as a teacher/recent grad student, do you have any advice for someone who’s about to start college? i’d love just some general advice, but also i’m feeling pretty disheartened by all the chatgpt use at my high school bc i feel like my friends think i believe i’m morally better for not using it, when i really just want to get my full education.
Rules of going to college:
1. Get over yourself and ask for help when you need to. This is the only way out and through.
2. Speaking of: there is no problem in the world that cannot be solved by emailing the right people and politely asking for help. Extensions, questions, tuition, credits, etc.
3. Seriously go to office hours. It’s okay to be scared to go to office hours but you should still do it. Go say hi or ask the prof about their research or help with a paper. Building any kind of relationship with your professors and TAs goes so far.
4. Actually doing the reading will put you in the top like 10% of the class. Try your best to do the reading always if that fails skim it and write down what you could talk about from it.
5. Have some kind of planner. Mine was a weekly to do list in my notes app that I updated for all my classes every Thursday when my planner alarm went off.
6. Volunteer somewhere off campus. It makes you feel more connected to the community, you meet new people, and can help you figure out what you’re passionate about.
7. Go outside. Say yes to things. Talk to people. Sometimes life-changing opportunities happen as a result of random coincidences. Go to class, but once in a blue moon you have to skip it to lie in a nice patch of sun and get coffee.
8. If you get drunk off of bad cheap alcohol before you go to sleep you need to have two waters and one carbohydrate. Sometimes this happens after you wake up but better late than never.
9. You will probably go through at least a couple complete and total agonizing ego deaths or friend circle dissolutions or moments where you think that everything is just over and falling apart. It’ll be fine it’s just the new life comes with the expense of the old one.
10. Get really good at using libgen and the wayback machine. Invaluable.
#oh yeah and remember to get a flu shot#you are morally better than other people for not using chatgpt

M.A. Rothman
Harvard Just Released its Final Report on Antisemitism and Anti-Israel Bias.
It’s 300+ pages and pretty devastating to read.
I thought I knew what was going on at Harvard, but even I wasn't prepared for this.
#1 A Jewish student was told they couldn’t share the story of their Holocaust-survivor grandfather’s rescue efforts because he helped Jews reach British Mandate Palestine.
Organizers said it was “not tasteful” and “inherently one-sided” because it mentioned Israel.
#2 Many Jewish and Israeli students were told their presence was offensive.
Some were asked to denounce Israel to be considered “one of the good ones.”
This came from every part of campus including peers, instructors, and faculty.
#3 Jewish students on academic trips were told their “Jewish tradition had become indistinct from a settler-colonial project.”
Some were told they shared guilt for "atrocities" committed by Israel.
#4 After Oct 7, Jewish students faced an avalanche of hatred on anonymous apps.
This digital harassment contributed heavily to a climate of fear and isolation.
Posts saying “Israel deserved it” were upvoted.
“It was surprising to see educated people post such horrible things”
#5 Some students posted images reading “Decolonization is not a metaphor” with blood dripping from the text labeled as Jewish blood.
Other posts regularly used terms like “Israeli scum” and “Zionist dirtbags.”
#6 Israeli students had it particularly hard. Many avoided certain degree programs, courses, and class discussions because of antisemitic hostility.
One said they felt every comment was filtered through: “The Israeli is speaking.”
#7 One administrator told a Jewish student they were in “a whole world of trouble” for deleting horrifically offensive antisemitic posts from a group chat.
#8 At a Harvard Law event for the families of the hostages, Harvard chose to move the Jewish students for safety reasons while protestors roamed around freely.
“They walk around like they own the place.”
#9 As we well know, chants like “Globalize the Intifada” were widespread on campus.
Many Israeli students on campus survived the Second Intifada and said that hearing it chanted daily was traumatizing.
Anyone who spent time in Israel during that period knows what they mean.
#10 At a Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies event in Harvard Divinity School, Oct 7 was described as an attack on “Israeli Jewish settlements.” in an effort to dehumanize the victims and erase the civilian massacre that took place.
#11 At the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Healths "Palestine Program", Israel was portrayed as existing only to oppress Palestinians.
When Jewish students raised concerns, they were asked, “Who is more marginalized, Jews or Palestinians?”
#12 In a university-wide survey, most respondents said they do not feel safe expressing their political views.
They feared academic or professional consequences.
Jewish students were twice as likely as their non-Jewish, non-Muslim peers to feel unwelcome and unsafe at Harvard
Responding to a slightly differently worded question, even larger percentages of Jewish students (67%) expressed discomfort sharing their opinions in general, with that number rising to 73% when it came to expressing political opinions. Students who are neither Muslim nor Jewish were 20 percentage points less likely to express such discomfort.
Almost 60% of Jewish students reported experiencing "discrimination, stereotyping, or negative bias on campus due to [their] views on current events," and only 25% believed that there was no "academic or professional penalty" at Harvard for expressing their views.
#13 The rest of the report continues in much the same vein, though it places significant emphasis on anti-Muslim hate which I found odd, given that a separate report was commissioned to address that.
This report is a damning indictment of the most prestigious university in America.
That it took Trump getting elected to force change is an embarrassment.
That the president quit because she couldn’t say calling for genocide is wrong is shameful.
Can anyone seriously imagine Harvard treating any other minority the way it treated Jews over the past year and a half?
The utter disdain and complete disregard for their well-being is visible on nearly every page of this report.
I'm not optimistic that this report will change anything.
But it guess it's a start.
Here's the full report:

