after nico dies he doesn’t go to elysium he actually becomes a judge (he technically DID take minos’ job) and he’s like will i can’t bear being away from you i want to spend an eternity with you and will is like okay yes i agree there has to be a way. what im saying here is that nico wears will’s soul like a ring. there is a beautiful sparkling golden ring on nico’s left ring finger and it’s will’s soul. quite literally wrapped around nico’s finger and with him at all times. they are never apart and never will be for all eternity

Everybody get their panties in a twist whenever fem/non gender conforming/not solely masculine Nico comes up but the idea of Nico finally being enough comfortable with himself and his identity to ALLOW himself to explore parts of himself he grew up forced to condemn and hate is BEAUTIFUL to me. He was born in a societal context that refused everything that wasn’t alligned with the “perfect image of a man”, and him finally being able to let that go, to go past that and find himself is such good soup yall don’t get😞

And rn I’m saying this in relation to gnc Nico, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be. this is more of a general and broad thought i have! And it’s something that, yes, would have an impact on his identity, but that also really comes out with his relationship with Will as well! With his relationship with his friends, with his sister!

And like I don’t even personally hc him as gender non conforming and stuff, but it’s so sad to see that everytime it’s brought up from a genuine place it’s immediately shot down with arguments that go from being superficial to lowkey just misogynistic. WHOA who said that…

Do people not have media literacy? BOTH the Underworld and Tartarus were literally KILLING Will just by him BEING THERE. His health started dropping as soon as they really got there. It wasn't outright stated, but that's what context clues are for. He's basically a flower, which is extremely ironic with Apollo's love history. Flowers wilt, and die, without sunlight.

Yeah, Nico is a child of the Underworld, and Will needed to accept that he didn't need to be constantly saved. However, it's in Will's nature to be against the Underworld in a mental mindset. He lost every single one of his siblings except for TWO during TBOL and Manhattan. Events we NEVER see him mention (probably because Rick is really bad at having characters that aren't a select few ever have their trauma brought up, but yknow) to anyone.

Will isn't the only one that had things to work on, though. If Nico hadn't thought things out rationally, hadn't calmed down before thinking, he could've been the indirect reason Will died in Tartarus. The thing is, Nico STRUGGLED to think rationally, and we see it when he lashes out on Will before thinking AFTER the fact.

Bottom of the line: Will isn't a bad person for not liking the Underworld. And it's something he says he's working on at the end of TSATS, so people shouldn't fault him for it. The entire point of the book was them both having problems & their relationship not being all sunshine & rainbows.

A couple of PJO/HOO headcanons

(but make it color coded)

Leo is a perfectionist, meaning he’ll spend about a month working on one thing, even if it works perfectly, to make it as good as humanly possible

Nico tend to shadow travel behind people, unintentionally (or intentionally if it’s Percy or Jason) scaring them

Jason is (was) extremely Forgetful of common things (Names, fighting moves, Where he put things, etc)

Percy makes amazing baked goods (cookies, pies, bread, etc) but is Terrible at simple foods (sandwiches, pizza, steak, etc)

If piper speaks sarcastically (Telling her friends (mainly Leo) to go jump off cliffs) most of the time it works as charm speak

The only thing Annabeth hates learning about is Dinosaurs, for no reason in particular (it’s just funny to me)

Nico is extremely particular about anything pasta related, criticizing it as though he was a food critic

the rage I feel when reading Blood of Olympus chapters 45-56 is almost equivalent in magnitude to the absolute joy I experience when reading The Last Olympian chapters 1-23.

remember when percabeth was good? when they meant the world to each other but had other people they cared about (nico, for one. both of them. so much), other worries and other storylines aside from their romantic plot? and when nico's completed arc wasn't repeated for no reason other than to dump more trauma on the youngest character in the series? when background characters were included in the story not for all the unnecessary last minute romantic subplots but because they were fun and fascinating to learn more about? and were actually friends with main characters? remember when grover was percy and annabeth's best friend forever? and antagonists were actually interesting and intimidating and had compelling goals? and the story revolved around friendship and family and loyalty? and death was definite and loss was palpable and battles were thrilling?

yeah. good times.

