When you need that shade of blue and can't buy it... My findings show that the orientation of the fabric doesn't appear to affect the dyeing process. This happened to be true for white polyester fleece, but further fabrics will need to be tested to see if this hypothesis holds. When items are dyed for the same period, the color is quite consistent. When the water is cooler, the rate at which the fabric dyes slows down as seen with the gradient tick with 15 minutes at the very end of the bath versus the cloths with 15 minutes at the very beginning of the bath. One thing I wish I did instead was use a thread to indicate the line markings instead of sharpie since the sharpie did bleed a little. In the lower left corner I've attempted to dye thread 3 different ways for 60 minutes. The internet said you can't dye thread on the spool, so I had to try it (not everything you read on the internet is right, eh?). The 2nd way was on a closer spool spun my sewing machine. They 3rd way is to place it in a small container, and soak the threads individually. I checked the plastic melting point of all the spools, all of which had a melting point at 110-130 C, so if I use boiling water, it shouldn't melt, and it indeed did not melt. #cosplaywip #scienceexperiment #fabric #fabrics #fabricart #fabricscience #fabricdying #fabrictesting
