Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Karate Teams Selected After Al-Kabir Championship in Peshawar

karate teams have been selected to represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in upcoming competitions held in Lahore following the conclusion of Phase Two of the Al-Kabir All Pakistan Karate Club Championship in Peshawar.

The Championship, which took place at the Peshawar Sports Complex, saw participation from various academies across the province including Safi Warrior Martial Arts Academy, Friends Shotokan Karate Center, Kohat Division Team, Shaheen Academy of Martial Arts, and Young Fighter Shotokan Karate Academy.

After the competition, a selection committee chose four teams consisting of Chaudhry, Shiraz Awan, Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Sharif, Habib Nazir, Mansoor Ahmed, Sheen Gul, Abdul Samad Jamal Khan, Kamran Ali, and Saif Ali.

The first team comprises Salman, Ibrahim, and Murad; the second team includes Haris, Abdullah, Asim, Shahzeb, Israr, Abrar, Atta-ul-Rehman, Ehtsham Parvez, Muhammad Saleem, Abdullah Jr., and Waris Habib. Pakistan Super League Severely Hit, Several Overseas Stars Pull Out Ahead Of New Season

Several high-profile international cricketers have pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the overlapping of dates with other franchise-based tournaments and many cricket boards denying permission to their players to compete in domestic T20 competitions. The PSL begins in Lahore on February 17 and all the six franchises have been hit hard with several players opting for the Bangladesh Premier League, ILT20 and SA20 leagues.

PSL side Multan Sultans have lost several players they had initially signed up for the upcoming season, with England pace bowler Reece Topley being the latest to pull out due to an injury.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also said it had not issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to Topley to play in the PSL.

Some other boards are also having second thoughts about giving no-objection certificates for PSL.

Multan will also be without Pakistan fast bowler Ehsanullah, who has failed to recover from an elbow surgery he suffered last year after the PSL.

Peshawar Zalmi have also lost a big name in Lungi Ngidi of South Africa, while Quetta Gladiators will be without Sri Lanka's Wanandu Hasaranga.

West Indies cricketers Shai Hope, Matthew Forde and Akeal Hosein, South Africa's Tabraiz Shamshi and Rassie van Der Dussen, England's James Vince and Afghanistan's Noor Ahmed and Naveen ul Haq, among others, will also skip the entire tournament.

A PSL franchise owner has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to revisit the tournament window, as it is not possible to get big players when three leagues are happening on after the other.

"The SA20 ended recently and the ILT20 concludes on the day the PSL begins, so it is getting difficult to sign big players now," he said on condition of anonymity.

He also pointed out that January-February is a busy season for international cricket series. Sri Lanka are playing a series against Afghanistan, South Africa are in the middle of a two-Test series against New Zealand while West Indies are playing a series against Australia.

"There is an acute need to change the PSL window, else it will lose its charm if we don't get big overseas names," he added.

A Toronto man has been arrested after police allege he repeatedly made inappropriate comments to young girls walking in East York over three days this month.

Toronto resident Ehsanullah Nesari, 21, was arrested and charged with one count of criminal harassment on Friday, according to a release issued by Toronto police.

The charges have not been proven in court. Investigators allege that each day between April 2 and April 4, Nesari harassed girls, all under 13, walking in Floyd and Pape avenues. They say he made inappropriate comments to the girls and asked them to him.

On Thursday, police released a photo of the accused to identify him. Nesari was scheduled to appear at Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Device used to send threat to New Zealand team belonged to India: Fawad

Fawad said that in August, a fake post was created under Ehsan's name which told the New Zealand cricket board and government to refrain from sending the team to Pakistan as it would be "targeted". He said that following this post, the bureau chief of The Sunday Guardian, Abhinandan Mishra, published an article claiming that the team may face a terror threat in Pakistan citing the fake post by Ehsan. According to its website, The Sunday Guardian was founded by politician MJ Akbar, who served as the minister for external affairs in the Modi-led BJP government till 2018. "Interestingly, has strong links with Amrullah Saleh," he said. He said that on August 24, New Zealand opener Martin Guptill's wife received an email threatening her husband from ID with the username "Tehreek-i-Labbaik". "When we investigated further, we discovered some facts. Firstly, this email is not affiliated with any social media network and only one email has been generated from this account," he said. The minister added that the email was sent via ProtonMail, a secure service. "The details are not available and we have requested Interpol to assist us and tell us how it was generated." Despite these events, the New Zealand cricket team did not cancel the tour at this point and travelled to Pakistan. "As the interior minister said, the security we provided outnumbered the number of people in their forces," he said. Fawad said that once the Black Caps arrived, the interior ministry issued a detailed protocol programme for them and the teams began focusing on the practice sessions. "It was sent using a virtual private network (VPN) so the location was shown as Singapore." He said that the same device had 13 other IDs, nearly all of which were Indian names. "All IDs were made using the names of Indian actors and celebrities. Only the name Hamza Afridi is different to show that this email was generated from Pakistan. "His name was used deliberately to show that a terrorist threat is present in Pakistan." He said that the user of the particular device had been identified as Omprakash Mishra from Maharashtra. "The device used to send the threat to the New Zealand team belonged to India. A fake ID was used but it was sent from Maharashtra." The minister added that the interior ministry had registered a case and had requested Interpol for assistance and information on the Tehreek-i-Labbaik ProtonMail and the ID of Hamza Afridi.
