I have so many tidbits on them and their biology and morphology and all that jazz (I made a whole new species just because) but it was a month full of exams and I CANT stop playing don't starve and cotl I feel like Im going crazy

Oh yeah, and those designs are just concepts and I already changed them a bit ekdkskd but I didn't wanna end the month with nothing, so mermaid AU letsgoo

A BIT ABOUT THEM:

Not really based on any particular species, there are some details here and there, some shark stuff cause I like em anddd some others fishes but as I said I changed them a bit and this is just concept art fase

Moon was gonna be a electric eel but I've seen enough people do that so I decided to just ignore most anatomy and do whatever FEELS like them, I hope I'm successful at least with their designs latter

The Celestial Moon Giant

A little late on Mermay so have yn petting/scritching sun as a compensation--

Mer Sun.

Wobbegong + Angel shark + Brown-banded bamboo shark + Horn shark. Barely 4 ft long.

Sun lives in the same kelp forest as Moon. Those two often hang out together, as they have never found any others of their kind. Sun is an ambush predator. He buries himself in the sand and snags anything that strays to close (well, anything that isn't too big). He likes to crawl onto the beaches of near by islands and play in the warm, dry sand. And when he's done, he buries himself in it and takes a nap. He and Moon also love to go exploring on the islands. Moon is definitely the faster out of the duo. Both on land and in the water. But, he usually waits for Sun to catch up so he isn't left behind.

Funny little tidbit, Sun refuses to believe clams aren't moving rocks, no matter how many times Moon tells him. Sun has never seen the inside of a clam before. Moon doesn't know how to break them open, so he can't really prove his point. Even if Moon tries to show Sun a clam's shell, Sun just says that clams are fossil rocks (they have found fossils inside rocks on the beaches of some of the islands that they explore) and that the shell is the fossil inside. The two get into this argument a lot.

Eclipse is is considered to be quite large by the standards of other eclipse merr.

Eclipse was killed by Moon and Solar. The two of them blew up his nest while he was resting from a fight with Sun. Since then, he has been spotted miraculously alive. Both The Creator and Dr. Newton deny their involvement in Eclipse's revival

He is in immense pain 24/7 due to both him suffering the effects of getting blown up as well as the Newton Star's affect on his body, slowly eating away at his body and replacing it with anti mater created whenever the Star's power is harnessed, which is all the time because Eclipse would die without it

Eclipse had his star fragment, the star shaped objects suspended in orbs that floats between the tail fins of the merr that acts as their main source of energy, destroyed when he was blown up and now relies on the Newton Star to survive.

Due to the Newton star taking a role similar to a star fragment, it has currently taken the appearance of one but it is able to take on many shapes depending on the will of its owner

Eclipse dislikes how brightly coloured he is as it makes him an easy target, the sparkles from whatever the Newton Star's doing is not helping with that

He has 4 arms due to the Newton Star mutating his body but is able to retract them using a sort of magic

IT'S FINALLY MAY! Meaning I can finally post my take on some mer designs for the boys.

I've been developing them as a species for some time and I have quite a bit of lore on them now. They are officially known as Celestis Luminaeri (also the name of this AU) but are more commonly referred to as Celestial Mers, and they come in two types; solamers and the semi-nocturnal lunamers.

Because they're still part of the same species I wanted them to have some obvious similarities (body and face shape, placement of the fins with the exception of their head and tail fins, as well as the ribbon on their back fin.

Solamers have two horizontally placed tail fins and are more flowy in design, while lunamers have a single vertical tail fin and are a bit spikier.

Both have a shiny almost metallic sheen to their scales as a nod to their canonical animatronic selves (also why I added a glittery effect to Sun's fins lol, because ✨glitter✨).

I will be writing a story with them at some point in the future.

Very happy with how they came out, gonna have a lot of fun drawing shenanigans with these two :D
