Motorcycle News: More Motorcycle Bans in Europe - Why is your Congress member not on this list?
Down Shift – More of Europe Banned to Motorcycles More of Europe has now barred motorcycles from traveling along public roads. To limit “noise pollution” motorcycles are barred from parts of Pyrenees National Park.  There were no restrictions on cars applied. The year-round ban impacts not just motorcycles but also quads, buggies and mountain bikes. According to what I read this ban on…

Interview with Tina Aumont 2
Modesty Blaise by Joseph Losey was your first film. How did it go? Was it during a casting call that you were selected?
No, it was by chance. I was under contract with FOX to take classes in New York, and I was married to Christian Marquand, a great actor older than me, who had already made a lot of films, and so I was in love. He happened to be filming an Aldrich film in America at the same time in the Colorado desert. I don't know if it was Darryl Zanuck who said to me, "You have to have a career." And so it was he who put me under contract with FOX, renewable every year. From time to time I went to see the filming of "Flight of the Phoenix" by Robert Aldrich with Christian Marquand and Peter Finch, the story of this plane which crashes in the desert and which is reconstructed from another plane.
I had friends in England, and I wanted to see them. It was easy to travel at that time. Aldrich said to me: "If you go to London, go and see my friend Losey, and say hello to him for me." which I did. He was preparing "Modesty Blaise". We had lunch together. Losey asks me, “Do you know how to ride motorcycles?” and I say, “That’s all I’m doing…” and Losey: “well, fine, I’ll take you.” I signed in Amsterdam, ready to shoot on the day of filming… I try the motorbike without having used one, and I hit a wall. So, the scene is done on a bicycle. I watched the film again, there is a very pretty scene, the one where I am killed in a fairground, with a house full of dolls that really exist in Holland. A film shot with the wonderful Monica Vitti.
Is she a friend of yours?
Yes. She's not a close friend. Both Terence Stamp and Monica Vitti are friends that I saw again in the future. And Losey even more, between Paris, Rome and London. He was quite European.
I love what he does in general. And he is a fabulous, generous, intelligent man obviously; a great director. I was very lucky to make my first film with him, and the role was nice. We had to reshoot scenes because the English censors were quite picky at the time. We caught a glimpse of one of my breasts, but that didn't happen. We went back to the studio in London.
Tina interviewed by Antoine Cervero in 2001. Published in January/June 2002 Cine Zine Zone number 134.
Very special thanks to @74paris for sharing this gem.

David Alexander, bass guitarist of the stooges, was born on June 3, 1947
David was born in Whitmore Lake, Michigan, but his family later moved to Ann Arbor. Dave began his studies at Pioneer High School, where he met brothers Ron and Scott Ashton. In 1965, Ron sold the motorcycle, and the friends traveled to England to see The Who and "try to find The Beatles."
After a while, David and the Ashton brothers met Iggy Pop. In 1967, The Stooges, also known as Iggy & The Stooges, was formed under his leadership.
In August 1970, he was fired from the band for appearing at the Goose Lake International Music Festival under the influence of alcohol.

On June 3, 1950, Suzy Quatro was borna baby with a bass guitar.
Suzie Quatro (Susan Kay Quatro, English Susan Kay Quatro), was born on June 3, 1950, in the northern United States, in Detroit, Michigan, in the family of jazz musician Art Quatro, an American of Italian descent, and Hungarian Helen Shanishlai.
It is known that initially Suzy's last name was somewhat different. According to one version, she sounded like Quattrocio, but Suzy's paternal grandfather, who came to the United States in 1901, decided to shorten the surname to "Quatro", for easier and more euphonious pronunciation.
Quatro turned out to be one of the first women in the history of rock to assemble her own band, and from men.
"I became the first successful woman in rock and roll to lead a group of men and play an instrument seriously. It didn't happen before or after me," she said in an interview with the London Express. In the era of glam rock, Quatro "... developed a standard that all women with an electric guitar try to follow to this day," Jane Hall wrote in the Journal.

Doro Pesch, warlock vocalist and famous solo artist, was born on June 3, 1964
The charismatic blonde from Germany, known in the world of heavy rock as Doro Pesch, is considered the unsurpassed goddess of the German metal Olympus! She first rocked the scene in the early 80s, declaring herself as the vocalist of the cult metal band Warlock. Moreover, the disappearance of the famous band from the musical map of the world in no way affected the success of Doro Pesch. The vociferous, charismatic blonde skillfully disposed of her talents. She managed to realize herself in the music business, declaring herself as an amazing vocalist, composer, leader of her own project and just a cult personality in the history of European metal. Doro is one of the thousands of women who have conquered the gates of the hardcore metal community. She brilliantly managed to withstand the aggressive confrontation of a harsh world where only men reigned. Pesch proved to everyone that hard rock can have a female face.

The 2024 Africa Twin: A True Adventure Machine
Tumblr media
Honda's iconic Africa Twin receives significant updates for 2024, enhancing its performance and versatility for adventure riders.
The Africa Twin has long been synonymous with adventure riding, capturing the spirit of exploration and offering riders the confidence to venture further. With the release of the 2024 models, Honda has taken this legendary motorcycle to new heights. The standard Africa Twin and Adventure Sports versions have undergone significant updates, making them more specialized and capable than ever before.
