NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET
flickr
NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET by Otto Rapp Via Flickr: Created in NIGHTCAFE - Stable Diffusion SDXL 1.0 - New Feature: trained Model for Drawing. Here I trained AI with over 60 images of my drawings, the result of this training is combined with my textprompt. the prompt included H.R. GIGER, BOSCH and BOGOMIL'S UNIVERSE EVOLVED from a botched previous evolve. This time, burned it with 60% prompt and 70% noise! The evolve trail goes back to a actual drawing of mine as a seed image, but I relegated the previous one to the archives. It was basically a repeat of what went before. Lesson learned. If you want variations, then go above 50% with the noise level. PROMPT: "IT LIVES IN THE WOODS" drawing by Otto Rapp at the Cryptid Taxidermy Museum, in post apocalyptic wonderland, in heaven everything is fine by lady in the radiator and brothers quay, stopmotion cinema photograph by H.R. Giger, by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch, Art Nouveau, intricately detailed, hyperrealism, fantasy, imperial colors; Bogomils Universe

Another Halloween pic of me. Posing in a store that sells bones and taxidermy.
When I originally thought of this costume it was meant to be a demon. But it now has Fae vibes, which I think I prefer.

The taxidermy of a buck's head, mounted on the wall in an antique shop, was missing. There are no signs of a break-in other than small residue of bright-red slime on the Victorian-era sofa. An overnight janitor caught a glimpse of a red monster with tendrils resembling a deer the next night.
A Tassadermaling, the red taxidermy Borderling, conforming into a vaguely-shaped deer from memory.

The Macas Mammal is the name of an unidentified taxidermied animal that had been discovered in a small shop in Macas, Ecuador. It had been discovered by a Spanish Cryptozoologist Angel Morant Forés. He attempted to purchase the animal several times, but the shop’s owner refused to sell it. Ecuadorian biologist Didier Sanchez successfully purchased the specimen in 1999 but nothing was announced about an identification.
Forés described the creature as being 35 to 40 centimeters long. It had a proboscis-like snout and webbed feet. Though it had been proposed to be a water opossum, it has no pouch which cancels out that theory. Forés learned from locals that the creatures are common in local rivers. He sent photos to five separate scientists. One believed it to be a water opossum, but four others believed it may be a species unknown to science.

Fearsome critters are joke animals that were made up by lumberjacks in the United States.
I have been researching fearsome critters for some time and as far as I am aware, the best place for this is the Lumberwoods website, which hosts many old books on them.
When I read about a critter, I look it up to see if there is anything else I can find, but many named critters do not have anything outside of these books.
So, I was reading Lenwood’s Lexicon of Lumberwoods Lore, where I came upon "Swamp Boogers." Which is said to be the taxidermy of deer buttocks being turned into a face.
What's weird is that it does not seem to be alive in any way, as you would expect from a fearsome critter. It is just taxidermy.
And it is a real thing that has been done to animals and you can read about it on Know Your Meme.
But when talking about the origin of swamp boogers, Know Your Meme says, "The term "Swamp Booger" has likely been used prior to its appearance online," and it lists a song from 2004 that uses the term.
But the book I read is from 1951.
I found some information and put it together to give us more context to something almost no one cares about.
You're welcome!

On Saturday I moved the last 2 of my 5 gallon buckets of this year's cat remains into new, clean 2.5 gallon buckets, with fresh new water. Pictured here is a good ol' boy named Mysterio.
Having been in their respective maceration cultures since July, each is now decomposed enough that they can be moved to the basement (to protect them from freezing) with no noticeable odor, besides something of a sweet-dirt scent.
The next step is "wax scraping" each individual bone, to poke off any build-up of adipocere, or "grave wax", the natural byproduct of this method of skeleton cleaning.
