the max and henrik gifset made me think about what you said about henrik and his relationship with gender and i’m wondering how the rest of the cryptid squad react (a bit ooc no way henrik will be able to articulate That but bear with me)? i have no idea how john will react but david will 200% be chill and reassure him with charming smiles and Hugs(tm). rox will go to the local library and stay there for three days gathering whatever info/research/etc she can find. what are your thoughts??

John’s reaction is a tricky one to figure out, yeah. I think he’d ultimately want to be accepting, because this is the love of his life after all, but I can see him struggling to understand/being confused about it at first (and also probably trying to work through what this means for his own sexuality - idk about anyone else but I’ve always read John as gay) and unintentionally ending up making Henrik feel alienated.

The fact that Henrik would probably still be at the point of being very tentative and shy about it, and still working through things himself, probably wouldn’t help matters. There would probably be a lot of “so, do you want to be a woman, is that what this is” conversations and they’d both have difficulty communicating what they were actually feeling and it would just end up feeling miserable for the both of them. :( Ofc they work things out eventually though.

David would be lovelyyy about it and I love picturing that. He’d probably be the person Henrik goes to early on when John doesn’t understand and Henrik’s still trying to make sense of it himself, and David’s like “hey it’s gonna be alright you’ll figure it out” and Hugs™ ensue.

All of my headcanons have Rox as a trans woman tbh, so. (No particular reason, I just think trans Rox is neat.) I think Henrik would actually go to her about it first, over anybody else, because of that.

He’d spend a lot of time just trying to put his feelings into words in this sort of “I think I’m maybe like you but not quite??” way, and Rox would be the one to explain to him that being nonbinary is A Thing (I assume Henrik’s heard of that by now, but probably still hasn’t really had enough exposure to the concept to make that “oh, this is me” connection). Then she supports him through the whole “oh my god there’s a word for this, now what do I do, who do I tell” phase. :’)