From enhanced off-road performance to improved on-road handling, the Africa Twin lineup offers a wide range of options for riders seeking thrilling adventures on any terrain.
Since its in 1988, the Africa Twin has been a symbol of "True Adventure" in the ADV riding world. Inspired by the NXR750 and NXR800 factory racers that dominated the Dakar Rally in the late 1980s, the Africa Twin created a new market and became a global hit. After a hiatus, the Africa Twin made a triumphant return in 2016 with the CRF1000L, and has since garnered a dedicated following of adventure enthusiasts.
youtube
A Legacy of Adventure
The Africa Twin's history is steeped in adventure and off-road prowess. The original XRV650, introduced in Europe in 1988, was based on the NXR750 and NXR800 racers that conquered the Dakar Rally. It quickly gained popularity and evolved into the XRV750 in 1990, selling over 73,000 units before being discontinued in 2001.
In 2016, Honda revived the Africa Twin with the CRF1000L, offering it in both European and American markets. The following year, the Adventure Sports version joined the lineup, catering to riders seeking a more touring-focused experience. The Africa Twin has since become a staple in the adventure riding community, known for its rugged durability and versatility.
What's New for 2024
The 2024 Africa Twin models receive a host of updates and refinements, enhancing their performance and capabilities. Adventure Sports versions now feature a 19-inch front wheel and shorter suspension travel, optimizing on-road handling and maneuverability. Tubeless tires, previously exclusive to Adventure Sports versions, are now fitted on the standard versions as well, providing convenient repair options without removing the wheel.
The 1,084cc twin-cylinder engine generates stronger power and torque in the low- to mid-rpm range, thanks to a higher compression ratio and updated ECU settings. The Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) has also been improved for smoother engagement at low speeds. Both standard and Adventure Sports versions receive updated electronic settings, a redesigned intake/exhaust layout, and revised styling, making them even more capable and appealing to adventure riders.
Design and Styling
The design of the 2024 Africa Twin models has been refined to enhance their performance and aesthetics. The standard Africa Twin features a slim, compact shape with a redesigned front fairing and rear seat, improving its off-road capabilities. The Adventure Sports versions receive a new front fairing that optimizes aerodynamics and wind protection, as well as a thicker and more comfortable seat.
The Adventure Sports versions also come with a smaller 19-inch front wheel and reduced suspension travel, lowering the bike's center of gravity and improving on-road handling. Both versions maintain the Africa Twin's iconic look while incorporating modern design elements.
Electronic Technology
The 2024 Africa Twin models are equipped with advanced electronic technology to enhance the riding experience. Throttle-by-wire and a six-axis Bosch IMU provide precise control and enable features such as cornering ABS and traction control. The Africa Twin's 6.5-inch TFT LCD touch panel display offers customizable screen arrangements and is compatible with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, allowing riders to connect their smartphones for navigation and communication purposes.
The Adventure Sports versions also feature three-stage cornering lighting for optimal illumination during different types of corners. With these technological advancements, the Africa Twin offers riders a seamless and connected riding experience.
Engine and Drivetrain
All versions of the 2024 Africa Twin are powered by a 1,084cc water-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers strong power and torque. The engine has undergone improvements, including a higher compression ratio, optimized ECU settings, and an updated muffler design. These enhancements result in increased performance and improved driveability across the rev range.
The Africa Twin is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or Honda's innovative Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). The DCT version offers seamless gear changes and can be operated in automatic or manual mode, providing riders with the flexibility to choose their preferred shifting style.
Chassis and Suspension
The Africa Twin's chassis and suspension have been designed to handle a wide range of terrains and riding conditions. The steel semi-double-cradle frame provides optimal rigidity and flexibility for challenging situations, while the aluminum swingarm ensures rigidity and lightness. The standard Africa Twin models feature fully adjustable front and rear suspension, with long-travel Showa forks and a Pro-Link® rear suspension system.
The Adventure Sports versions are equipped with Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (EERA™), which adjusts damping based on bike speed, stance, and fork behavior. This high-tech suspension system allows riders to customize their suspension settings for different riding scenarios, ensuring optimal comfort and performance.
Brakes and Safety Features
The 2024 Africa Twin models are equipped with advanced braking systems and safety features to provide riders with confidence and control. Dual front 310mm petal-style floating rotors and radial-mount four-piston calipers deliver consistent stopping power, while the rear rotor features a petal design for efficient braking. The ABS system is designed to adapt to different riding conditions, with separate modes for on-road and off-road performance.
The system utilizes information from the IMU to detect rear-wheel lift and adjust braking pressure accordingly. Riders can also switch off the rear ABS for more precise off-road braking. Additionally, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) helps optimize acceleration performance by providing smooth slide control and wheelie control.
Accessories and Customization
Honda offers a wide range of accessories for the Africa Twin, allowing riders to customize their motorcycles to suit their preferences and riding style. From aluminum luggage to higher and lower seats, there are options to enhance comfort, storage, and functionality. Honda also offers accessory packs, such as the Rally Pack, Adventure Pack, Urban Pack, and Travel Pack, which provide a combination of accessories tailored to specific riding needs.
