i started thinking about cynthia's green contacts in the wicked trailer and their raison d'etre and realized something.

elphaba's eyes in the book -> "They were brown and rich, the color of overturned earth, flecked with mica."

so cynthia's dark brown eyes would've been perfect.

(funnily enough, i draw elphaba with green eyes because my first bootleg was willemijn and the light effect made her eyes look green. so my headcanon became true i guess? 😂)

but this is not the interesting part- i think fiyero didn't have green eyes either (rest of the post under spoiler because it's about son of a witch)

so, the narrative makes a big deal of liir nor having green skin, but he has green eyes!!! and it is glossed over, but pointed out twice in soaw. we wait until the very end for him to have a solid "proof" he's her son, for him to believe it.

but this hint was subtly there, he did inherit her greenness after all.

it didn't click while reading but this is how i'm interpreting it now. i think it's beautiful

Generic Characters

In addition to persistent characters, there are a number of generic encounter-able characters. For most of these, it is heavily implied that the player does not repeatedly encounter the same generic character over and over, and thus, the game does not store a full stat block for these characters without due cause.

There are a few limited exceptions to the rule of these always being a different individual: one example is V-KO. She is both a static character and a repeatable encounter on Mhen'ga; but as a factory-produced machine that is styled to act as a ubiquitous medical dispenser, more V-KO bots are liable to find their way to other planets while using the same 'encounter template' as the one on Mhen'ga. Indeed, there are plans to eventually enable the player to add a version to their ship.

Explanation

Shields

First layer of health a ship has. Can be regenerated in combat with certain ship gadgets and will fully regenerate after leaving combat.

Shield Def

Reduces the damage taken to the ship's shield health per an attack. Making it more effective against double shot and full auto Ship weapons.

Armor

The second and final layer of health a ship has. Can be regenerated in combat with certain ship gadgets, or slowly outside of combat by a dockmaster NPC such as Vahn or Shekka if she is a crew member. Requires a ship to be in port for repairs.

Armor Def

Reduces the damage taken to the ship's armor health per an attack. Making it more effective against double shot and full auto Ship weapons.

Ship Energy Store

The maximum amount of energy a ship can store at any one time. Ship energy is used to fire weapons and use certain ship gadgets. You will always begin combat with full ship energy.

Ship Energy Generation

The amount of energy a ship will generate each combat turn. Using the Recharge! ability will double the ship's energy generation for that round, but prevent the use of other equipment.

Agility

The primary stat used to calculate ship evasion. Is twice as effective at increasing evasion.

Sensors

The primary stat used to calculate ship accuracy. Is twice as effective at increasing accuracy.

Systems

Secondary stat used to calculate ship accuracy. Is additionally used offensively and defensively for 'system checks' in combat.

Thrust

Secondary stat used to calculate ship evasion. Is additionally used in combat to determine escape chance when using Escape!.

Accuracy

Determines the chance to hit with the ship's weapons when using Battle! during combat.

Evasion

Determines the chance a ship has to completely avoid damage from an attack. Can be boosted during a combat round when using Evade! at the cost of preventing ship equipment use for that combat round.

Module/Crew Capacity

The amount of space a ship has to install ship equipment. Empty modules can instead be used to increase crew capacity.

Weapon Capacity

The number of hardpoints a ship has to install ship weapons. Unless otherwise noted, ship weapons also require a module.

Fixed Equipment

Ship weapons, upgrades and gadgets that can not be removed and do not count against the ship equipment limit.

Storage space

Determines total space per item type (Wardrobe, Equipment, Consumables, Valuables, and Toys) in Storage that a ship can hold.

Headcanons for Michael? Little stabby stalking boy? Please and thank you <3 i really like your take on these characters

since we stan Laurie Strode in this house all of these headcanons will be making fun of that bastard Mitch.

we say that Miguel’s spookiness comes from a mixture of natural serial killer and supernatural being, and we’ll give headcanons that hint to both sides (because Mickey’s nature is much more interesting when it’s unknown ;] ).

Mica Myers HCs

With Michael, it’s the same issue we met with writing Jason, that being Micheal doesn’t actually have any sort of personality besides staring at Laurie and being a bastard. (or having a weird boner, if you’ve read the novelization)

The only way we see anyone befriending him is if they meet him during his childhood. Becoming the boogeyman was a slow but steep decline into madness, and he was a somewhat normal child in the beginning.

As a child, he was quiet. He talked, even if he didn’t know it, when it profited him. He did not search for socialization, nor did he seek acceptance from his peers.

