Fancy gloves! <3

Cables all the way up the fingers! Fancy curved wrist-line! These gloves have so, so much going on. Although I think I would need the wrist part a bit longer than that...and also, the last pair of gloves I knit was done in double-knitting so the entire fabric is two layers thick, and as such, I think they may never wear out (well. that was sort of the goal anyway XD) so I don't suppose I need to knit new gloves anytime soon, alas...

Her grandfather, Jeb, bought the building that would be the Rattler when he was young. He’d renovated and built it up himself. Ever since then, Jeb’s tended the bar. Missy’s nana, Doreen, works the kitchen. Her dad Lucas bounces, which isn’t as exciting in a town like theirs, but it might be a good thing. Her mom, Tessa, sometimes tends the bar, sometimes waits tables, but, when the kids were little, she stayed home with them. Or brought them to the bar. Now, that may sound irresponsible at first, but you need to remember that the Valley’s a town where everyone knows everyone else. She never brought the kids in late. Always kept an eye on them. The regulars would help with that, too. Again, small town. The people who came often were, without exception, friends of the family. Either they already were, or they became it over time. That’s how Missy and her siblings came to know the more ‘rough-and’tumble’ crowd of the Valley. She’s not dumb enough to go out at night - that’s a ‘no’ for most folks in town - but she’s never felt afraid walking alone. She’s never needed to. Even back in high school, she could stroll right into the Rattler and wave to the gang of bikers sharking the pool table, or Old Man Edgars in the corner, and everyone’s pretty sure he’s been running the hard stuff for years, without it seeming weird to anyone. That’s how she met the Undertaker. Well, ‘met’ might be a strong word. She doesn’t really know him. Even after she started working the bar with her grandpapa, she only ever served his drinks once or twice. (Old Jeb was close friends with the late J.T. Cowell. Even now, he feels he owes it to his old friend to check in on his kid when he can, even if that just means filling his cup and offering conversation, so he makes a point of being the one to do so.) She doesn’t know his name, but, it seems that nobody does, any more (if they ever did). At least the town only has one undertaker, so it’s not too confusing. She knows that he’s quiet, and keeps to himself, apart from a select few, but gets on well enough with the other patrons. She knows he’s polite enough, never gives her any trouble, always says ‘thank you’, but she also knows he’s pretty scary when he’s mad (he’s helped her dad kick out some less pleasant folks before). She knows he drives a bike, and when he’s looking for a drinking partner he hangs out with the local gangs (especially the four of them that always seem to come in and leave together). … She knows he drinks a lot, especially on certain days. More than is probably healthy. She knows that her grandpa is a bit more lenient with the cut-off limit for the Undertaker than he is with most people. She… Sort of knew about the fire? It had happened nearly twenty years before she was born. By the time she heard of it, it had become a local legend. She’s heard so many different versions by now, just like everyone else, she has no idea what the truth is. The only ones who’d know for sure would be the Undertaker and his recently-returned brother (who she knows even less, and only usually sees when he swings by to give his older brother a ride home). She doesn’t think it’d be appropriate to ask. As for her, she’s not bothered by it. They’re weird, but, if even half, or even one of, the stories are true, they have every right to be, and they don’t give her any trouble. Hell, since the Undertaker is at the bar pretty regularly, he’s chipping in to her college fund. She wants to study literature, somewhere out of town (of course). It might not be a useful degree, but hey, she’s gonna get the bar, so it doesn’t matter. She’s just interested in it. Especially the old classics. If she doesn’t stick with bar life, her backup is English teacher. High school kids can’t be any worse than drunk bikers, can they?

Parents: Aziraphale and Crowley (long story)

Species: half angel, half demon (the only one in existence)

Facts:

Crowley thought of her first name

He claims it was because he just liked the biblical name

but really he named her after the Queen song

Aziraphale has no idea that’s the real reason

Aziraphale chose her second name because you know it was the place where everything began.

Doesn’t know how she ended up with blue eyes since Aziraphale has brown eyes and Crowley’s are yellow but genetics are kind of weird in terms of ethereal and occult beings so who knows.

Loves art, writing, drama and musical theatre

Leader of her the Loser Troupe (the name of her group of best friends)

Nice girl but don’t screw her over

Has a crush developing on her best and oldest friend, Cyrus Black.

Potty mouth

Learned all the swears from Crowley

Learned to drive at eleven via Crowley (behind Aziraphale’s back).

Hates Hastur

Thinks Gabriel is terrible

Doesn’t question his authority though

Easily persuaded

But not easy to tempt

Tends to be torn between her demonic tendencies and angelic tendencies.

Been in trouble since birth

Almost killed by a demon, Lilith, whilst she was on a baby killing spree the day Delilah was born (luckily she stupidly told Crowley this, underestimating the demon’s affection for the ‘new born’ and he alerted Aziraphale and got them somewhere safe)

Almost discorporated one time when she was five after being held underwater by a rouge demon who wanted to hurt Crowley and knew it wasn’t easy to go after Aziraphale so went for their daughter instead. Crowley and Aziraphale rescued her.

