Kansas State University says:

Dukno Yoon received a MFA in metalsmithing and jewelry at Miami University in Ohio and a BFA at Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea. Yoon explores movements and mechanical structure as form to create small kinetic sculptures and wearable form. His artwork has been exhibited in Korea, Japan, Australia and the United States. His career as a metal artist/designer also includes costume production of crowns, armor and metal masks for several TV shows by major broadcasting companies in Korea. He has also received several international awards and federal grants in Korea and has been featured and included in numerous publications. He is currently an Assistant Professor and the Area Coordinator of metalsmithing and jewelry at Kansas State University.

Fragile Machines

Derek Johnson has just released his last film: Fragile Machines. While our soon to be published interview with the New York-based fashion filmmaker reveals precious and inspiring insights about his creative process, here is a glimpse of his thoughts:

”Fragile Machines cycles through seasons, space, the bodies of women and water with the fluidity and rapidity of panicked memory.

The origin of the work is its movement direction, which follows a form of contemporary dance: contact improvisation. Because of this improvisational quality, the film began completely formless and was born out of the discoveries the cast and Its directors made together and then let evolve over the course of two years. Along the way, we found an undercurrent of desire, failure, freedom, and sex in the movement and let that set our course.”
