I wanna take a moment to give my appreciation to the detective conan fanfic author's who made these crossover exist-

Seeing them interact is just HILARIOUS, coupled with the fact Conan's world turned completely upside down (like how da heck did he get there and why was Sherlock there) and now have to try and deal with it without getting too confused-

Then there's the rivalry between the two, with Sherlock probably trying to figure out more about Conan and Conan trying very hard to hide his identity

Lol funny how the two have a thing with "dead" things- Only difference is Conan doesn't even mind it too much anymore but everyone else around him that are new to his (curse-) unusually high corpse encounter would probably be very disturbed and maybe even traumatized- (honestly I pray for their mental health and sanity because BOI do Conan have a bunch of stuff in store for them XD)

Lol just the thought of how much Conan actually lies (literally he opens his mouth and just let out a stream of LIES- (especially when he's involved in a case-)) and the fact that Phoenix have an item that can tell if someone is lying about something is just- 👌✨

I like to think that the way Phoenix view Conan most of the time is that he's always surrounded by a bunch of chains and psyche-locks lol

Then there's the fact that Conan could probably beat anyone in a deduction game from that universe (he's just that superior- I don't make the rules) In fact he could probably solve it faster than Phoenix can say 'Objection!'

And so enjoy these few lines of dialogue I thought when thinking about the possibilities of this crossover;

Phoenix trying to make a feeble attempt of a deduction: W-well... I...

Conan 'Sherlock bloody Holmes' edogawa: I'm able to tell from this small detail you've missed that your deduction is completely wrong!

Phoenix: HOW DA HECK IS A KID THIS GOOD AT DEDUCTING THINGS AND MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE FOOL?!? WHO DA FUK DOES HE THINK HE IS??? SHERLOCK HOLMES???!??!!!

Conan: *internally freaking out and trying hard not to blush at the comment and keep a straight face*

Phoenix after getting outsmarted by Conan again for millionth time: *hoarsely* He's a monster...

Edgeworth: Pffft- Wright this is a child we're talking about, maybe you're just too incompetent-

Edgeworth also getting wrecked by Conan deduction later: ...Wright there's something wrong with this child- HOW DO THEY KNOW SO MUCH MORE THAN US?!?? IT'S AS IF THE KID HAVE WAY MORE EXPERIENCE THAN US ADULTS WHO GRADUATED LAW SCHOOL!!! SERIOUSLY, WHO AND WHERE DID THIS SASSY LOST CHILD CAME FROM?!?

Phoenix: I tried to warn you man...

How the two have an affinity to attract cases wherever they go;

Phoenix: Man, kinda weird that cases just appears where ever I go sometimes-

Conan: Oh, you too? Sure hope it's not as bad as mine then...

Phoenix: Wait- what do you mean you-?

Conan: Cases pop up in almost everyday in the week for me so I've seen quite the mass of corpses-

Phoenix: I'm sorry, you've seen WHAT-?!?

Lol just the idea that Conan would soon be known as the little lying menace of a gremlin that he is, would be pretty hilarious- XD

What I love most about all of them is the chaotic mess that is Conan's life/identity/personality clashing with other protagonist who is equally just as chaotic in a few different ways-

Possibly unpopular opinion: I think Shinichi shouldn't've gone to the Kyoto trip, instead claiming an injury (sprained ankle or something like that), that would have rendered him unable to come. And THEN his absence on the trip being the reason for the media-hubbub caused by the same blogger. Like... the whole thing was kinda OOC for him in the first place, considering he lives in the shadows now (ignore me. currently headcanoning hard on MC/DC, 'cuz procrastinating on my responsiblities)

Well, I’ll try to be brief on my answer: Do I think Shinichi messed up? Of course, I mean, he ended up all over the news and the internet, there’s no excuse for that. Maybe going wasn’t the smartest idea he had, but up until the point the murder happened and he had to step up and help solve the case he had been just fine, no one seemed to notice him and no one took pictures of him before that. It was the case that ultimately made it impossible for him to hide, and there was no way he could’ve predicted a murder happening during the trip (joke all you want about him being a corpse magnet, but IN-universe he obviously can’t know if something bad’s gonna happen). So yeah, again, maybe it wasn’t the best thing for him if you think about the BO after him. 

Now… you think it was OOC for him to do that? I can’t agree with you on that. Let’s remember that Shinichi has taken as many antidotes as he was allowed to. He never declined one in order to “live in the shadows” as you say. Every time Haibara offered one he took it (and he even asks for more). Every time he becomes Shinichi he does try to lay low… at first. 