Blog Post #10
What are some of the benefits of the Patriot Act today, and why are they important?
The Patriot Act basically states that the government is allowed to use surveillance as a tool to aid in national security to prevent attacks such as 9/11 in the future. According to Parenti, some of these forms of surveillance include search warrants, subpoenas, tracking, wiretaps, etc. All of these tools are important because they allow the government to get a feel for how secure some places are and if there are any potential threats, they can step in before things get out of hand. It’s understandable why this can make people feel uncomfortable and like they have no privacy, but it’s also important to consider the benefits and how this act can keep us safe.
2. Why would the Patriot Act broaden the definition of a “terrorist?”
The Patriot Act would technically broaden the meaning of a “terrorist” because, instead of the word meaning someone who is specifically targeting the United States with bad intentions, it has a variety of meanings. Like Professor Lee’s slides said, a terrorist can now technically be defined as a person who doesn’t get a permit for a protest or “anyone who breaks the law in order to impact policy or change public opinion and does so in a way that might endanger human life” (slide 5). This can create a large amount of fear and uncertainty because it doesn’t seem like threats are being taken as seriously as they should be, in a way.
3. Why are protests seen as such a threat in the eyes of the government?
The government sees protests as a “threat” because it’s sort of the people’s way of challenging the government’s power. People are able to have their voices heard when protesting and see it as a chance for them to speak up for what they believe in and what needs to be fixed. Protests can be a great tool to spread awareness and educate others when done peacefully; however, when protests start looking more like riots, that’s when they’re much less beneficial. The government is supposed to be run as a democracy and consider the people’s point of view and what will best serve them, but when the government wants all the power (which is what it looks like as of right now), that’s when the people get worried and more protests come to light.
4. Why is it important to keep track of your digital footprint?
Your digital footprint can be extremely important because it has to do with your safety, both online and in real life. Some of the examples we discussed in class included how phones allow apps to track you and use your data to improve things, such as AI. These features are built in or reset with every update to your phone, and users have to manually turn off tracking for each app. This is crazy to me because it seems like a lot of work to go through to prevent people from knowing their apps are tracking them and using their data. It may be true that some of it is for safety purposes and bettering technology, but it also limits our privacy and makes some people feel unsafe in their own homes because their devices are always listening to them.
5. How can people lock down their digital identity to avoid cyberstalking and harassment in online spaces?
People can take the steps to make the internet a safer place for themselves by using VPNs, clearing their cookies, deleting data from digital assistants such as Siri and Alexa, checking the credibility of a website before using it, etc. There are a variety of tools out there meant to help protect people and keep them safe from online threats, as well as protect their identity and avoid things such as identity theft, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, harassment, etc. When using any sort of map on a device, it saves your locations to make it more convenient for you to find them later, but this can also be dangerous because if anyone were to get a hold of your phone or look at your map, they could easily find out which places you frequent the most.

