#Curvy Barbie

I got these boots off AliExpress, I have no idea what they are from but they fit Barbies tall & curvy feet like a DREAM!

I must know what brand they’re from! Can anyone Identify them? I thought they were project mc2 doll shoes but they seem too short.

I considered this swap a while ago, but put it off because I was hoping to find an articulated curvy Barbie who'd be a match for Isabela (she and the curvies can share clothes). As I do have a second Isabela in box, though, I decided to go ahead and take the plunge.

Daria & Isabella are in a very close brown skintone range, but Daria has more olive undertones, and Isabela rosy ones.

They have different style neckpegs, and I'd heard the Jakks were particularly difficult to remove, but ironically it was Daria's that I snapped all the way out of the neck.

That circular bit holds onto a bar inside the body. Attempting to reinsert it, I could get one half wrapped around the bar, but the other half would just bend back upwards. Ultimately I was able to get it in by cutting off a fraction of one end; I was worried too much would prevent it from attaching it all, but thankfully it worked.

In person, the contrast between Daria's face and new body isn't too bad; her make-up and hair both give her a rosy tone, despite the underlying plastic being more olive. Isabela is starker, particularly if her hand is right up against her face.

Fortunately, the contrast is barely noticeable once they're dressed.

Isabela isn't reading to my brain as herself, anymore though, with such a different silhouette. Instead she is another Disney heroine; Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, who I've adored since I was itsy bitsy.

So now the Hybrid Amaya has a friend her size...

And Lila has another Princess to help her defeat the Heartless!

I think I should make her a new crochet top soon, especially now that I kind of know what I’m doing + can sew velcro on with a sewing machine instead of failing to do it by hand ✨

Okay so I made a dress for my curvy Barbie. First time I’ve ever made Barbie clothes. I hand sewed because I used to sew back in 7th grade (years ago), but I wanted a refresher before getting back on the machine.

I love her.

Welcome back to Toy Tuesday where I talk about Toys I like, Toys I collect, and Toy Projects of mine! Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the 90′s Holiday Barbies! Pictured above are 1992-1998. My mother decided to start collecting them for me. However since I was born in December of 1991 I didn’t have the 1990 or 1991 doll. Though the 1991 does look familiar so ...I Might have had it too. Obviously I no longer have them if you couldn’t tell. A kid’s gonna kid and eventually my mom let my sister and I open them up and play with them. I have adult regret, but I also know that...that’s just what kids do so I don’t linger on it.

These dolls are stunning! The new Holiday Barbies are really lame in comparison which is really sad. I just don’t know why Mattel can’t get it together with Barbie. What happened to the Glam? Maybe the new barbie movie will help that? My favorite was the brunette barbie with the bow dress, mostly because at the time it was the only holiday barbie with Brunette hair like me! All the others were blond like my sister since you know...they were BARBIE!

I have a little project  where I want to put myself in a bunch of doll/toy lines through customization!

I’ve had a MTM curvy Barbie body for awhile for that purpose. Originally I was just gonna make me, whatever, but then I started to think about putting myself into a specific Barbie Doll line and the Holiday Barbies were Barbies I owned and loved very very much! Perfect!

Now as far as theme goes I have a few ideas. -Christmas Tree (There is a lack of bright green in the 90′s Holiday Doll set!) -Reindeer (A way to add a new color to the set, Brown!) -Gingerbread (I think this one might not come off as glamrous enough. I’m so on the fence about it that I didn’t make a concept art for it. XP

Christmas Tree:

Yeah these concepts are really rough and don’t look like the finished doll would look! But you get the idea right? The Christmas Tree doll would be lots of layered, gathered tulle with some baubles and such added to it! Reindeer:

The Reindeer one is fun because I wanted to play around with the idea of a Harness in the form of a big cage skirt! I know I should have planned this out BEFORE Christmas so I had access to more of the materials. Those things are a smidgen harder to find post Christmas especially the miniature ornaments and stuff for the Christmas Tree concept, but I can manage! Anyway that’s what I got do far. What are your thoughts?

Comparison: Curvy Barbie & Ken in swapped outfits.

Ken's long tank-top fits Curvy Barbie fine, while his shorts go over her hips but won't close in the back.

Curvy Barbie's yoga pants fit Ken but only go just past his knees, while her shirt goes over his arms and chest but won't close in the back.

I'm glad curvy barbies in the barbie movie got to wear fashionable, flattering clothes since lord knows the curvy barbie dolls don't get the same luxury 🥲

How hard is it to make them something that isn't a shapeless t-shirt dress, Mattel?