Loves her parents to bits

But doesn’t believe Crowley cares about her and doesn’t understand that he shows his affection in a less forward way (along with him missing a few events in her short life)

His dad has a huge interest into the ancient Persians and Greeks so he named his children after them

Cyrus is named after Cyrus the Great

His older sister was born when his dad was 16

Chaotic good

Big fan of DnD

Had a crush on Delilah Crowley since they were four

Is blunt towards Delilah but only because of his crush

Acts cool but is actually a softy

Likes bad stuff like stealing and mild violence

Doesn’t condone killing though

Unless it’s other demons

Hates his mum to bits

Because she abandoned him with his dad and then went off on a child killing spree.

Learned it all from school

On the school football team

Hates his teammates though, because they bully his friends (mostly Delilah)

Pulls petty revenge on them every time they do it

Facts:

Parents were fans of Game Of Thrones and he was born on the anniversary of the show ending so they named him after Ned Stark.

He’s half French on his mothers side

Parents divorced amicably when he was six just because they didn’t feel a romantic connection there any more but they were still best friends.

In fact Tyler Wilkins introduced his ex-wife to his friend, Bobby Herschel and they started dating

Ned Is very close with his soon to be stepfather, Bobby unlike older siblings who hate their mum’s boyfriend because he seems to favour Ned (Bobby doesn’t, he’s just trying to help Ned with his anxiety and insecurity)

His older siblings tease him because he’s the youngest and the runt of the litter (they’re all outgoing whist he’s an socially awkward)

Developed a phone app software prototype by the age of 10

Nervous wreck after being framed for stealing a piece of equipment from his dad’s work which threatened his dad with losing his job.

It was actually a joint effort from his siblings who did it as a joke.

Socially withdrawn

But has friends he can confide in and accept his social awkwardness

Gets mostly ignored by his parents who spoil his younger sister because she’s ‘perfect’ (she’s not perfect and hates being treated like the sunshines our of her backside and really dislikes that Dexter gets treated horribly)

Loves baking and looking after his friends

His dad does not approve of that

Met Delilah, Cyrus and Ned at age 11

Mostly stays at Ned’s house as a result of his parents being horrible towards him

Has massive crush on Ned

The chargers played consistent, tough football. After finishing with the same record as the #1 seed in the playoffs. They unveiled a version of Quarters defense that had 4 defensive linemen, no linebackers, and 7 defensive backs. The chargers hoped they were able to contain the middle with their 4 defensive linemen and use their defense backs and their speed to contain Lamar Jackson. While this plan worked for the Ravens, the Patriots hoped and prayed for the chargers to use this defense. When the Chargers used the modified quarters, the Patriots ran the ball down their throat. Any time the Patriots ran the ball, the Patriots would get a consistent push up the middle. They wouldn’t out run anyone, but they would get a healthy running game at 4.6 yards and 4 touchdowns.  After whooping the Tide in the Championship game, Dabo NoSwaggy and his young goldilocks QB deserve to be here. The Tigers have a great opportunity to go wire to wire at number one, something that has only happened twice, and hasn’t happened since 2004 (’04 USC, ’99 FSU).

This is a pressure filled season for Clemson. They need to at least make it to the championship game for the conversation to continue about their dominance. They are trying to change college football history to at least include them as co-dynasty holders to the ‘Bama show in the 2010’s.  The Tigers need to win the national championship this year, anything less would be a massive disappointment. Believe in the Tigers to repeat. Believe in Dabo looking goofy as ever doing it.

Offense

Trevor Lawrence is poised to be the best college quarterback of all time and has a monster receiving corps to throw to. Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross are returning and Diondre Overton is filling in for injured Amari Rodgers. That’s three receivers over 6’3” and over 210lbs. There is not a defensive backfield in the country that can stop these receivers without sacrificing the size to stop one of the country’s best RB duos in Travis Etienne and Lyn-J Dixon.

All-American talent in all skill positions on offense is highly coveted but it all starts at the O-Line. Clemson has mostly veterans on the line and if they remain healthy, it could be unfathomable to dream up a scheme to put pressure on the best QB in college football, plug holes to stop one of the best RBs, and maintain coverage on this massive WR group.

Defense

Defensively, Clemson is replacing Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, and Dexter Lawrence. Xavier Thomas and Justin Foster will carry their own at DE and on the interior they have size and experience to make this line once again one of the best at least in the ACC. LB’s may be their kryptonite in that they have talent but not experience. The Tigers don’t really have time to get their LB’s up to speed as they play A&M week 2 and Syracuse week 3 but Brent Venables can scheme for anything. Clemson is right to make him the highest paid assistant in the country. Outside of those two games, expect Clemson to roll through the rest of their schedule and ACC Championship game.

Expect the Tigers to return to the top of the college football world and become the third team ever to go wire-to-wire. Final Ranking: 1

Things to look for in preseason opener

The Green Bay Packers will open up the preseason tonight against the Houston Texans in Green Bay after two days of practicing against each other. As preseason openers go, this one is all about the backups for the most part. But that is why I like them. You get to see guys fighting for the football life. And some of them may very well play a big part of the Packers’ success should someone get hurt.

