KILLING SPREE – Camouflage !

Tout foufou Killing Spree est un duo initié par le saxophoniste Matthieu Metzger (Klone, Orchestre National de Jazz, Louis Sclavis, Marc Ducret, Anthurus d'Archer, recherches sur Meshuggah…) lors d’un concert au Japon et de la rythmique de Grégoire (Deathcode Society, Glaciation, Kwoon, Vent Debout…).

« Camouflage ! » via Klonosphere/Season of Mist satellite avec sa délectation esthétique un free jazz dans la sphère metal, tel un OVNI !

Si le freejazz semble être une dichotomie à une oreille néophyte, il est une anarchie dont le sens applique un dédale d’indépendance. En place de suivre un fil d’ariane, le duo s’engouffre dans un labyrinthe libertaire. Après digestion il ouvre une porte tridimensionnelle vers la mystique, tet ici l’occultisme sonique, qui n’est pas sans rappeler l’exégèse mystique pratiquée par la kabbale.

Cette artère mystique-occulte irrigue toute la production sans se laisser réduire à un simple folklore ou à une pose affectée. Killing Spree fait du frëejåzZz. Son liant provient des musiques progressives en télescopage autour de Franck Zappa, Meshuggah, Nostromo, Morbid Angel. Son féroce appétit vient orienter et renforcer le sens occulte du metAl, permettant de projeter la volonté de chaque création à travers des formules cryptiques. Ainsi le dissimulé, le secret, la nature véritable du monde sonique se démasque par un édifice dont la clef de compréhension symbolique ne nous est pas immédiatement donnée. Il faut laisser aller de soi pour en être dans l’absolue d’une écoute féroce, presque cannibale, tant le duo malaxe, sculpte, burine dans sa folle élégance, puise sa force subliminale, sa puissance de sang dans un art sonique tient autant du culte à mystère que de l’étourdissement émotionnel. A noter l'apport de Christiane Bopp sur « The Psychopomp » au trombone.
