Crusader kings 3 has a sexuality mechanic that i really really like, all characters in ck3 are historical figures, but even though we viewed everyone back then as straigh. here the sexuality is randomized. dexuality defines an affinitty but not an exclusive attraction because you still need straight sex for kids/heir ofc, but the game has an actual hidden sex count meter that defines the chance of you getting pregnant or not

Sexuality here enters in that, if you are gay, you have less sex with your spouse and less chance for children, if you are both gay, the chance is almost zero. This also opens interactions with other characters, you can be straight and habe sex with the same sex as long as they are same sex attracted (usually you seduce someone for political purposes), and vice versa

Gay characters are also more likely to be friendly towards other gay characters, like this one time I was playing as the Leper king and his sexuality was rolled as bisexual, which gave him this neat unique interaction with another gay character about him choosing the best man for him

if others find out that you are gay, you get the sodomite trait while females do not get any debuffs (most likely theyll get adulterer instead), sodomite lowers the respect of all characters belonging to religious that disallow same sex couples and increases the respect of sodomites but thats....it? Theres nothing else to it, sure, you can get excommunicated if you are catholic, but you can always kill the pope and hope the next looks kind on you