It's 2024 and who doesn't succumb most of their days scrolling in their phones, typing away in fb messenger, making tiktoks or just laughing at cat memes. Of course, as a Gen-Z-er, I'm part of the digital native population or basically you can call me—chronically online because let's be real here I basically grew up with the internet. That is why I cannot imagine a life without technology, I feel like life would be 100x harder than it is today.
If you were to ask me how deeply integrated technology is to my daily life then I would tell you I am living in a "Cybereal world" and what is that you ask? It's a word I just made up to describe an interconnected world of technology and real life. Now, to get you a look in my daily life in the Cybereal world, let me show you how my day usually goes.
First, in the morning I consider my phone as my lifeline. Why? because as a student who's always tired and sleep deprived I find it hard to always wake up on time so I set up countless (and when I say countless I really mean infinite number) of alarms with 10 to 20 minute intervals. Sometimes, my friends also call me via Messenger or through my phone number to wake me up which I really appreciate so much 'cuz nothing beats starting your morning with some good vibes from your friends right?

After waking up, I start preparing for school. My school schedule is divided between online and offline setup. So on days where I have to go to school, I get ready with music playing in the background. I stream music from youtube 'cuz ya know I have to support my fave kpop group by streaming their music video or I use spotify as I have a subscription (thank god for student discounts it's like the only best thing I have received for being a student) ehem, anyways I usually just play music in my phone or my laptop (mp3 and CD players are so out of trend) . Then after getting ready, I chat my schoolmates and my beloved friends that I'm on my way to school and we decide on where to meet up for breakfast. Once I arrive school, the most important feature in our entire university campus is the elevator. I would not climb up 9 floors of stairs just to get to our room everyday. My weak body cannot tolerate that so praise whoever made elevators.

Online classes are like the best example of how internet and technology has changed this world like can you believe you can get proper education in the comfort of your homes? I really cannot grasp that idea at first but due to the pandemic that happened and the rise of digital world, it just became normal for me. Therefore, my online classes are just me (staring) listening attentively to my professor and taking down notes in Google Docs (PRO TIP! its easier this way).
After classes, I usually go out with my friends to go eat or visit some recreational spots just for leisure and enjoyment 'cuz we always go by the saying "You're never this young, so enjoy your life to the fullest." Of course, we cannot go anywhere without our phones 'cuz how are we going to navigate our way there without google maps? Or how can I go home without the use of transportation booking apps? As someone who sucks at directions google maps and online transportation booking apps are my holy grail.
Everytime I hang out with my friends, I always and I say ALWAAAYS end up with a hurting stomach because of excessive laughing and of course these moments are the moments we want to cherish and keep for the longest time. There's no better way to capture such wonderful moments than with your very high quality phone camera.
After spending a healing moment with friends, I'm back to being a fulltime student as I open my laptop and slave away to finishing school works. During exam seasons, I spend the rest of my week cooped up in my room in front of my computer reading transes for my exams. I also search more information on our topics and lessons in the internet. I also want to give a very special shoutout to Nurse Sarah and her youtube channel for carrying me throughout my college years.
Sometimes, I hop on discord call with my friends and we study together and teach each other concepts and lessons. I appreciate the rise of online calls through various platforms as it really makes it easy to communicate with people even without leaving my home.

A little bit about me is that I am diabetic so I have to take note of my blood glucose. There's this device called glucometer which lets me take my blood glucose level at home—which saves me lots of money as I don't have to go to the clinic and pay for professional fee just to get my blood glucose checked. Aside from that, I have to be active to stay healthy or else I'll have complications with my health. Therefore, I keep track of my exercise activity which I do using my phone and this app called health tracker.

I agree with what Ms. Ariana Grande said in her song 7 rings "whoever said money can't solve your problems must not have hadenough money to solve them" and so, I tend to reward myself by spoiling myself with my favorite things like buying kpop photocards and merchandises. I usually buy them online through applications or platforms like Shopee, Lazada or through twitter, which is now known as X. Whenever I buy online, I use this mobile money transferring app called GCash to pay for my items. I do agree that this form of e-wallet made purchasing items faster and more convenient as I don't have to frequently withdraw money from my bank account. If ever I do need to transfer money from my bank I can do it online through money transfer from bank to e-wallet. I would like to say that this also made me more impulsive in my buying decisions though. Luckily though this easier method of buying and paying is now applied in offline stores as I can pay my items through any e-wallet. All of this leads us to the equation of more things bought + more items gained = happier me

