Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day of the fortnight which occurs twice every month. One falls during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) and the other on the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon). There are 24 ekadashis in a year. The number goes up to 26 during the ‘Adhika maas’, extra month as per the Hindu calendar. Ekadashi that falls on the Ashadha month, the eleventh month according to the Hindu calendar is called as Devshayani Ekadashi. Today is Devshayani Ekadashi, ie 10 July 2022. Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Ashadi Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi, and Hari Shayani Ekadashi. What is Chaturmaas? Lord Vishnu falls asleep in the Kshir Sagar (the ocean of milk) on Shesha Naga (king of all nagas). Hence the day is called Shayani Ekadashi. He awakens from his deep sleep after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi which falls in the Hindu month of Karthik coinciding with the Gregorian months of October or November. This period of four months is called Chaturmaas. ‘Chatur’ meaning ‘four’ and ‘maas’ means months. Why does Shri Vishnu go to sleep? On Devshayani Ekadashi, before Shravan Mass lord Vishnu Goes in Yog Nidra (Sleep), So Lord Shiva take care of the universe in his absence. That is also a reason why people worship lord Shiva in Shravan mass. In the rainy season, after Shri Vishnu sleeps for four months the annual pralaya takes place. The lord sleeps as he is tired of his work and needs a break. This pralaya is the time when the world gets a new life. The rishis are said to divide the year into two parts – the first from January to June and the second from July to December. During the second half of the year, the days are shorter and belongs to daityas (demons). Hence, it is the time when people observe more fasts, abstain from non-vegetarian food and alcohol, and celebrate festivals to seek the blessings of God and to keep up with good deeds. There are a number of festivals during these four months – starting with Nag Panchami, Krishna Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Ganeshotsav, and Diwali. ప్రద్యుమ్న మంత్రముతో కలిపి గరిటిచేత మెల్లగా ఎనపవలెను. ఉడికిన తరువాత, గురువు అనిరుద్ధమంత్రముతో దింపవలెను. ఆ పాత్రను కడిగి, నారాయణమంత్రముతో, భస్మచేత పాత్రకు ఊర్ధ్వపుండ్రము లుంచవలెను. ఈ విధముగ ఆ చరువును చక్కగా సంస్కరించవలెను.

ఒక భాగము దేవునకు, రెండవ భాగము కలశకు సమర్పించి, మూడవ భాగముచే మూడు ఆహుతులు చేయవలెను. నాల్గవ భగామును గురువు శిష్యులతో కూడా భుజించవలెను. క్షీరవృక్షమనుండి దంత కాష్ఠమును గ్రహించి, దానిని నారాయణ మంత్రముచే ఏడు సార్లు అభిమంత్రించి పవిత్రము చేసి, దానిని నమలి విడువవలెను. తన పాప మంతయు ఈశాన్యది��భి ముఖముగా పడిపోయినట్లు భావన చేయవలెను. శుభ##మైన నరసింహమంత్రముతో నూరు సార్లు హోమము చేసి, ఆచమనము చేసి, పూజా గృహము ప్రవేశించి, తూర్పున విష్ణువును స్థాపించి ప్రదక్షిణము చేయవలెను.

"భక్తవత్సలుడవైన ఓదేవా! సంసార సముద్రమునందు మునిగి యున్న పశువుల పాపములను తొలగించుటకు నీ వొక్కడవేశరణము. ఓ! దేవదేవా! ప్రాకృతములైన పాశబంధనములచే బద్ధులైన ఈ పశువులను, నీ అనుగ్రహము వలన విముక్తులను చేసెదను. అనుజ్ఞఇమ్ము." అని విష్ణువును ప్రార్థించవలెను.

విష్ణువునకు ఈ విధముగా విజ్ఞాపన చేసి, పిమ్మట పశువులను ప్రవేశించి, పూర్వము చేప్పినట్లు ధారణలచేతను, జ్వలనాదికముచేతను సంశోధనముచేసి సంస్కరించి, మూర్తితో కలిపి, నేత్రములను బంధించి చూపవలెను. అచట పుష్పమములతో నిండిన దోసిళ్లను విసిరి, ఆ పేర్లను చేర్చవలెను. అచట వెనుకటివలె క్రమముగా మంత్రరహితముగా అర్చన చేయవలెను. పుష్పము ఏ మూర్తిపై పడునో ఆ మూర్తి యొక్క పేరు ఆతనికి పెట్టవలెను.

Chapter 27 🌻 Mode of performing the initiation rite - 2 🌻

After stirring it with the (basic syllable of) Pradyumna the worshipper has to mix it slowly with the ladle and then the cooked food is lifted with the (basic syllable of) Aniruddha.

