Lilith was taken aback with her ears dropping. Her irises were unfocused. She simply stared at Eda’s face. Her heart pounded in both excitement and uncertainty. “Mind if you repeat that, dear Edalyn?” She asked. “I want a kiss!” Eda responded. “Y’know, on the lips!” Lily felt the heat rise up to her face. She felt paralyzed, frozen in place. Normally it wouldn’t be a problem, but they weren’t anywhere private. They had been dating for a few months now, but they hadn’t kissed yet. Outside the family, nobody knew about their relationship and Lily wanted to keep it that way. It wasn’t that it was forbidden, in fact it was accepted for family members to date, but she didn’t want people to ask her about it. Eda agreed to not talk about it, even if she thought Lily was worried for nothing. Yet despite that, Eda stood there asking her that question. She had that innocent smile on her face like she didn’t do anything wrong. Lily quickly looked around to make sure no one looked their way. “But- But we’re in public!” Lily objected. “Don’t worry, Lily, nobody’s gonna be looking.” Eda reassured. She took Lily’s hands and held them. Their fingers intertwined together. Eda’s smile was soft and gentle. Lily looked at Eda’s golden eyes. “I promise.” After a moment, Lily took a deep breath. She looked around once again just to make sure. Then she cupped Eda’s face and kissed her. Their eyes closed as Eda threw her arms around Lily. Lily could tell Eda’s lips curled upwards. She melted into her lips. Her heart could explode into a million pieces. Eda pulled away with sparkles in her eyes. “That was pretty great!” Eda exclaimed. “See, what did I tell ya? Nothin’ to worry about!” Lily cleared her throat as she looked away. “I- I still don’t want us to be public with our relationship.” Eda rolled her eyes. “Fine by me, just as long as I get more kisses.” Lily smiled as Eda walked past her.