I feel like Nico and Apollo could have serious potential for a fic where Nico is trying to bond with his boyfriend's dad just so they're not awkward and they somehow get on the topic of love gods and they just bond over their hatred for love gods and how they've been screwed over by them.

COTD cover shows something swirling around that's probably just smoke or the Mist but it reminded me that Will with a lasso/whip made out of light for a weapon would perfectly suit him- he definitely has training with a bow and arrow but. He's a medic constantly in the thick of things. He needs to be quick and maneuver easily and not get weighed down, especially while carrying medical equipment or patients. A bow is for distance anyway, he'd never be able to properly utilize it with how close he always is to the fighting; Apollo's signature weapon just wouldn't be practical here.

But something weightless that's equally fast and versatile, that he can summon and dismiss as needed, would be ideal for Will. And Apollo may not use whips, but Helios does (did?)- those and solar rays are both common symbols of his. There's an established precedent.

Actually, Will using a whip/lasso made of light is an old fanon thing! It was coined by Cherryandsisters, alongside their old photokinesis!Will headcanons that became popular fanon (and were eventually incorporated into canon).

You can find some of it on their old askblog, Askwill-solace. (They also popularized trans!Will back in the day.) Their light bending!Will tag on their main blog also has a lot of the old photokinesis hc stuff and some light lasso stuff. A couple of highlights though that feature his whip specifically: [x] [x]

For a lot of folks the appeal of Will using a whip/lasso weapon was a.) Most people did not remember that he canonically uses a bow, since at the time back in like 2014 people were kind of in a scramble to remember anything about Will at all as he very suddenly shot from a background character to being part of a canon protagonist ship. People still don't really remember that fact (including canon, but I digress), since most people don't remember or pay much attention to Will pre-BoO - in large part due to that fanon boom following BoO where people were just kind of throwing everything at the wall for him and seeing what stuck (especially since we didn't originally know TOA was going to happen, so we didn't expect solangelo to actually be canonized and folks were just doing whatever with fanon and hcs for him/solangelo in general - so keeping it based in canon was not any kind of priority). But in general it was some attempt to give him a unique weapon, and b.) people did, and still do, LOOOOOVE cowboy!Will. People LOVE exaggerating the fact that he's from Texas and the old fanon was that he was a little country boy who had a little lasso/whip weapon, because cowboy. Ever since his mom was canonized to be a country singer in TOA that got emphasized even more enthusiastically. That is also part of why he gets depicted with a flannel very frequently.

Wanna hear a really sweet solangelo headcanon?

So, I have a Will headcanon that he’s an adventure time, steven universe, gravity falls, svtfoe, infinity train, the owl house, and basically cartoon fandom bisexual nerd (along with sci fi and detective/ mystery thriller but tht’s besides the point).

One of his first songs he learned on ukulele and guitar are songs from adventure time and steven universe but his fav to play when he’s stressed or “stimming” is the Island Song (or come along with me/ adventure time end credits).

Before they started dating, Nico one day was having a panic/ anxiety attack or was just overstimulated and stressed and spotted Will under a secluded tree or in the strawberry fields (idk) playing the Island Song. He was listening from afar and surprisingly, he felt calmer and at ease.

Now whenever Nico has a nightmare or is overstimulated, Will would sing or hum the Island Song. Sometimes Nico would get lulled to sleep or would quietly sing along with him.

Bonus ramble: Also, Island Song is the easiest song to learn on ukulele and guitar, tht’s why imo, it’s a good “stimming song” and the lyrics is really sweet in this scenario too 😭 like it’s such a simple song yet has a lot of depth to it too, okay I’m done rambling.