I like to watch these games to see what backups can do and who stands out and forces tough decisions for the coaches. Mostly these games are about the backup quarterbacks. Many sports betting sites around the world have the Packers back in the hunt for a title after the change of coaches. To do that obviously need a healthy Aaron Rodgers for most of the season. But the Packers need a reliable backup, something they haven’t had for any part of Rodgers’ career. Sadly, this year doesn’t look much better.

DeShone Kizer and Tim Boyle are battling for the right to backup Rodgers and neither one look like they can play in an NFL regular season game. Kizer has some experience, but Boyle has the stronger arm. Maybe rookie Manny Wilkins will unseat one of those two. One thing is sure, they will have plenty of opportunities over the next four weeks to show what they can do.

Another area of interest to me is the offensive line. I can’t remember the last time the Packers had any real depth on the o-line. And it’s also been a long time since the line stayed healthy for a whole year. So I’ll be watching to see how those guys do, because if they struggle, the offense struggles.

Running back and receiver should be fun positions to watch as well. I can’t wait to see Dexter Williams run. I’m not an Aaron Jones fan, so I want to see this kid make a move up the depth chart. And at receiver can Jake Kumerow keep up his eye-opening play without doing something stupid again this year.

I love these games, you don’t have to get nervous or worry about who wins, it’s just guys fighting for a job. But still – Go Pack!

Week 1 Recap & Week 2 Preview

It’s finally that time of year again and College Football is back! Week One was a great start to the season for the Tigers. The Clemson Tigers opened up their season with the Kent State and put on a real show. Ultimately Kent State was outmatched and the Tigers took every opportunity to show that. This weekend Clemson will get tested by Auburn but first let's recap last weekend.

Coming into this season, the Clemson offense was under question after losing Deshaun Watson but used Saturday as a chance to show that they’re still thriving. The Tigers wasted no time scoring their first touchdown in the first two minutes of the game. CJ Fuller was the first to find the endzone on a twenty-six yard run. Clemson then went on to score on their second possession when Kelly Bryant threw a dart to Deon Cain for a sixty-one yard pass completion. The Tigers were able to go three for three with a ten play possession that resulted in Adam Choice running into the endzone for a three yard touchdown run. Clemson’s sixth possession also resulted in seven points when Bryant decided to show off his mobility on an eight yard carry. Coming back from halftime the Tigers were up twenty-eight to three but weren’t slowing down yet. Clemson’s first possession of the second half was a seven play drive that ended when Fuller ran for two yards into the endzone. Tavien Feaster was able to add to Clemson’s lead when he ran forty-seven yards into the endzone on the Tiger’s second possession after halftime. Clemson’s third drive also resulted in a touchdown when Zerrick Cooper completed a fourteen yard pass to Cornell Powell. The Tiger’s were able to reach the endzone one last time when Travis Etienne ran four yards.

The Clemson offense was electric last Saturday, showing they’re full steam ahead. Hunter Renfrow was seen briefly against Kent State, but as soon as he stepped on the field the stadium erupted in cheers. We can expect to see Renfrow more this week, though I’m sure Auburn has learned from Alabama’s mistake and will be on the lookout for him. Numerous freshman were able to come out against Kent State and make plays. The depth at wide receiver is outrageous, all of which came out to prove they have what it takes to earn time on the field. The Tiger’s have numerous playmakers that should be seen as threats by other teams. The future for the Clemson offense is nothing but bright.

Last season many analyst talked highly about our defense and this year they have the ability to be just as good if not better. Many veterans as well as new guys have stepped up and been explosive. Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence continue to be the dynamic duo that every college football team wishes they had. Tanner Muse and Dorian O’daniel continue to step into the spotlight and impress. One defensive player I’m extremely excited about this season is defensive back Marcus Edmond. Many people may be quick to forget about Edmond but last year he showed how reliable he was especially at the end of games; just ask Louisville and NC State, I’m sure they haven’t been able to forget about Marcus Edmond no matter how many times they’ve tried.

Special teams come out and performed without any mishaps. Last season returns were hit or miss but last Saturday they were solid. Kicking has also improved which is crucial for Clemson to be successful this season. As the season special teams will only continue to settle and improve which could lead to explosive returns.

The Clemson team is up for a challenge Saturday night against Auburn but it’s moments like this that the Tigers prepare for.  The Clemson Tigers are ready to prove that they are contenders and will be ready to hit the field come seven. Auburn’s offense will test Clemson’s defense which will be exciting to see. Auburn’s quarterback has looked impressive so far; the Clemson defense will need to infiltrate the line and ensure he has limited time in the pocket. The defense will need to play as a unified machine to ensure they contain Auburn and don’t give up large plays. The Clemson offense needs to come out with the same intensity they did against Kent State. Scoring quickly could be a real confidence boost for Clemson which could in turn swing the momentum in the Clemson Tiger’s direction. Kelly Bryant will need to make smart decisions in the pocket and really use his supporting cast. Special teams will be critical when it comes to field position as well as immense plays. You can’t talk about a night game in Death Valley without mentioning the atmosphere. Death Valley is a lively environment no matter the time of day, the game can always be heard around campus. No current Auburn player has ever played in Death Valley which could really hurt them come game time.
