More patches! featuring a bunch of band patches this time

Ways I’ve been creative and made art as someone who doesn’t know how to draw!

1.) decorate things with stickers! I find this really fun and a way to be creative and reflect more of my personality onto my surroundings

2.) wrapped my headphones! These things aren’t working too well these days so this acts as another way to express myself and to reinforce things to be more sustainable and try not to buy more stuff and create more waste

3.) created my own pins for bands I love! It’s a really fun craft for me to do and it’s a nice way to show my love for music without having to spend so much money on merch. It’s also unique merch that only I have!

4.) followed a pixel grid on some graph paper to make some album cover art!! It’s kinda a mindless activity for me to just chill out and again it’s unique merch for a band I love

5.) recycled soda tabs I’ve been collecting to make chains to spice up my outfits! It’s a good use of materials I already had and I love them

6.) (not pictured) my many crochet projects that I’ve been working on

This all goes to show that you don’t need to know how to or enjoy drawing or painting or what you might think of when you hear the word art or artist! I’ve always loved being creative but always felt weird calling myself an artist because I didn’t draw! Now I’ve found the type of art and creativity that I enjoy and I love it

In honor of both the @tmntseparatedaucompetition and my blog reaching 1000 followers I’m doing a DIYS contest!!

Promised to do a Shades of Purple DIYS once I reached 1K and it lined up wonderfully with the comp coming back around!! Makes for easy propaganda content for me ;3

THE RULES!!! There isn’t really any! You know the drill, draw this illustration in your style and feel free to take some artistic liberties with it!! Draw Donnie in all his turtley glory, change up their outfits, add in Jase or Jeremy even if you want!! Or Shelldon!! Have at it and have fun!! When you do make your entry please post it here (tho feel free to post it on any other social media as well, as long as it’s posted here on tumblr too) and tag me in it!!

The contest will go until September 1st! I will select 3 top winners!! All winners will get a print of the original illustration sent to them in the mail (or a file of it to print themselves if they are uncomfortable giving me their address) as well as a shout out post from me and their entries will be linked in my SOP master post!! Second place will receive an additional print of my redraw of the photo from the rottmnt movie. First place will get all of the above as well as a hand made SOP themed keychain and free sticker from my shop of their choosing!!

mostly finished first aid kit!! theres some hand sewing that needs done to fix some spots, and i want to surge around the zipper on the inside possibly. its messy but like. in a charming way :3 I didn't do a lot of planning with this and just tried to do it really quickly... but it still took almost 4hrs on my machine...

patterned using a first aid kit i bought, but the plastic case doesn't fit properly so i have to find other containers :') it goes on a belt (yayyy utility belt!!!!) and can hook to my patch pants for more stability

before and after pics of a gas mask bag i got at an antique store a couple years ago, wasn’t quite happy with how I decorated it so i decided to rework it

i painted all the patches except for the sunflowers on the strap of the bag, those were leftover fabric from a t-shirt i used to make the back patch for my vest

the buttons i bought while working at faire this year and one of the pins and the aroace star was made by one of my partners :-)