In the novel, it is mentioned that the weeks leading up to Michael murdering Judith, he had begun peeing his bed. (fucking nerd) Interestingly, the Macdonald triad is a set of three factors that were most commonly found in serial killers when they were children, one of which included pissing their pants along with arson and cruelty to animals (man eats dog meat. point proven). Two of the three factors must be present to lead to criminally violent behavior, and since we see Micheal murder and consume dogs, and have never seen him set something on fire on purpose, he 100% pissed his fucking bed. Since this triad (although outdated now) was suggested in the 1963, before the movie had come out and thus existed to be of interest/reference to either Carpenter himself or to the directors fleshing out Michael’s character, Michael most likely canonically pissed his bed like a little bitch. (source: dude who cares this is a headcanon about michael pissing his bed)

Back to his childhood, he most likely took out his frustrations on animals. It wasn’t that he had a particularly large amount of stress (the opposite, since part of Michael’s horror is that he came from a perfectly good childhood), it was that he simply didn’t know how to deal with it normally. With an already tainted mind from birth, he decided that murder was just the solution to all of his problems.

He didn’t collect the animals he killed. Occasionally, he’d take the bloody messes of feathers and fur and reposition them. In the beginning, it was to hide what he’d done, but as the years went on and he stayed under the radar he became far more creative. Michael would gingerly replace the carcasses where he found them. Then, that too grew boring and he settled on leaving the animals on sidewalks or on the streets, running back to the safety of his home and smiling as people walking looked down and gasped.

Michael might have also taken out some of this exaggerated aggression on his classmates. While he didn’t specifically go out of his way to harm them, he wasn’t afraid to encourage them to stay away. He was fond of twisting other’s arms and pinning them against their backs, then pulling up so sharply he nearly broke their arms. When questioned, he would smile charmingly, flutter his long eyelashes, and with a sweet voice he’d assure teachers he had no clue what they were talking about. While his classmates would survive the encounter, they never would forget how Michael wouldn’t react to their cries of pain, and how chillingly stoic he was during the whole ordeal. 

Judith thought it was odd how distant her little brother was from her, but she didn’t really care. It was less she had to hang around her childish sibling, and more time she had to herself. While Michael did nothing to befriend her, he did expect her to treat him with priority. When she didn’t, since she couldn’t read his mind, Judith would awaken to a dead mouse hanging from the doorknob to her room.

As expected, he was close to Cynthia from the moment she was born. He hovered around her crib until he was shooed out of his parent’s room to allow her rest, and scooted his chair closer to hers at the dinner table. Cynthia herself was indifferent to Michael’s presence, cooing and fussing just as a normal baby would. She would reach up curiously, and wrap her small hand around his finger, and he would freeze on the spot. The look in his eyes were chalked up to brotherly love, but after Judith’s murder, his parents weren’t so sure it was love they hope for.

It doesn’t really matter what specifically happened to Michael during his stay at Smith’s Grove, because it’s most likely that he didn’t do anything of interest. Of course, cruel and ignorant staff played a big part, but even without the neglect it was most likely Michael would grow to the murderous man he became either way.

Probably watched those shitty soap operas whose plot is 95% mindless filler. He watched them religiously once he discovered them by accident, every single night on the dot he’d stride into the common room, take his place on the ratty sofa, and watch. Oh, you were watching something else? Do you want to keep your head attached to your body?

He didn’t even have to threaten anyone. Michael got his way from intimidation.

Since Michael (presumably) wasn’t caught after his first and second movie chaos, it’s safe to assume his injuries were never properly cleaned. After his hype to kill Laurie died down, he promptly collapsed on the ground and passed out until the directors wanted to refurnish their kitchens and brought him back to the big screen for easy cash. Not only did he most likely did not have the slightest clue how to properly care for his wounds, he probably didn’t care. So Michael smells like ass because he doesn’t shower, and because he most likely had an infection.

In murder mode, physical ailments would never stop him. Outside of stalking, stabbing, or strangling, it was a different story. His chest, arms, and stomach burned. Michael’s head swarmed with a persistent fever. Since he spent most of his time in a dream, he doesn’t physically look fatigued. He refused to show weakness, but he couldn’t shake the stumble he occasionally carried. Not to mention he smells like a rotting carcass.

Will stab the wall in warning, glaring at you as eight inches of sharp steel punctured another hole. Goes out of his way to stab at really awkward angles, so it’s difficult for you to cover it up.

Last but not least, we leave you with a final line from the novel that we cherish so much, written from Michael’s POV while he stalks Annie:

Cynthia McFadden went to Madagascar and spent days talking to the families who, along with their small children, labor in the mines for mica.  This video is from her story on the Today Show this morning.  She spoke to a mother who, with her 4 small children, work in the mines 7 days a week, 13 hours a day to earn $3.00 each week.  The family shares a single CUP OF RICE each day.  That is their only meal each day.  Their lungs are filled with the dust from the mica mining, many dying quite young.  

Two nonprofits went with McFadden and were shocked to learn of this horrible exploitation of these people along with the exploitation of the environment.  The companies that use mica in there products around the world make billions of dollars each year.  The nonprofits told Mr. McFadden they will each be setting up a support group in the country to help these families and help make this situation become better known throughout the world.

Barbarians Season 2: Questions the German Netflix Series Needs to Answer

Warning: contains spoilers for Barbarians season one.

While historians may have other items on their wish list (including more a more accurate representation of 9 AD, judging by some responses), what most viewers want from a second season of Barbarians is escapist action. We want hefty sword fights, ferocious armies, blood-daubed faces screaming for revenge, shocking deaths, betrayals, and naked hook-ups in the dye shed.