Having washed him and besmearing (with sandals), the vertical mark is made on the forehead with the ashes. The food thus prepared well is placed by the side with the (basic syllable of) Nārāyaṇa.

A part of it has to be offered to the deity, the second part to the jar, and with the third part he should offer three oblations.

15-17. The preceptor has to partake of the fourth part in the company of his disciples for the sake of purification. Having consecrated seven times (the stick) got from the milky tree, the piece of wood for cleaning the tree being made use of and discarded and being conscious of one’s sins and having offered oblations to the hundred auspicious and most excellent lions lying in the north, northeast, east and southeast, having done the ācamana[4] and having entered the chamber of worship, the knower of the mystic syllables should assign ViṣṇU in the east and do circumambulation.

You are, alone, O Lord! the refuge of the beings immersed in the ocean of mundane existence, for the release from the fetters. You are always kind towards your worshippers.

“O Lord of Lords! (you) permit (me). (I will) free these beings by your grace from their earlier fetters by which they are bound”.

20-21. Having submitted thus to the lord of the celestials and having made the animals enter (the place), (they) have to be purified then by holding them as before and to be consecrated with the fire. Having yoked them with the deity their eyes should be closed. Their eyes are covered. Handful of flowers are offered there and their names are added.

Worship is made duly as before without reciting any basic syllable (mantra). That particular name of the idol on which the flower falls that is pointed out.

నారదుడిట్లు పలికెను -

ఓ దేవ దేవా! ప్రజాపతీ! విధీ! తరువాత ఏమాయెను? శివలీలలతో కూడిన వృత్తాంతమును దయతో ఇపుడు చెప్పుము (1).

బ్రహ్మ ఇట్లు పలికెను -

ఓ మునీ! కృత్తికలు ఆ శివసుతుని తీసుకు వెళ్లిన తరువాత కొంత కాలము గడిచెను. కాని పార్వతికి ఏమియూ తెలియకుండెను (2). ఆ సమయములో చిరునవ్వుతో ప్రకాశించే ముఖపద్మము గల దుర్గ దేవదేవుడు, సర్వేశ్వరుడు అగు శంభు స్వామితో నిట్లనెను (3).

పార్వతి ఇట్లు పలికెను -

దేవదేవా! మహాదేవా! నా శుభవచనమును వినుము. ఓ ఈశ్వరా! అతిశయించిన పూర్వపుణ్యవిశేషముచే నీవు నాకు లభించినావు (4). యోగి శ్రేష్టుడవగు నీవు దయతో నాతో గలిసి విహారము నందు నిమగ్నమై యుండగా దేవతలు మన విహారమునకు భంగము కలిగించిరి. ఓ శివా! (5) విభో! నీ తేజస్సు నాలో ప్రవేశించలేదు. ఓ దేవా! ఆ తేజస్సు ఏమైనది? ఏ దేవత దానిని దాచినాడు? (6) మహేశ్వరా! అమోఘమగు నా స్వామి యొక్క తేజస్సు వ్యర్థమైనది. ఆ తేజస్సు శిశురూపమును దాల్చినదా?, అయినచో ఆ శిశువు ఎక్కడ? (7)

బ్రహ్మ ఇట్లు పలికెను -

ఓ మునీశ్వరా! ఆ జగదీశ్వరుడు పార్వతి యొక్క మాటలను విని నవ్వి దేవతలను మరియు మునులను ఆహ్వానించి ఇట్లు పలికెను (8).

దేవతలారా! నా మాటను వినుడు. పార్వతి యొక్క ప్రశ్నను వింటిరి గదా! అమోఘమగు నా తేజస్సు నుండి జన్మించినన శిశువును దాచిన వారెవరు? O sage, after the son of Śiva had been taken over by the Krttikās some time elapsed but the daughter of Himavat had no knowledge of the same.

Meanwhile Pārvatī beaming with her lotus like face told her husband Śiva, the lord of the gods.

Pārvatī said:—

O lord of the gods, listen to my auspicious words. O lord, you have been attained by me, thanks to my previous merits.

Although you are the most excellent among the Yogins, O lord, you became desirous of dalliance. But my dalliance with you was interrupted in the middle by the gods.

O lord, your semen fell on the ground and not in my womb. Where did it go? Among the gods by whom could it have been concealed?

O lord, infallible is your semen, how can it be fruitless? Or has it developed into a child somewhere?

Brahmā said:—

O great sage, on hearing the words of Pārvatī, the lord of the universe called the gods and the sages and laughingly said to them.

Lord Śiva said:—

O gods, listen to my words. Has Pārvatī’s statement been heard by you? Where has my unfailing semen gone? By whom has it been concealed?

