So on my Clangen clan Dawnclan I have a clan founder named Cherrystar(btw, he's not the original leader of the clan from when I started) and he died 258 moons ago and he somehow still has living kin and so I'm going to make a most to explain how this is

Chasingwhistle had her daughter, Emeraldspeck(†)

Emeraldspeck became mates with Beeshadow(†)

Beeshadow's sister is Moonstar(†)

Moonstar had Dapplegale(†) and adopted Cinderpatch(†)

Cinderpatch had her son Beetlestar(who is the current leader)

Dapplegale had her son Gusttuft(†)

Hello there! Thank you for asking.

58. Do you have a favourite piece of figurative language you’ve written?

Not really! But that feels like a cop out answer, so I'm going to say that I'm particularly happy with this piece from turn to dust all that I adore, chapter two:

"... Mudclaw’s longing to tear at him only grew with every moment he offered pleasant but bland and meaningless comments on Tallstar’s life. [Dustwhisker] did not speak as a deputy suddenly orphaned by his mentor, nor did he speak as someone who had spent a lifetime basking in the warmth and glory of the sun only to find one morning that same sun suddenly shattered on the earth like an egg, nothing more than thin water and fragile shell. 

He was polite, but that was all."

To me, there is something so pathetic (in the literary sense) and humble about that painful recognition of reality -- i.e., the mundane and inevitable failure of the body. No matter how loved and admired someone is, or how significant to their time, they are a body and a body will not last forever. There's a disillusionment there, when you forcibly have to see someone else as mortal. I hope this passage captured some of that moment.

For the character matchup, I offer Anais Dustwhiskers! She's a young Olmakhan engineer who got her way into a ragtag asura krewe and loves all things explosions. She's curious to a fault, happy-go-lucky, and diligent. Friend/partner/rival are all fine!

Anais and Liv are both engineers, both work with multi-racial groups and are just chill people. Additionally, Liv would like to talk to her about the Olmakhan, as he is curious as an archeologist. I think they'd get along swimmingly and have tons of fun together, plus explore some giant cat only experiences due to being from vastly different backgrounds!

Personality:  

Dustpaw is a watchful and observant kit, learning from afar easily and then copying what she sees and experiences. She is quiet and respectful, not being a rowdy, rude, or trouble making kit even though she is very playful and loves games. She is patient and gentle, not whining or fussing about things. However she is very protective of family and herself and won’t passively accept an attack verbally or physically. She’s level-headed and somewhat emotionally detached, not having great extremes of feeling or often showing many emotions other than a calm good humor seeming one. However, she is very sincere in her devotion to family and her growing interest in serving the clan. She loves to imitate adults working to try to be like them.

Under which wind do you think Mudclaw and under which one Onewhisker/Dustwhisker (love that prefix for him!) were born?

Hello there! Thank you for writing in--I’d been wondering how long it would be before I got asks like this. I’ve gone back and forth on how I want to answer, but I think ultimately this is too much behind the curtain. 

Personally it’s a lot more fun for both of us for me not to give answers for things like this, at least at this stage. I have a wind in mind for most significant Windclan cats, but I sort of feel it’s more fun for that to be revealed in stories, if at all. I feel like there’s a lot of fun in speculation also--thinking and hypothesising about who has which wind, and what that means for them; or even deciding which is right to you, in your headcanon, rather than simply being told my answer. 

Finally--and I get that this is possibly just a me thing to find interesting and exciting--but something I like so much about the nine winds is considering that any cat could, theoretically, be born under any of the winds. Meaning is sort of what you make of it. 

So I guess once again I’m answering a question with a question: which winds do you think?