Whether riders are looking for added protection, increased storage capacity, or improved touring capabilities, the Africa Twin's accessories allow for endless customization possibilities.
The 2024 Africa Twin lineup represents the pinnacle of adventure riding, combining Honda's rich heritage with cutting-edge technology and performance. With updates and refinements across the board, these motorcycles offer unparalleled versatility and capability on any terrain. Whether riders are tackling off-road trails, exploring remote landscapes, or cruising on scenic highways, the Africa Twin delivers an exhilarating and unforgettable riding experience.
With its legendary status and the latest advancements, the Africa Twin continues to inspire riders to push their boundaries and embark on new adventures.

May 27 𓇢𓆸 Lisbon
I hadn't wanted to, but I slept until noon. When I emerged from my bedroom, Adrian had already worked, eaten, and gone to the grocery store and back. He said it'd been nice knowing I was asleep in the other room while he went about his morning.
We ate yogurt, bread, cheese, ham, and cherries for breakfast.
"So, will you stay another night or go to Porto today?"
"Maybe I'll stay one more night," I smiled.
He told me to put on a jacket, we were getting on the motorcycle. I hadn't been on a bike since my accident and nearly swooned when I felt the freedom of riding again. Plus, isn't it every American girl's dream to ride a European guy's motorcycle? Still, I held on to the straps of his backpack instead of his waist, and he let me though he must have known it was more dangerous.
He dropped me off at the waterfront and went to work. I started a long walk past the red bridge that connects Lisbon to Almada. The marina was a senseless tangle of rope, wood, and pipe, and the sun beat down on me without sympathy. I passed graffiti and ice cream stalls and gangs of men doing indeterminate things. I found a brief companion in a woman walking to Museo do Oriente to receive a certification from her business school. She wore a satin pink blouse that looked like a heat trap. I myself was too hot, so I paid eight euros for a ticket to a museum on the waterfront.
I sat in a giant yarn installation until I cooled down. Then I wandered through the exhibits without focus, stopping once at an installation that magnified the slow drip of water from a pipette. There was no plaque explaining its purpose. I watched the droplets form and fall with a man close by.
"It's beautiful," I giggled to him softly.
I ordered strawberry sorbet on the terrace of the museum cafe and wrote until it was time to meet Adrian. I walked to the main road and waited for ten minutes, then twenty, then thirty. When it'd almost been an hour I returned to the cafe to find wifi. My phone began to buzz with messages from Adrian, who'd been waiting on the other end of the museum the whole time. We met at another cafe nearby and had a laugh about it. He ordered an Aperol spritz while I ordered two more scoops of ice cream from the small refrigerator inside. It was the best ice cream of my life.
We got back on the bike and drove up the coast to a seafood restaurant. We arrived a little tousled—"I'm not sure I've ever experienced a day this windy," Adrian mused.
The restaurant was a step back in time—servers in crisp aprons, old-world table settings, a silver trolly laden with intricate gateaus. Adrian bought us white wine, bread, mild cheese, fish paté, and a pot of seafood stew, and we ate as we watched the sunset over the sea.
I was ready to ask the question that had been on my mind.
"How old are you, Adrian?"
He winced. He knew how old I was, after all.
"Forty-one."
"That must be a nice age," I nodded reassuringly.
The staff lit a candle at our table, and we sat there talking until the flame had whittled it in half. When we left, the maître d' bowed his head and offered me a pink chrysanthemum from a large urn at the door.
"A flower for a flower."
That made me smile. Adrian placed my flower in the boot of his bike and handed me my helmet.
"We're taking the highway back. Prepare yourself."
He pierced the bike through the cold, turbulent wind like we were late for something. The combined pressure was so fierce it pushed my helmet off my head, and I had to let go of my firm grip on Adrian to push it back down.
Maybe this just feels fast because we're on a bike, I thought to myself. One look at the speedometer dispelled that theory.
We arrived back in Lisbon in one piece, but not before I'd started to regret not buying travel insurance.
I showered while Adrian put on a record and rolled a cigarette. He was a music and nicotine addict. I rolled my own spliff when I was clean and we talked some more at the living room windows. He told me he was sad I was leaving. I felt I couldn't do anything about that. But when we said goodnight and I went to my room, I sat behind the door helpless, struck by the feeling that things were unfinished.
I walked back into the living room, but he'd already turned off the lights and gone to his room. I returned to mine. Then I heard him creep out again and light another cigarette at the windows. He had a balcony in his room, so I knew he was doing it on my behalf.
"Adrian?" I called into the dark.
"Yeah?"
"I want to say...thank you. This has been a special time for me. Meeting you...I take it very seriously."
"Me too," he said. "This connection is rare for me. I often find myself wanting to hug you."
"Yeah...about that. I'm in a very good place right now. I don't want to mess with it."
"I understand," he replied. His dark eyes bore into me from the shadows. We sat in silence for a while.
"I guess the cherry on top would be if we slept together tonight—no sex," he suggested.
More silence.
"I guess I could try that."
He walked over, took my hand, and pulled me into a hug. I felt my body freeze over and knew something wasn't right. He began to kiss my neck. I pulled away.
"Actually, I think it's best if I stay in my room tonight. Keep things simple. Maybe if I had more time with you, but I don't."