If he, out of fear, falls at my feet quickly he may not be punished. If a king, competent enough, does not rule firmly he will be harrassed by the subjects. He cannot be a protector.

Brahmā said:—

On hearing the words of Śiva and after consulting one another they replied one by one. They were so afraid of the great lord.

🕉. మీరు మీ పట్ల బాధ్యత వహించడం ప్రారంభించినప్పుడు, మీరు మీ తప్పుడు ముఖాలను వదిలివేయడం ప్రారంభిస్తారు. మరికొందరు ఆందోళన చెందడం ప్రారంభిస్తారు, ఎందుకంటే వారు ఎల్లప్పుడూ అంచనాలను కలిగి ఉంటారు మరియు మీరు ఆ ఆకాంక్షలను నెరవేరుస్తూ వచ్చారు. కనుక ఇప్పుడు మీరు బాధ్యతారాహిత్యంగా మారుతున్నారని వారు భావిస్తారు. 🕉

కానీ మీరు ఎంత సున్నితంగా మారితే, అంతగా మీరు బాధ్యతారాహిత్యంగా మారుతున్నారని చాలా మంది భావిస్తారని మీరు కనుగొంటారు. మీరు దానిని అంగీకరించాలి-ఎందుకంటే వారి ఆసక్తులు, వారి పెట్టుబడులు సంతృప్తి చెందవు. చాలా సార్లు మీరు వారి అంచనాలను నెరవేర్చలేరు, కానీ ఎవరి అంచనాలను నెరవేర్చడానికి ఇక్కడ ఎవరూ లేరు. ప్రాథమిక బాధ్యత తన పట్ల తనకు ఉంది. కాబట్టి ధ్యానం చేసేవాడు మొదట చాలా స్వార్థపరుడు అవుతాడు. కానీ తరువాత, ఒకరు మరింత కేంద్రీకృతమై, ఒకరి స్వంత జీవిలో పాతుకు పోయినప్పుడు, శక్తి పొంగి పొర్లడం ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. కానీ అది విధి కాదు. ఇది చేయవలసింది అని కాదు కానీ ఒకరు దీన్ని ఇష్టపడతారు; అది ఒక భాగస్వామ్యం.

🍀 211. IRRESPONSIBILITY 🍀

🕉. When you start becoming responsible toward yourself, you start dropping your false faces. Others start feeling disturbed, because they have always had expectations and you were fulfilling those demands. Now they feel that you are becoming irresponsible. 🕉

When say that you are being irresponsible, they are simply saying that you are getting out from under their domination. You are becoming freer. To condemn what you are doing, they call it "irresponsible." In fact, your freedom is growing. And you are becoming responsible, but responsibility means the ability to respond. It is not a duty that has to be fulfilled in the ordinary sense. It is responsiveness, a sensitivity.

But the more sensitive you become, the more you will find that many people think that you are becoming irresponsible-and you have to accept that-because their interests, their investments, will not be satisfied. Many times you will not fulfill their expectations, but nobody is here to fulfill anybody else's expectations. The basic responsibility is toward oneself. So a meditator first becomes very very selfish. But later on, when one has become more centered, rooted into one's own being, energy starts overflowing. But it is not a duty. It is not that one has to do it. One loves to do it; it is a sharing.

శ్రీమాతకు వేరొక సాక్ష్యము లేదు. కనుక ఆమె 'సాక్షివర్జిత’ అయినది. శ్రీమాతకు ముందున్నది తత్త్వమే. తత్త్వము నుండియే శివ శక్తు లుద్భవించినవి. అందువలన వారే లోకసాక్షులు. వారి నుండి దిగివచ్చినవారు వారిచే గమనింపబడు చుందురు. దిగివచ్చిన వారి నుండి తర తరములుగ దిగివచ్చినవారిని పరికించవచ్చును. సర్వ జీవులను సూర్యుడు, చంద్రుడు, యముడు, కాలము, పంచ భూతములు గమనించు చుండునని 374వ నామమున తెలుపబడినది. వారిని లోకసాక్షు లందురు.

వారికన్న క్రిందుగల లోకములను వారు సాక్షులై చూతురు. కాని వారిని కూడ గమనించునది, పరికించునది శ్రీమాత. క్రింది లోకములవారిని పై లోకములవారు దర్శించ గలరు. చీమ, దోమ, పురుగు మొదలగు జీవులు మనల నంతగ దర్శించవు. మనము వాటిని దర్శింతుము. అట్లే మనము దేవతల నంతగ దర్శింపము. కాని దేవతలు మనలను గమనించుచునే యున్నారు. వారు మనకన్న ఉన్నత లోకముల నున్నవారు. వారిలో కూడ శ్రేణులు గలవు.
