For me, your comic "dog future past" and other people's comics like growth spurt and dremmurr rebirth have my favorite interpretation of chara. As in chara, it may not be the devil, but their something wrong and troubling with that kid.

Also, I did like how you portrayed gaster, and it breathes air compared to most that go "SUPER MASTERMIND 4D CHESS PLAYER OF DOOM!1!1!1

And awww thank you, I'm so glad that you enjoyed Chara in DOFP and the like! It's a little crazy...I feel like if I were to write them for it now, I'd write them a little differently. I think I might have been a bit too brain poisoned by fandom into thinking of them as EEEVIL at the time. It wasn't until after drawing the Chara Origins backstory that I felt like I was getting a better handle on them, and that they're primarily just a deeply traumatized and troubled kid.

But ah well, did my best for DOFP, and I'm very glad that you were happy with them and with Gaster!

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it's interesting to me that in Undertale, a world that can be considered angelic (because it is the opposite of the devilish Deltarune), the family with connections to the Devil suffers the most. The Dreemurrs are goats, and Asgore is literally the king of the underworld. Sounds familiar?

In Deltarune, i.e. in a world that is openly devilish (because it has many connections with the Devil/Gaster), the family associated with the birth of Christ suffers the most. Noelle is also Jesus

The Holiday family and the Dremmurr family have very similar stories? It's a bit weird

It’s not a fetish AU, just a dumb parody I’ve been thinking about. I’ve always kinda headcanoned them to be a little chubby, because the player’s always making them eat during battles, and also because it’s kinda implied how much Kris likes Toriel’s cinnamon-butterscotch pie (Dude, they deadass tear their soul out, whip out a knife and go Genocide Chara mode over Toriel’s pie shfjwjekaowkfjzbdkla).

Man why is Chara being such a jerk to Flowey? He's not even doing anything bad. Hell, he's actively helping people and they're still just being a total jerk because of stuff they apparently can't move past???

Flowey and Chara's relationship in Valiant Souls is... complicated, to say the least. Keep in mind that this is purely Valiant Souls, and is in no way a statement on their relationship in canon Undertale.

(Got a little long so here's a cut.)

Chara's developed some very bad relationship habits. I want to say 'co-dependent' but I'm not entirely sure that fits. Basically, Chara has a hard time seeing the good in the world, partially due to their bio family being awful and partially due to the low levels of KINDNESS in their soul. But in two people, Asriel and Frisk, they see all those good things they have trouble seeing elsewhere. Compassion, empathy, all that general feel good stuff. So they kind of put them both on a pedestal.

Flowey has Asriel's memories, but he doesn't have any of the traits of Asriel's that made Chara love him. He is, from Chara's perspective, a perversion of their little brother. He's an insult to Asriel's memory. It's like... imagine meeting a person who has all the memories of a dead loved one, but none of their personality, and then they go around killing people. It doesn't help that a lot of Flowey's worse traits seem to be learned from Chara.

What complicated matters more is Frisk. When Frisk awoke Chara, they'd been stuck in the Void for so long that they didn't have any memories. Frisk, who woke them up with their compassion, was the only thing they knew, and Flowey (Who was ringing bells, but wasn't enough to bring Chara's memories back) attempted to kill them. This was what motivated the attempted Genocide Run. And just like Frisk has trouble forgiving Chara for that, Chara has trouble forgiving Flowey. They're just not as nice about it.

TLDR: Flowey is a mockery of Asriel, and Chara can't stand him. The entire Dremurr family needs family therapy.
