Maybe it's up to interpretation or the point of it was obvious but I found that the message behind the bagel and what it ended up becoming to me made me arrive at a mature idea. For me at first I thought that Joy wanted to disappear and be seperated from her mother, and that she wanted her mother to join her in that eternal feeling of nothingness to stop the pain, but I realised that the bagel represented more than just Joy's pain; she wanted her mother to experience exactly what she felt.

I came to this conclusion because of my own experience with my mother and how much she has hurt me, I want her to feel the same the exact same pain that I have felt. And that's the thing about having a mother or a parent that has hurt you; you care for them and try to find them, seeking them and searching for this validation and care that they once gave you, but at the same time you look at them with such a gnawing and stinging feeling. Joy searched for her mother and wanter to show her the bagel, wanted to show her the confusing amalgamation of emotions she had felt and how she made her feel all her life. It's why she put so much onto it, so many things, but the biggest thing was her pain. She wanted payback, and revenge.

And then, Evelyn eventually felt some of that pain, though it wasn't all of it. But even if it was just for a fraction of a second, by the end, she still understood. Even if she didn't feel her pain, she still accepted Joy's pain and her wishes, her worldview and her cynicism, and understood that she had to cherish it. She needed to understand that she was hurting so much and for so long, then eventually she did, and that's all she needed to know.

And that was a big takeaway for me in regards to how Joy felt and how I feel about my experiences.

I remember making a post about how Alex uses people as his personal coat rack sometimes so how would Evelyn look like with Alex's stuff on and how would she feel about it

Personally I believe that anyone who gets his clothing placed on them get possessed to act just like him temporarily (this is a joke, and kind of a reference to a tumblr post I can't explain and just hope you get)

But seriously I think she'd find it as a strange tradition but one she'd go along with. And probably try and keep his clothes as souvenirs as well.