After doing all of these mentioned above, I move on to completing other house chores like washing my clothes like my uniform and then cooking food using our electric stove or the microwave if I'm feeling lazy. Being done all that, I end my day by listening to music again or watching k-dramas to put me to sleep. (i often forget to set my alarm again but I wanna thank whoever made scheduled alarm setups). All in all my cybereal world is full of living life with technology to accompany me in every step I take. Starting from waking up to ending my day, I need technology to back me up. Yes, I agree that I can do these things without my phone, laptops, etc but aren't traditional alarm clocks, cars, and even our doors are form of technology too? I believe that technology came to fruition to be a support for our everyday world. It's just up to us to control the way we let technology control our every day life. That ends this post, if you want to share your application of technology in your daily life then feel free to comment below your own version of your CYBEReal world! Thank you for reading~

Also like. Being "stupid" is not the kids faults. It's the government.
Quite literally.
They're defunding schools, getting rid of certain parts of the learning rubric (like phonics. These kids aren't taught phonics anymore! No wonder so many of them struggle with reading.) and also they're growing up through covid??? They've literally had the world shut down in some of the most important developmental parts of their lives.
I myself was 16. Some of these kids were in elementary school. And now they're expected to go straight into highschool with no problems???
And if you think I'm overreacting. It's been four years since 2020.
Most middle schools in my area only last 3 years.
And in fifth grade, these kids were only around 9/10 years old.
Imagine jumping from 9 to 13 without being able to make friends, or ask your teachers all your silly questions, or learn about how to act in public. And everything's closed, so you really can't practice. So you forget.
And sure. Your parents are trying their best. They're hanging with you over the computer while you email countless teachers and help desks because your "class" won't load. They're trying to explain to you how to do science and math and history, but every single question they answer is wrong... Somehow. But you can't do it yourself because the video you're supposed to be watching doesn't explain it in a way that makes sense. And they've also been trying to make sure that you can face time with your friends from before, and also your cousins and other kids your age. Except all your friends are changing and you don't really share the same interests anymore. And you don't really have many ways of talking to new people, either.
Unless you want to go online.
Which is fine and dandy in all, but you also have to factor in the fact that safe Internet practice really isn't being shoved in our faces nowadays. There's no warning sign on our websites anymore saying hey! Remember not to share your name or age!! Or make it your username or password!! Because people can use that to hurt you!! And anyone as young as seven can be found on TikTok and Roblox, and everything else. You can see their faces and everything. Who's teaching them not to show their faces?? Who's warning them about the bad people online?? No one. Because they think that everyone already knows.
They think that a simple warning of "you must be 12 or older to make an account" is enough. As if someone who is 10 won't just lie. I'VE lied. We ALL have! But we also had a pretty good idea not to actually share anything that would expose our lie. Because it was enforced more firmly. And because websites and apps were regulated by actual people. Not ai.
In fewer words; kids today aren't "dumb" by choice. They were set up for this shit by adults who have decided to skimp out on education.

watching gen z and millennials make fun of gen alpha has been torturous. "But they're actually stupid" 1. theyre middle schoolers 2. isn't that what older gens said about us? don't you remember being 11?
it truly is just "impulse reaction to cringe <- has not yet unlearned shame"
the cycle continues let me out of here
guys. guys I think we should kill cringe culture

