when you're spoiled with the art and vision of the 2016 comic run, it's hard to sit back and see this story fit the hyper-real mcu style. :/

i truly don't think moon knight was really meant for screens, but kevin feige loves money and disney is always eager to add another name to it's copyrighted material roster, so here we are.

i mean, i'm a new moon knight lover — within the last three months i've read majority of the comic runs. so, yea, i already have some preconceived grievances with the first episode.

but! i think the depiction of steven's dissociation was well done — as someone who has sadly been in the "is this real" boat before, i think that oscar nailed the fear, confusion, and attempt to be fine really well.

double but! i think the moon knight cgi costume looks doofy as fuck.

if only disney would pay the unionized practical effect teams to do the lords work, because pixel toilet paper moony will never be my moony (2014)

So when Layla says she was afraid that Marc “got kidnapped again” I’m thinking that its likely that the previous kidnapping was when Marc got killed (and came back indebted to a violent Egyptian god). Which adds an interesting dimension to her fear. The exact shades of that fear depend on the details we don’t know yet, including if she knows the full extent of what happened to Marc--that he died-- and on how much he visibly changed as a result. But Layla’s whole perspective on this is really interesting.
