If you’re looking for a book with an asexual main character but their asexuality isn’t the main plot point, I cannot recommend the @dragonoak trilogy enough! I just finished the final book, and I just want to cry at how good it is!
The main character is asexual and in so many happy, wonderful loving relationships, including an explicitly romantic, long-term one with another woman. (And did I sniff out a potentially qpr-like relationship with another character?)
Her asexuality doesn’t define her, but it is something present in her relationships. All it takes is once saying “I’m not into doing that” about sex and her girlfriend respects that and backs off and they are intimate in other ways. It’s so beautiful.
Dragonoak is a fantasy series that features pirates! Plus, a unique new race that has horns and tusks (check out their FAQ for some awesome art of this), they’re so cool! Seriously, what more could you want!? The main character, Rowan, is a necromancer. The series revolves around Rowan’s struggle wanting to help people but needing to protect herself, as necromancer’s are feared, used, and killed once discovered in these times. In the bigger picture, Rowan and her companions are trying to save their lands from a dragon scourge that isn’t at all what it seems like.
This series is so refreshing to read. There’s so much queer rep. So many women dating women. Some men dating men (although this book first and foremost is about women, so the women characters greatly outnumber the men). Trans people. Nonbinary gender neutral people. They pronouns for people. Asexuality. And while some characters have faced judgement and prejudice for these things, the message by and large is that we’re here, we’re queer, and we’re awesome! Plus, there’s tons of characters of color and some disabled and addiction rep as well! Everyone just so seamlessly flows together. There’s a good chance you’ll come across a character you can relate with in these books.
Honestly, I’m more of a magical realism person than a fantasy person, but this series by the wonderful Sam Farren flips fantasy on its head and elevates the genre.

(Check out Dragonoak tumblr linked in the beginning for more buying options as well!)
These are books I’m going to go back and re-read several times over. Just an incredible journey.
