So uhh, I may or may not be working on an Esmargot x Aluna soulmate au one shot. And it may or may not be uploaded in a few days. Decided to tell the person who’s also working on a Hrab au fic. I am so going to be assassinated for this, or praised. That option would be more concerning though :)

You know what I just realized about Fish Hooks that I love? A lot of the couples are not “conventionally attractive.” Even the women. It’s kind of nice that these teens and adults, with all different body types, find romance and happiness. I don’t mean this to be a slight on the character’s designs, but I just realized that. Sometimes it’s a little exaggerated that they’re not terribly attractive, but the creepy exaggerations are done with everyone.

bea → she/her cis straight. really big ally towards the lgbtq+ community and supports all of her friends, no matter what. goes to pride with you and donates to lgbtq+ charities once a month.

oscar → he/him trans ftm, straight. has a MAJOR crush on bea and questioning if he's bisexual at the moment. very unsure of where he stands on sexuality.

milo → pansexual, masc presenting enby he/they. the type of guy who loves everybody, and has no preference. chose their pronouns because he thought it looked cool and wanted to support his brother's transition.

shellsea → sapphic she/her cis woman. doesn't give a fuck about labels but tries to act straight to fit in. has a crush on both finberly and koi.

finberly → bisexual she/her cis woman. a little confused about where she stands when it comes to relationships, but is willing to support you. has a huge crush on shellsea but will never admit it, even though it's totally obvious. will also correct you if you use he/she, but loves you too much to not notice.

koi → feminine presenting nonbinary ace polyromantic she/they. still questioning if their crush on finberly is platonic or romantic, but her crush on shellsea is definitely romantic.

esmargot → she/her cis straight woman. probably doesn't understand sexuality at all and is still trying to find herself.

clamantha → trans ace straight she/her female. just wanted to date oscar for a bit and has no interest in sex with anyone.

jumbo → he/they pansexual cis man. doesn't really care that much about labels but pansexual felt right to him.

albert → he/him cis straight man. was probably raised in a homophobic household and doesn't know any better, and is probably still exploring his sexuality.

angela → she/her lesbian. most likely didn't want anything to do with men after she broke up with oscar, but tried a relationship out with jumbo and realized it was comphet.

jocktopus → he/him cis bisexual man. has a crush on oscar and bea, and used to have a crush on milo. likely broke up with pirhanica after finding out she was homophobic.

phiranica → she/her cis straight. lowkey homophobic towards the people around her and likely also grew up in a homophobic household.

randy → this is a trans gay man who is in love with milo. uses he/him pronouns and acts homophobic to seem cool and collected in front of his peers.

ms lips → pansexual, cis she/her. probably googled sexualities and chose the one that felt the most right.

mr mussels → he/him, cis gay. has known about his sexuality since middle school, and is not afraid to show it off.

coach salmons → he/they fem presenting demiboy, gay. everyone always thought him and savannah growing up were twin sisters, which probably pushed them to try changing up his identity. still trying to figure out how to be less fem presenting, but his boyfriend mr mussels loves him for who he is.

I feel like the fact that Pamela Hamster, who has a bit of a disadvantage of not being on the poll at first, managed to find her way into the top 10 is amazing!

Mr. and Mrs. Goldfishberg are leading the other additional characters because a couple of people suggested them as choices. I can only wonder how well they’d be doing if they weren’t put there late.

Jocktopus also has an additional point from someone who suggested him presumably because they were unable to find him among the choices.

I have... feelings... that Piranhica is dead last and got beat by Fish Vartan, who made his debut in season 3. He was a strong presence in the season, but I was never sure how many people stuck around that long (or would manage to catch reruns of season 3 episodes).

There are a bunch of ties in the bottom half of the choices...

Not a lot of people wrote in additional characters in the “other” section, but there were a couple of suggestions.

Someone wrote in Jeremy Fisher, the singer of the theme song!

Another wrote in Doris Flores Gorgeous. Should I count this as a vote for Clamantha...?

And, yes, it got its fair share of trolls on the first day, but nothing horrible has popped up since then!

Three days to finish and upload the Aluna x Esmargot soulmate au one shot I’ve been working on

I’ve heard so much about twilight and have neither watched nor read any of it. From what I’ve seen it’s good I haven’t apparently. This is going to end with people on tumblr knowing the weirdest facts about sea life, especially too many involving mating rituals.

It’s going to be tricky since tunas are entirely water creatures whereas escargots are usually land snails! I am very excited to see how your fic will be! :)

Oh, the research i have done on lobster and crab mating habits. (Too much) We're gonna educate these people on marine mating rituals whether they like it or NOT. I think the more specific and accurate these fics get, the more chaotic and intriguing they are!

so do you think you'll go for kind of a star crossed lover sort of thing?? where the Aluna and Esmargot fall in love but are separated by their natural habitats? i'm super excited that this is a soulmate AU, i'm literally a SUCKER for those!!

There are still a few ties, but the unpopularity poll has been used to break all but one of them. The unbroken tie puts two characters into 10th place! Angela, who is the reason why I continue to read the name wrong to this day, has sure soared high since the last time we checked in. Same with Clamantha! Mr. & Ms. Goldfishberg also finally managed to outrank someone who was included with the poll at the start!

For the “other” option, the last time we checked in, another suggestion put in was Bird Mom!
