainment#the librarians#the thing is “not just take for granted that Christian icons work against monsters without questioning why”#I'm lookin at you Buffy

Someone who has never helped raise a child can never understand the absolute heartbreak of having to teach my niece that ukulele is not, in fact, pronounced "wook-wookie."
ok so being a parent IS really hard but not the way you think. well its probably hard the way you think but its ALSO really hard because my toddler pronounces peanut butter like "peepee yaya". and see, because he learns from me, i can't say "peepee yaya", no matter how much i want to, because i have to teach him that it is actually pronounced "peanut butter". and dont even get me started on how he pronounces "shaun the sheep" (shit the shit)

"I can say from experience that it's easy to become a perfect snail."
—Jules Verne
My new hobby is quoting famous people completely out of context, especially if it's taking the words of a character in a book and stating them as if the author personally said them.