"Okay," he nodded softly and returned to bed.

The European electric two-wheeler market is expanding due to increasing awareness of environmental issues and the importance of sustainable transportation options. Governments in Europe are enacting regulations and offering incentives like subsidies and tax breaks to promote the use of electric vehicles. Consumers are also becoming more environmentally conscious, opting for greener transportation choices for their daily commute and short trips. This has led to an increase in production of electric scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles to meet the rising demand. Due to improvements in battery technology, electric motorcycles and scooters are now more cost-effective, can travel longer distances, and provide superior performance. This makes them a more appealing choice for individuals seeking a greener and more eco-friendly means of getting around.

Planning a Journey? Suggestions and Tips for Working With a Journey Adviser
Tumblr media
A long time in the past, your trip probably started with a go to to a journey agent, who relied on a mixture of experience and connections to seek out one of the best offers on airplane tickets, resorts, excursions and extra. Since then, the web has turned most of us into our personal journey brokers, and synthetic intelligence software program is making analysis and self-booking even simpler. However for some journeys, that particular insider information can nonetheless make a giant distinction. So when do you have to rent an expert, and the way does all of it work? Listed below are some ideas. Why ought to I think about a journey adviser? It’s straightforward for a traveler to do the analysis for the standard journey, stated Chris Anderson, a professor on the Cornell College College of Resort Administration, “so they need to search for a specialist for the kind of tour they're searching for, say a motorcycle journey in Eire, who can actually add worth.” The insider information supplied by a journey adviser can add essentially the most worth to journeys which have multicity itineraries, contain a large age vary of vacationers, are very vital (like an anniversary trip) or are to locations you're unfamiliar with, stated Gary R. Johnson, who has run the journey company Woodside Travel in Seattle for practically 30 years. An adviser might aid you resolve, as an illustration, by which order to go to European cities based mostly on native occasions and transportation choices. What can an adviser give me {that a} reserving website can’t? Journey advisers might help you analysis one of the best locations, lodging, or actions to your explicit group and journey targets, providing up particular recommendation that may be arduous or time-consuming to seek out your self. These specializing in cruises would possibly know which cabin to decide on in case you are susceptible to seasickness, whereas a safari planner might aid you resolve which park could be finest for bird-watching or seeing particular animals, like rhinos. Journey advisers sometimes have relationships with tour firms, resorts and cruise strains, typically by way of networks. These connections can enable advisers to supply further perks corresponding to late checkout, free breakfast, airport transfers, a welcome basket or a credit score to spend on a cruise ship. “An excellent journey agent might be a greater steward of your journey finances than you're,” stated Man Rubin, managing director of Imperial Tours, which arranges journey in China. When unhealthy climate or different circumstances disrupt your itinerary, journey advisers typically have direct strains of communication with suppliers and may do the work of rebooking and altering plans, saving you time and stress. OK, let’s say I need assistance. How do I discover an adviser? Networks just like the American Society of Travel Advisors and Travel Leaders have web sites that may aid you begin your seek for a journey adviser by answering a number of questions on your required journey. After you have a handful to select from, get on the cellphone with them to speak about what they could do for you, how they cost and the extent of service you possibly can anticipate. Particular journeys can price 1000's of {dollars}, so it’s price investing time up entrance, Mr. Rubin stated. Ensure that to learn over the journey agent’s evaluations and any user-generated social content material that mentions them, Dr. Anderson stated. “If there isn't any exterior validation, that’s a pink flag.” How do advisers receives a commission, and the way a lot will it price me? Advisers obtain fee from suppliers, sometimes 10 to fifteen p.c of the worth, when promoting cruises, lodging and excursions. Additionally they typically cost vacationers a planning payment, from a number of hundred {dollars}, which can be credited to the ultimate invoice if the reserving is accomplished, all the way in which as much as tens of 1000's of {dollars} yearly for a luxurious concierge journey planner they'll name on all yr. Mr. Johnson stated that he expenses a planning payment the primary time he works with prospects. In the event that they return for different journeys, he waives the payment. Advisers could also be tempted to promote you one thing that may earn them a better fee, Dr. Anderson stated. However, he factors out, the identical is true for the big on-line companies, which promote resorts that pay them bigger commissions. Vacationers can ask advisers about particular commissions they obtain or how they're affiliated with the merchandise they're recommending, he stated. Typically an area tour firm will package deal transportation, lodging and experiences for an adviser, who tacks on a share earlier than passing it alongside to a shopper. However a invoice that's not itemized could make it more durable to make trade-offs — between a costlier lodge and a particular expertise, for instance. If pricing transparency is necessary to you, talk about it with the adviser up entrance. How are A.I. and different applied sciences affecting journey advisers? Whereas new applied sciences are permitting do-it-yourselfers to create their very own itineraries on-line based mostly on particular person preferences, and to kind questions immediately into journey web sites, advisers are additionally profiting from these applied sciences to enhance their companies. Joan Roca, chief government of the upscale journey planning firm Essentialist stated his crew “makes use of expertise to boost the human contact,” using synthetic intelligence to decide on choices from a database of journey choices chosen by a human crew. If a pair desires to take an after-dinner stroll, for instance, Essentialist’s app will provide up concepts of the place to go, based mostly on what a part of the town the vacationers are in and conversations they’ve had with their journey adviser. The Amnesiac : ep36
"Europeany"
Sunday
It has been 24 hours since we left the delightful Tillamook cheese factory, and after an uneventful night spent in Astoria (the town made famous by the movie Goonies) we find ourselves riding the gently twisting and exceedingly scenic roads of the Northern Cascades. Route 97 dead-ends at the intersection of Route 2, where we make a left turn and from there it’s only a few miles to Leavenworth. The sky is bright blue and we’re enjoying a beautiful day following the storm.