All that is hopefully in the pipeline now that filming on season two is underway. As reported by Deadline, the second season of Germany’s most successful Netflix production went into production in and around the Polish city of Krakow at the beginning of September. It’s obviously too early for an official release date but the smart money would be on the six new 45-minute episodes arriving at some point in late 2022. There’s no word as yet on which historical events the new season will cover (the first was set during the run-up to The Battle of Teutoburg Forest, a decisive victory by the united Germanic tribes against their colonial Roman masters), but we’ve suggested a few possibilities here.

Appreciating that the history books provide answers to the fates of many of Barbarians’ characters, here are a few additional plot points left hanging by the first run that we’d like to see resolved.

What will Folkwin’s sacrifice to the gods mean for his and Thusnelda’s baby?

In Barbarians episode three ‘On the Edge’, Folkwin is being hunted down on Varus’ orders for his part in stealing the Roman legion’s eagle standard. Unable to find Folkwin, the Romans raid his village and crucify his entire family. Devastated, Folkwin prays to Woden and the gods for revenge upon the Romans. He asks that “Varus, and all who ride under his flag shall shed their blood on our soil,” and promises in exchange, “for this, I will sacrifice what’s most precious to me. My firstborn.” The gods kept their side of the bargain in the blood-soaked Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, after which Varus fell on his own sword after his legions were defeated by the Germanic tribes.

Folkwin’s childhood friend and former lover Thusnelda ended season one pregnant by him. Will the gods take their sacrifice in season two, thus dooming Folkwin and Thusnelda’s child? History tells us that the real Thusnelda did have a child, but as Folkwin’s character is a fictional part of this historically inspired series, perhaps this particular pregnancy won’t reflect the historical course of events.

How will the Folkwin/Arminius/Thusnelda love triangle be resolved?

Thusnelda and Arminius’ marriage may have started out as a political union designed to unite the tribes, but that’s not where it ended. Ari had gone into the arrangement aware that Thusnelda was in love with their childhood friend Folkwin, and prepared for the relationship to be just for show. But when the couple were told that Folkwin was dead, and were given his wolf tooth necklace as proof, they forged a bond and mourned their friend. Thusnelda fought at The Battle of Teutoburg Forest to avenge Folkwin’s death – an unnecessary vow as Folkwin had been alive all along. After the Germanic victory, Ari offered the newly returned Folkwin a lordship under his rule, but was rebuffed, and Folkwin vowed to kill Ari if he became the king of the Germanic tribes. Thusnelda told Folkwin that she intends to rule by Ari’s side. In season two, will Thusnelda stick with that decision? Husband and king, or childhood love?

Will Ansgar complete his gods-given task?

One of Barbarians’ more retrograde storylines in season one was Ansgar’s disability-makes-you-magical plot (not at all unlike Game of Thrones’ Bran Stark story). When Thusnelda’s little half-brother Ansgar attacked a Roman soldier to save his sister, he was struck on the head with a sword and suffered a serious brain injury. Thusnelda stopped her step-mother from euthanising him, and allowed Ansgar to be looked after by the tribe’s seer Runa, who called the boy a favourite of the gods, with special abilities. Runa said that Ansgar had been to the Kingdom of Death but returned to Earth because he had a task to complete in the land of the living. Ansgar was seen predicting The Battle of Teutoburg Forest through his paintings, so perhaps he has other predictions to make in season two? The child survived season one and was last seen being led away from the battle by Folkwin.

Will Hadgan’s betrayal be punished?

Chatti Reik Hadgan is one of Barbarians’ villains. Thusnelda’s father Segestes promised her in marriage to him but she refused and later married Ari. Hadgan tried to force himself on Thusnelda but she fought him off, then he removed his men from the Germanic army, choosing not to join Ari in the fight against Rome. It was only when he and his co-conspirator Segestes (a well-known historical figure) realised that the tide had turned in the Germanic fighters’ favour that they entered the battle. The pair were last seen in the season one finale plotting against Arminius. History tells us Segestes’ fate, but will season two see Hadgan punished for his actions?

When will we properly meet Arminius’ brother Flavus?

Ari wasn’t the only son of Reik Segimer taken as a child from his Cherusci home to be raised as a ‘noble hostage’ by Rome; his younger brother Flavus was also taken. Unlike his sibling, Flavus remained loyal to Rome and served under Roman leader Germanicus in The Battle of Idistaviso, which was fought against the Germanic tribes led by Arminius. Flavus only appeared in Barbarians season one as a child in flashback, but for a drama themed around cultural identity, the adult haracter would make a rich addition. Three of the new cast members for season two look as though they could potentially play the role – Austrian actor Murathan Muslu, Russian-born Daniel Donskoy and Italian Alessandro Fella. They’re all confirmed as joining the returning cast of Laurence Rupp, Jeanne Goursaud, David Schütter, who respectively play Ari, Thusnelda and Folkin, along with other newcomers Cynthia Micas, Katharina Heyer and Giovanni Carta, all in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
