Konjiki No Moji Tsukai - Yuusha Yonin Ni Makikomareta Unique Cheat

Or: The Unique Cheat of The Man Dragged In By The Four Heroes

Genre: Fantasy isekai

Summary/plot: The MC was isekaied along with 4 other classmates. Unlike the others who had the title of “Hero”, the MC got the title “Innocent Bystander”. Even though he had the option to still travel with the others, the MC turned it down. Instead he sets out on his own with the help of his special Word Magic. Despite his poor attitude, he is still able to make acquaintances. Particularly with little girls, much to his chagrin. As he continues his journey a deeper conflict become apparent, that our MC finds himself pulled into.

Art Style: It’s pretty typical. Not bad, it’s actually quite good. It’s just that for well drawn manga, it doesn’t have any special style to set it apart in my opinion. People are nice, monsters are nice, and the environment is nice too.

Personal thoughts: The main thing that sets this manga apart from other isekai is the MC’s personality and view on the world. To be frank, he’s kind of a dick. The thing he wants to do most is read books, and he won’t help people unless he gets something out of it. That being said he does still seem to be a good person who wants to help others, it’s just blocked by an outer selfish layer. Like someone will ask for help from him and instead of just saying no and leaving he’ll ask for something and often just accept whatever is offered. Even if it seems disproportionate to what he is giving/doing in exchange. Otherwise pretty typical isekai stuff happens. Overpowered MC, evil organizations, humans are the baddies trope, the “actual hero” group fairs poorly trope, Beastfolk, demons, the works. I do think it has a good plot. There is a lot of “there is a problem and the MC just happens about and solves it” going on. I get the feel that the story is less about the MC and more about the events of the world. The MC is just there resolving the plot point of the arc.

The MC’s special magic is word magic. Basically he can write a word and the thing he writes happens. Of coarse being Japanese the one word is actually one Kanji. So he can write fire and a fire will start, or he can write heal and be healed. He eventually is able to advance it, writing more than one Kanji at a time (there is a good explanation of him power in chapter 16). And yes he can use words that make it completely broken. I’m not sure what the kickback on using more powerful words is other than MP drain, but it doesn’t seem to hurt him much.

The MC doesn’t stick with the same people throughout the manga. He leaves his first group after a good deal of chapters and ends up finding new people. He does reunite with them later so it’s not like they leave and you never see them again.

Characters:

Hiiro: Our MC, he is a not so trusting selfish asshole with a heart of gold, or maybe silver. I already gave some description of him above. As I said before he is mostly conserved with books and reading. Pretty fitting with his word magic. He does seem to want to help people in need, he is just nonchalant about it. Despite how poorly he treats others, he always seems to win them over after they get to know him and see past the cold outer shell that he never really drops. There are a lot of jokes that are him being indifferent with the people he is with despite them being courteous to him. An example is the others waiting for him to rest up and get some shut eye, while later when one of the others are tired just says they can wait there and he’ll just keep going. He also happens to have the ability to unwillingly attract lolis. They just like him for some reason. He even gets a title for it, “beloved by lolis” or something like that.

Arnold: A boisterous adventure and cook. He is an adult who is looking after Muir, a little girl. He plays the strait man and the one who gets picked on for a lot of the jokes, with the other side being Hiiro. He is otherwise a pretty levelheaded, responsible, and strong person. He also seems to adore little girls.

Muir: She is a loli beast girl. Her personality is pretty typical of “innocent loli”. She becomes fond of Hiiro for some reason. I mean sure he more or less nice to her but he’s still an ass. She has an “I want to get the power to help others” character development.

Wi: She is a girl that joins in a bit later in chapter 11. She is an air head. It’s like she was raised with very minimal social interaction. Not too good with communicating. She is looking for her dad who is a beastkin. She herself is a half breed of beastkin and human. She is also quite strong and can hold her own in a fight.

As I said before Hiiro does leave these guys at a point but for the first chunk of the manga these are the main people.

Other Info: As of 12/15/23 there are 102 chapters. They will take time to get through. You’ll also have to look at the boarders to find the translations of Hiiro’s work magic. It gets updated about once every 2 months or so. Once you get caught up you’ll probably be waiting around a bit for the next chapter.

All in all: I like this one. I can’t say I’m excited for every new chapter, but the plot is good enough that I come back. If the MC’s personality is something you don’t mind, you’ll probably enjoy it.
