Fi-Sonic - FUZZ BLENDER
"Basically an FZ-1, but with 9v power instead of 3v. There are a few additional value changes, but otherwise it appears to be an FZ-1."
"home-grown Aussie 'Fuzz Blender' also to come out of Phil Dreoni's workshop in Marrickville, Sydney, where Fi-Sonics were all handmade."

Rewatch Rambles (tm)
Season 1
In the Shadows of Mystacor
aka the gaslighting episode!!!!!!
If you saw me skip System Failure no u didn’t. (Sorry it’s like one of the only episodes that I just can’t stand on rewatches, corrupted Adora is only funny on White Out bc she basically becomes a drunk dork)
Tumblr media
Pleek, Bow looks so in love with Glimmer, I can't take it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Bow and Glimmer react in a bit of an exasperated way to Adora's "paranoia" (in air-quotes bc as much as Adora is hyper-vigilant in an unhealthy manner, her paranoia is correct here. These feelings were probably always warranted in the FZ, which fed into them more once they were confirmed Adora was in the right for being paranoid. Basically creating a very unhealthy loop).
Anyway tangent aside, I meant to say that Bow and Glimmer's reactions probably mean that Adora has been doing this since she got to Bright Moon and are starting to get irritated with her.
Tumblr media
Man Glimmer’s kinda mean to Adora when she’s really anxious, u can see her comments really hurt her bc they really don’t take her seriously, which like, makes sense bc they don’t know how SW or the Horde is like but damn, maybe cool off a bit????? Y’all have no idea what the Horde was like. I bet that Adora really missed Catra in moments like this, she was the only one who really understood.
But also Adora is SO bad at communicating, so it's very likely that she hasn't really said much about the Horde in general.
Tumblr media
Adora adopting Catra's go-to pose when she feels vulnerable PLEEK.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe I'm just coping and they always animate characters making this same pose when they feel insecure/vulnerable but I don't think so?
Tumblr media
Girlie this is not the flex u think it is, please get that smirk off your face. (The way she is so proud of herself bc she was absolutely praised for this back in the Horde, god.)
Tumblr media
Adora's like whoa dude why is this stranger hugging Glimmer. (because she doesn't know what an aunt is).
Which is also important to talk about. Adora can't stand not knowing things, which is why she pretends she knows what a party is, and an aunt is. She was probably punished if she didn't learn fast enough, or didn't know the answer to something, so Bow and Glimmer actually letting her not know things and show that it's okay, is very healing for her.
Tumblr media
This is a very important episode for understanding Glimmer as well. She parallels Adora in the sense that she also feels that she has to bury her emotions with others. With Angella, it's because she feels like she is letting her down: she feels like her powers are weak, and she is not a good commander, so her mom is probably disappointed in her.
With Casta it's more like she is an extremely passive aggressive person and any boundary she tries to place is disregarded and flipped onto her, so Glimmer is put in the position of comforting Casta after she tries to put boundaries. So Glimmer simply bites her tongue and doesn't speak her mind.
Casta is honestly a very toxic family member to Glimmer very often. God she reminds me too much of some family members of mine. They like to act like they're a safe space to talk about your issues, but in reality it's just easier to pretend that everything is fine and agree with everything they say, because when you DO bring something up, they just guilt-trip you.
Tumblr media
Bow is right, like he doesn't want Adora to feel left out and to not even have the option to go to the eclipse ceremony, but I also really understand Glimmer. Like, again. This is not a healthy family member to be around. Glimmer has probably talked about how uncomfortable she feels around Casta sometimes, due to her passive-aggressive behavior. And I would also feel very betrayed if my best friend, who knew this, did not back me up when I said I did not want to spend more time with her.
Tumblr media
I think Adora defaults to trying to make adults like her bc of her relationship with authority figures. (And she doesn't understand the context of why Glimmer doesn't want to be around Casta.)
Actually I can see it as her thinking that Casta's behavior is normal bc Shadow Weaver is also passive aggressive with her, just in a different way.
SW does not do the joke-filled, self-deprecating passive aggressiveness, hers is more like thinly veiled threats and belittlement/condescension ("do not let this happen again" in a sweet voice to kid Adora, "she was always [paranoid] like this" talking to Glimmer about Adora as if she's not in the room)
Whereas Casta is more victim playing, guilt-tripping, resentment and insinuations. ("why are u visiting, oh is it once in a blue moon already?" "don't you want to spend more time with your aunt?" "I certainly don't want to waste your time")
Oh god Castaweaver's communication style would be,,, a lot. They literally interact like bitter ex-wives when they do interact. (I ship it, but oh god would they be TOXIC without any therapy skahdka)
Tumblr media
This is literally what it feels like when non AD(H)D people tell me that sitting down with my eyes closed is the only way to meditate. Like PLEASE let me move. My life changed when I realized there were movement meditations out there that actually worked.
Tumblr media
These gender neutral swimsuits mean everything to me.
I mean I love the transmasc Bow hcs but since Nate Stevenson drew Sea Hawk and Micah wearing these style of swimsuits for the 5th anniversary comic, I also think these are just regular swimsuits on Etheria which is so cool tbh.
Tumblr media
Oh yea so as I said in the beginning, Adora has absolutely shared NOTHING about her past. She has probably talked about the Horde's tactics and stuff but not anything personal. She absolutely feels guilt about it and feels responsible.
Tumblr media
The fact that Glimmer says “mom stuff” to the things Adora says (SW taught me how to read, tie my boots, subvert the enemy and be victorious in battle) is so sad. I like how they integrate being raised during a war in subtle ways like this.
Tumblr media
Bow is such an awesome friend to Adora tbh. He validates her feelings and asks if her way of “relaxing” - hitting things, would go better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way Adora runs towards Catra's voice to reassure her RAH
Tumblr media
It's really sad and upsetting that Catra does end up using this exact language with Adora down the line. Actually SW probably used the same phrases Catra told Adora when they argued back in the Horde as a reference for this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadow Weaver uses sooo much touch as part of her manipulation tactics. She knows how touch starved people in the Horde are. But Adora is better at looking thru this tactic than Catra, and I think it's because she is not as touch starved as her + she has people in her life now who are showing her what healthy relationships (and physical touch) look like.
I wonder if the forehead touch is actually something she saw Catra and Adora do and that's why she uses it, or is it the other way around. Forehead touches being used by SW and them reclaiming it for themselves.
Tumblr media
I'm really glad Adora is already realizing that the conditional praise SW gave her is not love. This was a person who very recently thought that there was no manipulation in the Horde at all, so this is is a huge milestone for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The parallels between Light Spinner and here.
Interesting difference in words. Adora's "cruel" vs Catra's "weak". The line right before this one, Catra asks "what could I have possibly done to deserve the way you treated me?" Which means that on some level, she does believe she deserves the treatment, bc there MUST have been a reason, right? There must be something she can fix to get treated right, otherwise there is something inherently wrong with her and she doesn't deserve love bc of it (which is what SW always told her).
She is not seeing SW as necessarily wrong or cruel. Especially bc SW justifies this abuse by saying that she just was preparing her for the world, as if she was just expressing a harsh truth Catra did not want to hear.
Catra instead uses the word "weak" to describe her, because if there is no love that she deserves, then there is only winning and losing and your value is tied to whether u can succeed or fail.
It's also interesting that Shadow Weaver laughs when Adora says "I'm nothing like you" vs in Light Spinner when she responds "oh but you are like me".
Also the fact that Catra doesn't say the "you used me" line until later, because she really wanted to believe this was a genuine act of kindness.
Tumblr media
I can only put like 2 more images on this post sahkdkh otherwise I would put more, but I love how well this show portrays manipulative parents: SW runs through every tactic she has here: praise, belittlement, false kindness, preying on Adora's insecurities.
I also LOVE this shot wow. SW is the one preventing Adora from reaching the "light" of her self-worth and power.
Tumblr media
I find it really sad that although she has no explicit power over Adora anymore, her teachings are so internalized that it still affects her until the end of the show. It just means a lot to me that this show understands relapses and how mental health works. Just because you are aware of something, it doesn't mean it will not come back, or in a more implicit way that you're not fully aware of.
Trauma becomes a part of you and your behaviours, even without that person there.
Tumblr media
The way she is absolutely thinking of Catra here :(
Now THESE were rambles, damn. We're getting into the big leagues now. You know what's next? PRINCESS PROM BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
STRAP IN CUZ I GOT A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THAT EPISODE.