Take desperate revival for example. Haibara gave him an antidote, the plan was to JUST talk to Ran face to face so that she saw Shinichi and Conan were not the same person. But then a murder happened (sounds familiar?), and he went and solved it in front of everyone (familiar again?). Sure, Heiji asked everyone to NOT talk about Shinichi being there after everything was done, but the same thing happened in Kyoto, right? Shinichi also again asked everyone to NOT talk about him being there after everything was done. It was just that this time someone was faster than him and took a picture and posted it before he even realized it. 

It’s not OOC for him to want to go back to his body. It’s not OOC for him to want to have fun and go back to his friends and his girlfriend even if it’s just for a short while. Shinichi, as I said, has begged multiple times to get antidotes for no tactical reason (as opposed to Desperate revival’s appearance that had a plan behind it), it was just him wanting to be himself for a little while, the difference is that nothing went wrong because he didn’t get them given that Haibara wouldn`t give them to him. But this time he fought for it, he was a friend to Haibara and she appreciated it so much she gave in, but with conditions. Conditions that were ALSO given to him in Desperate revival and conditions that were ALSO broken. Stay low, don’t bring to much attention to yourself. In DR he stopped listening the moment a case popped up and took off his helmet in front of everyone to solve it. In Kyoto it was when a case popped up and he decided to solve it too. 

What he did was nothing out of character. He did the exact same thing multiple times in the past. It was just the blogger the reason he screwed up so bad.

Of course Takagi immediately freaks out against because THIS IS A GODDAMN TEENAGER!!! Like, everyone in the department has had suspicions about whether KID was the original or not but right here is irrefutable proof that this Kaitou KID is a teenager who is actively fighting against a corrupt witch (who may not actually know what the laws are??? I mean we never saw Akako's parents so who's to say she wasn't raised by her demon butler and never even met another magical being and just knows that her family is particularly skilled at love magic she's a teenager too afterall) and has people trying to kill him on the daily!

Also I think it would be really gummy if eventually the entire department sorta adopts KID as a mascot of sorts because just like how Conan is a corpse magnet apparently KID is WEIRD CRIME MAGNET and like Akako is just the beginning of KID's exploration in magical crime. Never mind that he is a criminal himself he just ends up involved in every weird magical crime Takagi and Sato come across!

I wish you would write an AU where Takagi can read peoples thoughts(could simply be words or abstract pictures) when he makes direct contact with them, which leads to him finding out about Conan. And if not that, an AU where there is a secret supernatural department in the police force, (Sato is possibly a member) and Takagi somehow ends up there. i am thinking a lot about him lately.

The first one got merit but I do like the fact Takagi is just your average guy? He’s nothing exceptional and I love him for that, so I’ll go with the second one.

The classic “I accidentally witnessed something and now I feel like I’m way above my paygrade (but at least they got better coffee)”.

Setting would be urban fantasy, there is the whole secret fantasy society with faes, ghosts, wizards and whatnots existing parallel to us, but hard work makes it a secret for most people. There is a special affiliation in the police to regulate those cases, they have like a really common name and officially do regular police work, but unofficially their cases are 90% fantasy stuff. Um I guess the members are spread through the police work, but the cases assigned to them are generally surnatural stuff, if that makes sense?

The squad from Wild Police (so Date Wataru, Hiromitsu, Rei, Matsuda and Hagiwara) were all part of that surnatural department. Sato too.

I’ll go the comedy route and, either Date Wataru honestly thought Takagi was part of that secret department too, and like they never openly spoke about it in public because ~secrecy~ but Date would make allusions and Takagi would just roll with it even though he’s mostly confused about what does it means? Or he just assume it’s some kind of slang/specific police language and roll with it. He didn’t receive the handbook but, that’s fine, he can learn on the job!

Other option is, since they share a name (Wataru), at some point some document got mixed or someone grabbed the wrong Wataru and Takagi got no clue what’s happening but it’s fine!! He’ll do his best!!

And after that no one cleared the mistake and just assumed he was part of their group.

And so he regularly got dragged dealing with surnatural stuff, except most of the problems aren’t obviously surnatural, it would be like reprimand about keeping their existance/identity secret (which, Takagi didn’t know he was assigned to those kind of witness protection case, but he’s not gonna spill), or property damage (which is rookie job but, he is a rookie) and other shenanigans that, if you squint hard enough, isn’t surnatural, nope nope. (He is deep in denial at first).

At some point they decides he’s doing a good enough job and he got assigned as Sato’s partner. And they start getting involved in bigger/more important job. Which includes fighting/capturing surnatural troublemaker.

And Takagi’s denial can’t hold as well. Because. What the fuck is that, Sato??

And Sato is just like, that’s just a wizard, didn’t you read the handbook/learnt that in school??

And then Sato has to make him go through a crash course of Surnatural 101 because no one told him anything and he honestly thought it was regular police work, honest.