From the moment we round the bend at the edge of town it’s obvious that this is the Bavarian village we’ve been looking for. Leavenworth is a European themed village with wide variety of fairytale style architecture featuring German style “fachwerk” exposed beams, large overhangs and steeply pitched roofs. It’s hard to believe we’re still in America. If Snow White and her Seven Dwarves stopped traffic in the crosswalk, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least. There are hotels everywhere, each with their own Bavarian themed name. Icicle Village Resort, Der Ritterhof Inn, The Bavarian Lodge … you get the idea. We make a couple of passes along the main road until River points to one of the hotels. I can hear her yelling into my helmet “That’s the most Europeany!” Most Europeany? I haven’t seen that word in the adjective dictionary yet, but who cares? It’s in the middle of town so we’ll see if we can find lodging there.
Fortunately there are rooms available, they’re reasonably price, so we unload the panniers from the Ducati and get settled in. Greg LeMond once said of bicycling “It never gets easier you just get faster.” The same is essentially true of motorcycling. We’ve traveled well over 1000 miles in the past few days and by the time I collapse onto the bed in the hotel, I feel like a chain-gang inmate who has just been flogged for disobedience. We both struggle but succeed in kicking off our boots. River slumps into the chair and without a word we mutually agree to stay here and chill until our bodies acclimatize back to non-motorcycle normal.
River dozes off to sleep for about two seconds then snorts herself awake. We have a good laugh about it and that motivates us to begin the quest for dinner. With jeans and flip-flops on, we descend the stairs to the lobby. River asks the gal at the front desk for a dinner recommendation in the “most Enropeany” part of town and she points out the window. “Across the highway to Front Street. More food than y’all can shake a stick at, and it’s all pretty darn Europeany” she tells us.
River has my drawing, the one with her behind the Leica camera on one side and the Bavarian village on the other, rolled up and in hand. She wants to find the exact location where the drawing was made before the sun sets. Since Leavenworth is only a few city blocks long and a couple of city blocks deep, it should be a pretty doable task.
Front Street is indeed “Europeany.” It’s a cute little downtown area with touristy shops and plenty of germanic dining options. The idea of finding some good schnitzel, or better yet an authentic currywurst washed down with a Löwenbräu has my mouth absolutely watering. But first we are determined to find “the spot” depicted in my drawing. We walk the few blocks to the north end of the street, enjoying looking in the shop windows for souvenirs small enough to carry home on a motorcycle and perusing the menus of the eateries for something authentic. But we don’t immediately find the location from the picture so River pulls out the drawing to give it a closer examination. She decides that we’ll have better luck at the south end of Front Street so we turn around and walk all the way to the south end of town without finding the exact spot. But at the south end of town, when we turn back north again, we see it. There’s an intersection with the exact type of bierhaus architecture we’re looking for. We walk to the intersection and River holds up the drawing. From the middle of the intersection, it’s a perfect match.
I close my eyes and the crippling pain of the memory recall comes flooding back. River takes my hand to share her energy with me and the pain subsides. “I’m not here” I tell her. “I’m flying through space. Through the cosmos. Stars and planets are whizzing past the window of my spaceship. There’s a rainbow of galaxies and nebula, sometimes smashing against the window and exploding into colorful stardust. It’s the most bizarre thing, like I died and I’m riding to heaven on my Ducati.”
I open my eyes and return to the now. I’m no closer to solving this mystery. There’s a park bench in the greenbelt just across the street, so we sit there while the sun sets to understand what the hell we’re doing here.
“Okay River, let recap. I left home alone on my motorcycle heading for a nice relaxing Pacific Northwest motorcycle vacation and somehow ended up in Fern Canyon, and that is where your spirit first catches up to me. Then clearly I visited Paul Bunyan and you were on my mind there, and at Thor’s Well too. The barista in Tillamook claims to have seen you there, so your spiritual presence was becoming strong enough to manifest to multiple people at the same time. That led us here where my visions change from your bodily manifestation to a celestial manifestation, as I see the universe without form or time, just color and movement. If we follow that same path with the drawings, it only leaves one drawing left…”
“Me in the tulips.”
“Correct. So what does that mean?”
“I have no idea. Okay, let me suss this out for a minute. A few days ago we were having lunch at that weird little Indian casino in Klamath and I think that was the first moment when we realized that there’s a cosmic connection between us. The barista in Tillamook confirmed this and the cosmic vision you had just a minute ago confirms this. Which makes me think that maybe my spirit wasn’t following you here, maybe it was guiding you here!”
“But why?”
“That’s the real question isn’t it, but the only thing I can think is that the universe NEEDS us to be together for some reason.”
