been doing a reread and i got to the bit with lizardtail picking on firepaw at his first gathering for not knowing about suriin, which has led me to be particularly taken with how much more laid back lizardtail has grown over the course of the books since then! was it just a natural progression of growing up and realizing that he was being a bit of an immature jerk, do you think? or is fireheart just that charming?

It's a little of both. Everyone's changed a little after getting to know Fireheart, but Lizardtail was also a good deal younger and a lot snootier about outsiders as a result of his upbringing in ThunderClan. Having an apprentice has helped him grow and mature, too.

Got another Lizardtail ask for you. Did he ever notice Fireheart’s kindness toward his apprentice (like helping him with chores)? Did that shape his opinion of him at all, assuming that Swifttail is also fond of Fireheart?

Man, everyone noticed Fireheart helping Swiftpaw out, or at least heard about it. Fireheart didn't realize it, and still doesn't, but that boosted many of the cats' opinions of him, including Lizardtail. Swifttail is friendly with Fireheart for sure, and his old mentor thinks much more highly of Fireheart - not just because he helped his apprentice, but because of how it speaks to his character that he's willing to "lower" himself to apprentice duties in the name of supporting his Clanmates, and doesn't even think anything of it, in fact being baffled that no one else is doing the same thing. Fireheart's actions speak loudly to everyone, and Lizardtail is not immune to respecting him.