Chapter 1: You're On You're Own
FNAF Mermaid!DCA x Y/N (SFW)
You stare out the forward viewport—the window. The sub’s only window. Blood splashes against the thick glass. It is human blood. It fills an ocean on Moon FZ-87. The atmosphere is dark and barren, speckled with the ghostly light of stars that have been gone for decades. This is the last view you have of anything above the blood ocean surface. Futility sinks roots into your ribs.
Word Count: ~2,700 Warnings: See tags.
A/N: First things first, although this is an Iron Lung AU, I have taken some creative liberties to keep up the horror/atmosphere within a written medium and have included additional details to the sub as well as added events/objects within this story to make it a proper DCA AU rather than just a written account of the video game. I will also include my interpretations of the game and what I believe the lore is implying. This also includes the DCA as monstrous blood ocean mers and how they will play into the story.
Iron Lung is a video game and one I highly recommend watching a playthrough of or playing yourself. If you are unfamiliar with Iron Lung, you don't have to know of it in order to read this fic. I believe I wrote it so that anyone might enjoy it.
Please note the tags and content warning for this fic. It will be dark and heavy, including suicidal thoughts, psychological horror, reality-bending, and blood. It's an ocean of blood, I can't stress that enough. Chapter warnings will not include those tags I just listed as that will be consistent throughout the fic, but I will include chapter warnings for specific events such as drowning or injury.
Enjoy!