“Like The Terminator? We’ll make a baby and name him John Connor and our spawn will go on to save the world from artificial intelligence or something?”
“Ha! Maybe! Or maybe we’ll have a girl and she’ll be the first President of the United States or something.”
“Or maybe us just falling in love is good enough for the universe, and we’re here in the fairytale village to begin our fairytale love story?”
River is completely titillated by the prospect of our relationship being true love and leans in for a passionate and loving kiss. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. It’s the beginning of us acknowledging that from this day forward our two shall be one, and some day, our one will be three or four. I want badly to get on my knee to propose, but it would honestly just ruin the moment. The cosmic connection we’re feeling right now is far more powerful than any human construct called marriage could even begin to understand.

2024 Honda NX500
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honda’s A2-compatible mini-adventurer gets a new name – and even more rugged style – for 24YM. Power and torque remain the same for the 471cc engine – at 35kW and 43Nm – while an ECU update improves acceleration feel and Honda Selectable Torque Control is now standard. New wheels save 1.5kg of unsprung weight, adding to an overall weight loss of 3kg, and are matched by revised settings for the 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD forks and rear shock. Dual discs up front are worked by two piston calipers. A brand-new LED headlight opens up better visibility at night while a new 5-inch TFT screen offers Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, operated by a simplified and backlit 4-way toggle switch.
Tumblr media
- Introduction The CB500X, originally launched in 2013 alongside the naked CB500F (now CB500 Hornet) and fully faired CBR500R, injected crossover adventure style to Honda’s fun-focussed twin-cylinder ‘light middleweight’ trio. Right from the start it was a motorcycle that, without fanfare, quietly got on with the job of being supremely competent and adaptable for a wide variety of owners. The usefulness was down to a straightforward equation – a perky, well-regarded twin-cylinder engine which produced real torque and drive from low rpm while revving hard up top – plus a chassis that gave a supremely comfortable ride both around town and out on the open highway, all wrapped up in distinctive adventure styling. It slipped between the role of short-hop commuter to weekend tourer effortlessly. Long travel suspension ironed out irregular road surfaces, wide handlebars provided leverage, and the upright riding position offered both comfort and a wide field of view for the rider. In 2016 a first upgrade brought with it a larger fuel tank, more wind protection and taller screen, as well as LED lighting, spring preload-adjustable front forks and adjustable brake lever. The 19YM evolution delivered more sophisticated adventure style, more engine performance and a number of chassis upgrades. 22YM saw the addition of high-quality Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks, dual front discs, lightweight swingarm and redesigned front wheel. For 24YM Honda’s equation for this bike is improving, but not changing in its essence. The name is new, however. The NX500 is carving out its own identity, with aggressively redesigned styling, premium technology and a variety of detail upgrades that are sure to continue its journey into the hearts and minds of European riders.
Tumblr media
- Model Overview The letters NX have quite a history with Honda and the single-cylinder NX650 Dominator – which debuted in the late 1980s with unique mix of road and off-road style – is fondly remembered across Europe. NX means ‘New X-over’ which is exactly what the new NX500 is. Fun on a winding road, fun on a gravel trail and ready to go the distance, its all-round credentials are reinforced with an impressive update to its adventure styling. The wheels too are lighter, and the suspension settings front and rear have been upgraded to improve ride quality. The A2-compliant, slipper clutch-equipped twin-cylinder engine benefits from the addition of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as well as ECU updates to improve acceleration. The 24YM NX500 will be available in the following colour options: Grand Prix Red Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic Pearl Horizon White
Tumblr media
- Key Features 3.1 Styling & Equipment - Sharp new adventure style incorporates aerodynamics to improve stability at speed - New LED headlight and taillight - New 5-inch full colour TFT screen includes Honda RoadSync connectivity for on-screen turn-by-turn navigation and access to other smartphone functions - New, simplified left hand switchgear easy to use and backlit for night-time Directed by the design theme of ‘Daily Crossover’, wherever it goes – city block, winding road, highway or gravel trail – the NX500 looks the part, wearing new style that mixes compact adventure-style usability with an imposing silhouette and solidity of form A new LED headlight design maintains beam penetration but throws out wider light distribution for increased visibility when riding – and cornering – at night. It’s matched to a new LED taillight. All other lighting is also LED. Premium technology – in the form of a brand new, 5-inch full colour TFT screen inherited from the XL750 Transalp – uses optical bonding to improve visibility in bright sunlight, a first for a Honda motorcycle. By sealing the gap between the cover glass and TFT screen with resin glare is reduced, and backlight transmittance improved. It’s customisable between Bar, Circle and Simple display patterns and also offers the IOS/Android smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync. This new feature – alongside a simplified, easy-to-use, backlit 4-way toggle-switch on the left handlebar – allows straightforward, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation as well as the option (via a Bluetooth helmet headset) for the rider to make calls or listen to music. All an owner has to do is download the Honda RoadSync app from the Play Store or the App Store, connect to the NX500, and go. A slim seat profile allows for free movement around the machine and aids easy ground reach and, to help manoeuvrability, the steering angle is 38° from centred to full lock. Gunmetal grey tapered steel handlebar elevate control further still. Seat height is 830mm and the upright riding position is very accommodating, while providing excellent visibility. Overall dimensions are 2,165mm x 830mm x 1,415mm, with 180mm ground clearance. The fuel tank holds 17.5L including reserve, and, combined with the engine’s excellent fuel economy of 3.6L/100km (27.8km/l) (WMTC mode), gives a range of over 480km.