In 2025, wine education is taking off as curious sippers dive into grapes, regions, and tastes, no sommelier degree required. These 10 wine education tips will get beginners swirling with confidence. Ready to uncork some knowledge? Let’s pour in! Wine Tips for Beginners Wine Tips for Beginners Wine education isn’t just for pros—it’s for anyone who loves a glass and wants to know more. In 2025, it’s trending as people seek fun, accessible ways to deepen their wine game, from casual sipping to savvy buying. Perfect for solo learning or a team building experience, wine education makes every bottle better. Curious how to start? Here are 10 essential wine education tips for beginners this year. 1. Taste Everything You Can Wine education begins with your tongue—sip reds, whites, rosés, and sparklings, from $10 bottles to $20 splurges. Try a Cabernet one day, a Sauvignon Blanc the next—variety builds your palate. Wine Tips for Beginners I started tasting whatever I could grab, and a cheap Pinot opened my eyes—simple and fun. It’s the core of wine education. Share this tip at a team building tasting—sip wide, learn fast. 2. Learn the Big Five Grapes Focus wine education on the classics—Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot. These grapes cover most wines and teach you flavor basics fast. Wine Tips for Beginners I memorized these five, and suddenly labels made sense—Cab’s bold, Chardonnay’s creamy. It’s a quick wine education win. A curated package could kickstart this wine education step with a grape sampler. 3. Sniff Before You Sip Wine education leans on your nose—swirl your glass, sniff, and spot fruit, spice, or earth before tasting. A $15 Malbec might smell like berries or leather—scent tells the story. Wine Tips for Beginners I sniffed a Syrah and caught pepper—blew my mind! Now, I nose every pour. It’s a wine education must. A team building experience could turn this into a sniff-off game. 4. Pair Wine with Food Wine education grows with meals—try Pinot with chicken or Riesling with curry. See how flavors shift; a $12 white might zing with fish but fade with steak. Team Building Activities, Food and Wine Lovers I paired a Sauv Blanc with salmon, and it clicked—light and lively together. It’s a tasty wine education hack. A team building dinner could explore this wine education trick deliciously. 5. Know Key Regions Wine education needs a map—start with Bordeaux (reds), Tuscany (Chianti), and Napa (Cabs). A $15 bottle from each shows how place shapes taste—terroir in action. Wine Tips for Beginners I tasted a Rioja after learning Spain, and its oak popped—place matters. It’s a wine education cornerstone. A team building experience with regional wines could map some fun. 6. Read Labels Like a Pro Wine education unlocks bottles—labels list grape, region, and year (vintage). A 2022 Pinot from Oregon tells you age and origin—clues to flavor. I decoded a label once—2021 Tuscany—and picked a winner. It’s a wine education superpower. A tasting package with labeled bottles could boost this wine education skill. 7. Start a Tasting Notebook Jot down what you sip—wine education sticks when you note a $14 Merlot’s plum vibes or a Chardonnay’s buttery finish. A cheap notebook or app works. Wine Tips for Beginners I scribbled about a Riesling’s apple zing, and rereading it sparked joy—memory lane. It’s a wine education keeper. A team building tasting could swap notes for this wine education step. 8. Join a Wine Club or Class Wine education thrives with others—clubs ship $20 monthly bottles with notes, or a local class ($30-$50) dives into tasting tricks. Both beat solo guessing. I joined a club and got a killer Pinot with a guide—eye-opening. It’s a wine education boost. A team building experience with a club could sip and learn together. 9. Sip Slow and Compare Wine education sharpens when you linger—sip a $15 Cabernet, then a Merlot, side by side. Spot the diffs: Cab’s tannic, Merlot’s soft—slow tasting teaches. I compared two reds once, and the contrast hit me—slow is smart. It’s a wine education gem. A team building sip-off with this wine education tip could swirl some insights. 10. Ask Questions Everywhere Wine education grows with curiosity—ask shop clerks, “What’s good under $20?” or winemakers, “Why this grape?” Every answer builds your know-how. I asked a clerk about a $12 white, and scored a zesty gem—questions pay off. It’s the soul of wine education. A team building experience could quiz the pros for fun. Why These Wine Education Tips Work These wine education tips click because they’re hands-on—taste, sniff, pair, and ask keep it real. They’re beginner-friendly—no jargon, just sipping—and flexible, fitting $10 bottles or fancy pours. They turn wine from a drink into a discovery, step by step. I’ve watched these tricks flip my “meh” sips into “wow”—Pinot’s earthiness clicked after sniffing. They’re not just tips; they’re your wine education starter kit. How to Dive In Starting wine education is a breeze—grab a $15 Cabernet and sniff it tonight. Taste a new grape weekly—five in a month nails the basics. Host a tasting—crack a few bottles, jot notes, and chat flavors. For groups, a team building experience with wine education is a blast. Picture your crew swirling Rosé or mapping Tuscany—it’s learning with laughs. A curated package could deliver wines and a guide to kick off your wine education journey. Bonus Hacks Start Cheap: $10-$15 bottles teach plenty—no splurge needed. Swirl Right: Aerates the wine—big sniffs, big flavors. Skip Sweet: Dry wines train your palate faster—sugar hides. Use Apps: Vivino or Delectable ID bottles—tech helps. Have Fun: It’s wine, not homework—enjoy the ride. These extras make wine education a joy, not a chore. Why 2025 Is the Year Wine education is hot in 2025 because it’s approachable—people want to know their pour without pretense, and resources are everywhere. These 10 tips—taste wide, learn grapes, sniff, pair, map regions, read labels, note it, join up, sip slow, ask away—make it simple. It’s not just learning; it’s sipping smarter. I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc ready to swirl tonight—can’t wait to sniff it out. Which wine education tip will you start with? Grab a glass, dive in, and sip into 2025. A Toast to Wine Wisdom Here’s to wine education in 2025—tips that turn bottles into lessons, from Cabernet’s punch to Riesling’s zing. They’re not just steps; they’re your path to wine love, sip by sip. So, raise a glass, learn a little, and cheers to the journey! This article is almost 10 years old.