FNAF Sun and Moon x yn Fic List Update
This is update 1 for my FNAF Sun and Moon x yn fic list. www.tumblr.com/violetstormms/710457016218435584/sunmoon-fnaf-fanfic-recommendation-list?
As always look at the tags and read at your own discretion as while I will try not to include explicit material in this list, the stories can contain other mature content. If you want to see future updates to this list feel free to follow the “Violetstormm fic list updates” tag
When I have more time I will also be adding fics from my mermay list as well just to have everything in one place. The list will still be left up though as people seem to like that one.

POP! Goes the weasel.
The Fazbear corporation has always been surrounded by dark rumors, so was every other heavy hitter in the entertainment industry. Conspiracy theories and creepypastas abound. But when you took a job working as a repair technician, it slowly becomes more and more clear as to why you're the only one anymore. And in the dark crypt-like atmosphere of parts and services, you can't help but wonder if there isn't some grain of truth to everything you've heard.

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Very tough question right off the bat LMAO. I'm proud of different works for different reasons...Embers was my very first FZ fic so it has a special place in my heart...I wouldn't be here without it...Ab Initio is probably what I would show as my "best" writing...and of course I'm proud of As Leaves in Autumn because 30 characters in 30 days (many of whom I hadn't written before and have very little canon material) is no joke.
But I think I have to go with Thousand Five. It's the longest fic I've ever written and my first game/mainverse one (even if it's not done yet). It's also the one with the largest integrated cast (As Leaves has lots of characters but they're not all talking to each other or part of an overarching plot lol). Although it's mainly focused on the growth of Falcon and Stewart's relationship, I do think that the interactions with/between the supporting characters are important as well and bring more life to the world of GX and F-Zero in general. I worked hard to think about ways to integrate various characters and have them serve a purpose that didn't seem too contrived or "why is Hobi da bus driver" LMAO. I particularly like Gazelle and Gomar and Shioh's appearances, as well as Robert's surprise friendship with Daigoroh.
There's a whole whacky world to explore in the main series games that's wide open in a way that's freer than the animeverse thanks to how little plot/story/interactions the main series games have, and Thousand Five is me playing sandbox with it. And shoving Falcon and Stewart's romance in the pressure cooker along the way but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Now...I just need to figure out how to get from the midpoint to how I outlined the rest of the fic going...
~
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
I didn't write as much this year to have a big selection to choose from but it was still tough choosing between Drown and Shelter and Radiant LMAO. Drown more for the concept than the actual writing as it's fairly short, but I really REALLY love the ideas of 1) cyborg Andy, 2) Andy needing help and showing vulnerability, 3) Robert being the one he trusts with that as his doctor, longtime friend, and lover. Shelter is probably obvious bc I keep yapping about it but I love dragon Andy and dragon Ryu and the integration of GPL lore into the world of Flight Rising.
But I have to go with Radiant because of both the writing and the concept. Not just because I wax poetic about Ryu in the sunset all the time in it, but because it was a story I had the idea for back in January 2023 and finally managed to put into words this year. Never too late to bring back a fic idea!!! Light Visions (the series it's part of) is where I get to indulge my desire to see Jack being serious and Ryu being taken care of as well as my desire to use 9001 flowery metaphors about them lmao. Radiant is something I wrote as if in a fugue and emerged from dazed and without sense of time.
Jack supporting Ryu is something I write almost all the time when I do write them, but more than any other story I've written I feel like Radiant contains the full range of my perceptions of their relationship. The stupid banter, the arguing, the teasing and ribbing. But also the deep bond between them, the hard-earned trust and devotion, the care and understanding that might not show on the surface of rivalry, the heartache of knowing exactly what's at stake and the determination to fight regardless. The evolution of Jack and Ryu's relationship onscreen is something that is so compelling to me and I feel like Radiant is the physical manifestation of me taking all my passion and feeling for them and pouring it into this story.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the support on my F-zero drawings <3 I love seeing you guys pop up in my notifications :) I post my stuff to instagram too but I get only like 1-2 likes on there anymore so I've been so discouraged from posting my art for awhile. I'm glad people on here and the FZ discord like my drawings so much <3