Tumblr media
3.2 Chassis - 41mm Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks and rear shock feature fine-tuned settings - New, lighter weight wheels - Dual 296mm discs, Nissin axial mount two piston calipers Light, strong and unchanged for 24YM, the 35mm diameter steel diamond-tube mainframe has a tuned degree of yield that gives plenty of feedback to the rider as road surfaces change. The shape and position of the engine mounts, plus the frame’s rigidity balance, keep vibration to a minimum. Wheelbase is 1,445mm with rake and trail of 27.5°/108mm and front/rear bias percentage of 48.7/51.3. Kerb weight is 196kg – 3kg lighter than the CB500X. Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks divide the functions – Big Piston pressure separation damper in one leg, spring mechanism in the other – and reaction and ride quality are top draw. They feature 135mm axle travel (150mm cushion stroke) and have new spring rate and damping settings to improve reaction and feel for both road and off-road riding. The single-tube shock absorber, with 135mm axle travel (60mm cushion stroke) has new settings to match the front and its large-diameter piston ensures excellent temperature management; it offers 5-stage preload adjustment. Constructed from 2mm steel, the swingarm employs a hollow cross member – it is stiff rotationally and flexible laterally to improve handling. Completely new are the cast aluminium wheels. Going from a conventional Y-shaped 7-spoke design to Y-shaped 5-spokes saves 800g front and 700g rear. This reduction of unsprung weight works with the revised suspension settings to improve handling and feel in all situations. The 19-inch front is matched to a 17-inch rear; trail-pattern tyres are sized 110/80-R19 and 160/60-R17. Dual 296mm front discs are worked by Nissin axial mount, two-piston calipers; the rear 240mm disc a single-piston caliper.
Tumblr media
3.3 Engine - Lively twin-cylinder powerplant now equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) - New PGM-FI settings improve low-rpm acceleration and power delivery across the rev-range - Assist/slipper clutch eases upshifts and manages rear wheel through downshifts The A2-licence friendly 471cc, 8-valve liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder layout offers a well-proportioned balance of physical size and willing, enjoyable power output, with an energetic, high-revving character and zappy top end. And it's very much an engine whose overall performance and character belie its relatively small capacity; peak power of 35kW arrives at 8,600rpm, with 43Nm torque delivered at 6,500rpm. A 24YM addition is HSTC to manage rear wheel traction for increased peace of mind and a real boost for rider confidence. The system compares front and rear wheel speeds to detect rear slip and controls the fuel injection to smoothly reduce torque. HSTC can also be turned off completely if the rider wishes. Feeding the PGM-FI fuel injection is a more-or-less straight shot of airflow through the airbox and throttle bodies. Optimisation of ignition timing and air/fuel ratio equals more powerful acceleration feel from low rpm, with linear power delivery and throttle feel. The exhaust muffler features dual exit pipes, giving a sporting edge to each pulse, and a rasping high-rpm howl. Bore and stroke are set at 67mm x 66.8mm and compression ratio is 10.7:1; the crankshaft pins are phased at 180° and a primary couple-balancer sits behind the cylinders, close to the bike’s centre of gravity. The primary and balancer gears use scissor gears, reducing noise. The crank counterweight is specifically shaped for couple-balance and its light weight allows the engine to spin freely, with reduced inertia. Acting as a stressed member, the engine complements the frame’s rigidity with four frame hangers. Internally the cylinder head uses roller rocker arms; shim-type valve adjustment allows them to be light, for lower valve-spring load and reduced friction. A silent (SV Chain) cam chain has the surface of its pins treated with Vanadium, reducing friction with increased protection against wear. Inlet valve diameter is 26.0mm with exhaust valve diameter of 21.5mm. Piston shape is carefully designed to reduce piston ‘noise’ at high rpm. Friction is reduced by striations on the piston skirt (a finish that increases surface area, introducing gaps in which oil can flow for better lubrication). The ‘triangle’ proportion of crankshaft, main shaft and countershaft is efficiently compact and the crankcases employ centrifugally cast thin-walled sleeves; their internal design reduces the ‘pumping’ losses that can occur with a 180° phased firing order. A deep sump reduces oil movement under hard cornering and braking; oil capacity is 3.2L. A slick-changing six-speed gearbox is managed by an assist/slipper clutch, eliminating rear wheel ‘hop’ under hard braking and downshifting.
Tumblr media
- Accessories A range of Genuine Honda Accessories designed in parallel with the motorcycle for perfect cohesion are available for the NX500, as individual innovative parts that complement the unit or grouped in packs, and ready to bolt straight on with an official Honda guarantee: Adventure Pack For the rigours of the open road, the Adventure Pack enhances the off-roader appearance while adding extra comfort and protection. Fog Lights improve visibility in poor weather conditions and are mounted on top of the Front Side Pipes, finished in black, which help to protect the motorcycle. The Knuckle Guards protect the hands from the cold and flying debris, while the Smoked Screen and Wheel Stripes add style. A Tank Pad shields paint from zip damage. Travel Pack A set of dual 16.5L semi-rigid plastic panniers with an easy attachment system combine with a Rear Seat Bag with up to 22L of capacity make traveling easier. Urban Pack For daily riding in and out of town this is the perfect setup; a 38L Top Box offers plenty of storage space and comes complete with Pillion Backrest and handy Inner Bag. All the accessories featured in packs can also be purchased individually.