A kid puts her hand up in my lesson. 'My computer won't switch on,' she says, with the air of desperation that implies she's tried every conceivable way of making the thing work. I reach forward and switch on the monitor, and the screen flickers to life, displaying the Windows login screen.
This one's newer, just over 2 years old.
More broadly, directory structure connotes physical placement — the idea that a file stored on a computer is located somewhere on that computer, in a specific and discrete location. That’s a concept that’s always felt obvious to Garland but seems completely alien to her students. “I tend to think an item lives in a particular folder. It lives in one place, and I have to go to that folder to find it,” Garland says. “They see it like one bucket, and everything’s in the bucket.”
Schools are demanding kids as young as 5 or 6 use computers - and nobody is teaching computer basics. Nobody is teaching the names of the computer components (monitor, hard drive, cpu, ram); nobody is teaching what the parts do; nobody is teaching what "apps" are (...we used to call them "programs") or how files work.
Of course Adobe is very happy that people will say "I'm using Adobe" because nobody remembers the name "Acrobat Reader." Adobe is thrilled that most people don't know that PDFs are a filetype that can be opened or edited by many different programs.
Typing, as far as I can tell, is taught less than it was when I was in high school - in a country where everyone is expected to spend many hours a week on a keyboard.
(When I applied for college at the for-profit scammy school where I got my paralegal degree, I tested out of their basic typing class. The class's goal was 40wpm; I type at more than double that speed. The counselor assigned to me said she'd never seen typing that fast. I have no idea if she was lying to try to boost my ego or was just really oblivious.) (If she was trying to boost my ego, she failed. I know what secretarial typing speeds are. Mine is mediocre.)
If I were more geekish and had formal education training, I'd try to put together a series of Basic Computer Literacy courses for schoolkids - a set for ages 5-8, another for 9-12 year olds, and a third set for teenagers.
Start with parts of the computer - and how they look different in desktops, laptops, tablets, phones.
Move on to OS: Windows, Mac, IOS, Android, Linux, and a hint of others. (Throw in a mention of game consoles and how their OS is and isn't like a standard computer OS.)
A bit of mention of OS types/versions - WinXP and Win10, and so on. A bit of what commonly changes from one version to the next, and what doesn't.
These are the starting points, not because they're the core of How Computers Work, but because they're the parts everyone interacts with. The 8-year-old doesn't specifically need to know Linux exists... but they need to know there's a DIFFERENCE between a Windows 11 new laptop and a desktop running something else. Needs to know that not all "Android" phones work the same way. Needs to know, when they open a new device, that it has an OS, and there are ways to figure out what that OS is.
Next there is:
Files, folders, internal structure - and how the tablet/phone OS tends to hide this from you
The difference between the app/program and the stuff it opens/edits
That the same file can look different in a different app
Welcome To The Internet: The difference between YOUR COMPUTER and THE CLOUD (aka, "someone else's computer") as a storage place; what a browser is; what a search engine is
Welcome To Metadata I Am So Sorry Kiddo Your Life Is Full Of Keywords Now And Forever
Computer Operations Skills: Typing. Hardware Assembly, aka, how to attach an ethernet cable, is the monitor turned on, what's the battery level and its capacity. Software-Hardware interfaces: how to find the speaker settings, dim or brighten the monitor, sleep vs power off, using keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse.
After alllll that, we get to
Command line: This is what a terminal looks like; this is what you can do with it; no you don't have to program anything (ever) but you really should know how to make it show you your IP address. (See above: Welcome to the Internet should have covered "what is an IP address?")
Internet safety. What is a virus; what's malware. How to avoid (most of) them.
SOCIAL internet safety: DO NOT TELL ANYONE your age, real name, location. Do not tell strangers your sexual identity, medical history, family details, or anything about any crimes you may have committed.
...I'm probably missing some things. (I'm probably missing a lot of things.) Anyway. Something like that. The simple version is a half-day crash-course in overview concepts culminating in a swarm of safety warnings; the long version for teens is probably 30+ hours spread out over a few weeks so they can play with the concepts.
Telling young zoomers to "just switch to linux" is nuts some of these ipad kids have never even heard of a cmd.exe or BIOS you're throwing them to the wolves