Panasonic 3DO - Super Wing Commander
Title: Super Wing Commander / スーパーウイングコマンダー
Developer: ORIGIN Systems
Publisher: Electronic Arts Victor
Release date: 9 July 1994
Catalogue No.: FZ-SJ1653
Genre: Space Combat Simulation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having played the Super Famicom and Mega CD versions of Wing Commander 1 I decided to take a bit of a breather and pop in the 3DO update of it titled Super Wing Commander for a change.
Super Wing Commander was an enhanced port of the PC version of Wing Commander released for the 3DO in 1994. This version featured, among other additions, enhanced graphics, additional missions, and voice acting. Whereas some ports of this nature go horribly wrong, Super Wing Commander is a perfect example of where an enhanced port went right.
For this rendition of the game, we get the missions of the original PC game, both Secret Missions expansion packs and a new line of missions set between the two expansions. This leaves us with a very large bank of missions to play through, each offering a varying variety of objectives, playable fighters, and enemy spacecraft to battle. Missions are played from the cockpit of your chosen space fighter. You guide the ship in three dimensions in this manner, engaging in firefights with enemy ships, escorting supply ships, or any number of other objectives.
This is all accomplished in surroundings that look very pretty. The original looked good for its time and this version has been updated to look good for its slightly later release. The cockpit you pilot from also features a number of interesting details; however this leads to one of the game’s biggest problems, in my opinion, being that this blocks a larger portion of the screen than it really should. This makes it difficult to see the action at times, but it is a small nuisance easily overcome.
The story of Super Wing Commander centers around the crew of the Tiger’s Claw, a Terran ship on the frontlines of a war between Earth and a feline alien race called the Kilrathi. Through the course of the missions, you undertake the direction of the war is determined. Complete your missions well and the Terran forces will march towards victory. Fail repeatedly and the war turns towards the Kilrathi. Added are the expansion missions, guiding the war further through so-called “secret missions” for the Terran Confederation.
This seems like a good opportunity to mention the branching mission design signature to many entries in the franchise. Missions can be completed without fully completing their objectives, leading to alternate missions as the game continues. Put simply, winning a mission completely sends you to one mission, while failing a mission will send you to a different one. This leads to multiple game paths that can be taken in the war, some ending positively and some negatively.
In conclusion, Super Wing Commander is one of the best games on the 3DO. Fans of flight simulation games will be immediately drawn to it, while those who have never tried one before will not go wrong with this one. I actually really love it as much as I love Wing Commander 3 which is also on the 3DO.

Day 1 of the Love Your Collection challenge, a vinyl challenge that encourages us to connect with what we already have (as opposed to thinking about what else we want to buy) and love our collections! Day 1 has us introduce ourselves with a record from our earliest days collecting and think about why we started and why we continue.
So… hi, I’m Maddie, and I listen to Frank Zappa 🤭 Jazz From Hell was the first FZ record I found on vinyl, in a little antique shop in college sometime around 2008. I’d already been collecting for a couple years, since high school, but my seriousness was ratcheting up. I started because I just thought records were neat in a way CDs weren’t, and because I listened to a lot of old music and it felt cool to experience it the way its first listeners did. These reasons hold true today. Around this time another reason started to creep in. This record and a couple others began to alert me to the superior sound possibilities of vinyl, and after some equipment upgrades, I could hear the difference. Those remain my reasons to collect: connection to the past, better sound, and they’re just cool 😁 I have a couple more Zappa records these days too.

Overall Dublin rammstein concert things:
-No idea what time the queue actually started because the promoter said 2, we arrived at like 1:30 and there were already a good amount of people there
-I really really hated how they did that weird separation of men and women and then shoved us all together afterwards. Kinda felt like a crowd crush situation just waiting to happen.
-I kinda wanna know where the drama of the FZ was or who is that guy who apparently goes to all the shows and shoves himself to the front? Someone said he's always on Paul's side, which is where we were (was it the people with the metallic blanket things? I was a bit near them but not close enough to interact)
-the show was amazing! But the people nonstop filming the entire damn show sucked. The guys in front of me did that. So if anyone watches a Dublin concert and hears some American lady laughing maniacally everytime the pyro went off, or "Damn, Ollie's really fit!" or something about Flake and his fine golden ass or "maybe the pussy cannon will take out all these phones" That was me :)