In either case, it’s wonderful staying a creator these days as the technologies obtainable is so Innovative and provides you the liberty to become as Imaginative as you can. And that’s what actually matters – not what gear you’re utilizing.
So, start with something basic or perhaps a camera you’re cozy employing and as you development and when you choose you should upgrade, then get it done then.
My favorite camera is my 4 12 months previous DJI Osmo motion digital camera – and I prefer that to any GoPro. I think it’s however the top action cam out there. But, as outlined in advance of, they’re all adequate to movie vlogs and it doesn’t seriously issue which brand you select.

Process of Towing a Car Plano
It’s not a nice topic, but sometimes it has to be: if you break down with a car, you usually can’t avoid towing it. The simplest solution is of course to use the services of a professional company or an automobile club. However, this is also the most expensive way of Towing a Car Plano.
If the broken-down car is to be towed on your own, the main thing is to observe the legal regulations so that the puncture damage is not accompanied by a hefty penalty.
Process of Towing a Car Plano
Towing a car is generally only allowed in real emergency situations, if it cannot be repaired on site. An electronic defect or a burst cooler represents such a situation, but an empty tank is not. If the vehicle is still registered and insured, it can also be towed away privately on its last walk to the junkyard. The following are the most important rules and tips for a safe towing process:
Secure the Breakdown Location
First secure the location of the breakdown. Switch on the hazard warning lights and set up the warning triangle correctly and clearly visible. A distance of 200 to 400 meters applies here on motorways, 200 meters on country roads and 50 meters in localities. Wear a reflective vest. Cars that show severe damage from an accident must be towed by a service. Make sure that the pulling force of the towing vehicle is sufficient for the towing vehicle.
Look at the Manual
Then you should take a look at the owner’s manual for your vehicle. Cars with automatic transmissions and hybrid vehicles are usually only allowed to be towed over short distances and at very limited speeds. Towing motorcycles, including those with sidecars, is strictly forbidden. It is also forbidden to tow vehicles that are still roadworthy.
Use Safer Method
If you have the option of towing the car with a bar rather than a rope, this is the safer method you should use. The rigid connection prevents a possible rear-end collision if the pulling vehicle brakes suddenly. Only use the eyelets or hooks provided for fastening the rod or rope. If these are not available, consult the operating instructions for your vehicle.
Incidentally, ropes are only permitted up to a weight of four tons. Anything beyond that has to be towed away with a pole. The maximum length of a rope may be eight meters and that of a rod five meters. If you have a rope, make sure that the loops are sewn.
Select Position
Take the gear out of the broken down vehicle. For automatic transmissions, select the “N” position. Note that automatic vehicles should only be towed a few kilometers. The considerable heat development in the gearbox can cause serious damage. The same applies to electric cars, in which energy is generated via an axle. If it flows into the battery and otherwise no electricity is used, the energy storage device can catch fire in extreme cases.
Limit the Speed
The maximum speed is not more than 40-50 km / h, even on the motorway. If the traffic is very heavy, consider hiring a company. Incidentally, the maximum speed applies in most European countries. If you are traveling, you should inquire about the legal regulations in advance. You are not allowed to towing a car Plano privately at all. A violation there is penalized with very high fines.
Warning Sign
The warning triangle must be clearly visible at the rear of the vehicle to be towed. On motorways and roads, you must also switch on the hazard warning lights on both vehicles. Use the normal lane on motorways. You may only use the hard shoulder to accelerate or when the next exit is within sight.
Choose Shortest Path
If you get stranded on the motorway, you can tow your car to the next rest stop or the next exit. Under no circumstances you are allowed to drive onto a motorway. Overall, you have to choose the shortest route to the nearest workshop.
Check the Vehicle Condition
The towed vehicle must be roadworthy overall. If the car has loose parts that could fall when being towed, you need to hire a professional. The same applies if the brakes, the steering, the tires, the lighting or the hazard warning lights are defective. The light must be switched on if necessary.
Put the ignition key in the lock and put it in the “ignition” position. Otherwise the steering wheel lock will jam and you will have real problems. If your car has the so-called keyless entry, be sure to read the operating instructions beforehand.
Avoid Collision
The towing vehicle should be driven without braking as much as possible in order to avoid a collision. Make sure that the breakdown vehicle does not break the towing vehicle in order to avoid excessive stress on the brakes. If the engine on the broken down vehicle is intact, let it run. As a result, the power assistance for brakes and steering remains in operation and the car is easier to steer.
Use Experienced Drivers
Take special care at traffic lights, intersections and roundabouts. Agree on a communication signal, for example “stop” twice. Both vehicles should be driven by experienced drivers. Remember that you have to indicate changes in direction by hand, as the hazard warning lights are permanently switched on. Novice drivers can quickly run into problems.
If you follow this advice, your towing should be safe.
