I gotta wonder what maded you start doing your Lazy Camp comics?

Cuz I'm paid to.

I was originally approached by @roan-rpg to make illustrations and backers rewards for the Roan RPG game book - later on Clear Skies asked if I wanted to take on a different project for the RPG-universe he created with Roan.

Showing me the old WWII comics by Bill Maudlin, saying he needed a cast fitting for it and comics made in a fitting style, aka ink and all.

And ya know, I always wanted to make comics, I was just never good coming up with enough ideas (or patience) myself. But taking on the Lazy Camp comics I never regretted. All the scripts in the world already exists, just gotta remember to make proper credit to our man Bill Maudlin, and making single panel comics in ink are actually easy and quick for me to do. Only obstacles ever just been a few times I needed a joke explained by a more military minded person, like Clear Skies himself.

Even made a couple of covers for future comic volumes with these to be sold at the Roan RPG booth at cons they dare attend when it is safe. And as proud as I am to see my art in print in the main book, these comic volumes are all just my art and even more pimping, ya know. And I've greatly enjoyed designing and working on every member of the cast. A few from other artists' designs too, just as loveable.

Even as I keep staying closed for commissions, I keep doing these for @roan-rpg, as a steady gig. I see Clear Skies as my employer and the greatest one at that. Met him once at BronyCon19 and had a great time meeting other crew members.

Been working on some fine stickers for the Lazy Camp cast, got some illustrations done for the expansion book, and we still plotting out more cast to be added to really dive into the different species and classes that Roan offers.

She’s never really met them except in passing but doesn’t have a strong opinion one way or the other, truth be told.

Probably respectable fighters and she’d approve of that, but they’re also kinda jerks for no real reason. Well, some of them. It’d be a case by case basis I imagine.

Ad an idea and wanted to ask. Does Hektor have any stories from his time in boot camp with the NCR or any stories from his first few years as a trooper? Also side note, what would they look like as a ranger?

When it comes to the ranger armors, gotta say I never liked them. The regular armor is too stocky and the veteran armor is everywhere. It’s the poster outfit and the symbol of the game, everyone wants that coat and cosplays it and so on, and it always looked pretty basic to me. The coat is nice, but how could I choose jeans over amazing uniform breeches with wrapped up calves? Hektor on the other hand would probably like to wear it, he applied to be transferred to rangers multiple times, this often blocked by commanders who didn’t like him, and after Hoover Dam where rangers “took all the glory”, and Oliver got offended they didn’t let any soldier become a part of them too easily. Boot camp stories, hm. Rookie Hektor was often punished for various levels of insubordination, as a runaway from abusive family he was constantly torn between wanting to prove himself and spitting in the faces of people giving him dumb orders. He has one most awkward girl story, where convinced by squadmates it’s a good idea, he tried to pick up a Follower girl by lying he needs medical attention. She saw right through him.

Hektor has a collection of scars earned during my four years of active roleplaying him, he’s definetely not trying to hide them. Leg wraps are part of his uniform, but i gotta say wearing high socks as a kid definetely provided some protection.

I was wondering if Hektor fought under Aaron Kimball during the Mojave expansion? Like cleaning up the gangs in the Mojave and was he around the time of the Bitter Springs massacre?

Hektor joined NCR when they arrived on Mojave, they were first advanced looking military he met that he counted on to someday take on the Legion he’d escaped. Yes, he was already past his basic training and started service with campaign to clean up the gangs. His deeply denied legionary education had some impact after all: being 17, clean from drugs or even alcohol he deeply despised all kinds of chaotic, drugged and drunken cruel raiders. (side note: his platoon companions changed that ‘no experience with alcohol’ quite fast) Bitter Springs Massacre was after first Hoover Dam Battle (or so i found on Fallout Wiki), so of course he was already serving, at that time in the rank of lieutenant. I never really thought if he fought there, but either way he must’ve spoken loud against it, because this is the period where he makes the most enemies within NCR, and his promotion to captain is getting blocked until over a year later. NOTE: I don’t give specific years in this explanation as the timeline I rp in with friends is slightly changed for the needs of our plot and because of no courier six being a hero.  (Mostly it’s NCR arriving on Mojave around three years earlier and no second battle for Hoover Dam in 2281)

Silly question. What does tiefling Hektor or think of kobolds? (More of of a reason to see more Tiefling Hektor.)

Him being a guard captain is like the only developed thing for this AU, so kobolds can just live their little lives, but when they come too close they become kinda a pest problem.
