finding out about nintendo fans reacting poorly to emio makes me feel crazy. like, you got excited about them putting out a teaser for a horror game and you were disappointed because... it's a visual novel? do you have any idea how rich the genre of "horror visual novel" is? they're some of the most memorable games I've ever played. either play the game you got excited for, which has a free demo available right now, or shut up and go play something else. I'm sick of the entire medium of visual novels being discredited and ignored

Super Light spoilers ahead for "the girl who stand behind"

Firstly I want to open with the fact I love the game so far and loved "the missing heir" from the same serie. They are 80s and 90s games remake so I understand some creative descisions about why the main character is 17 in "the missing Heir" and 15 in "the girl who stand behind"...

However...

Holyshit!!

THAT DETECTIVE UTSUGI??

HE FOUND A 15 YRS OLD RUNAWAY WITH MISSING PARENTS AND WAS LIKE

"Its free real estate Assitant!"

Then I tought ok i guess its fine if he helps him a bit but then not even 20 min in HE BRINGS HIM TO SEE A DEAD BODY!!??

And then I thought "oh the mystery must be happening in the school the detective enrolled his 15 YEARS OLD ASSISTANT HE TOOK IN FROM THE STREET AT BUT NOOOO!" THE KID IS WORKING FULL TIME ON DETECTIVE WORK/MURDER CASE ALONE, SLEEPING AT THE OFFICE AND NOT GOING TO SCHOOL!

Like omg can someone make sure the kid gets all of his meals and proper sleep??

ok ok guys ok. emio fandom emioheads of the jury i have just found something REALLY interesting

so remember that one post they did on twitter/nitter where they revealed emio's whole deal and his (heavily filtered) "voice"??

it seems that on the korean channel for nintendo they posted an... actual clip of the game. and smth REALLY caught my eye so im gonna ramble about it under the cut

so when emio shows up on the screen, i noticed his feet were. not on the ground! so i paused took another look and...

the way his arms hang forward. the way his head is tilted to the side constantly... why does he look like a hanging corpse?

EVEN IN THE INITIAL TEASER HE LOOKS LIKE THIS LIKE. THE HEAD TILT. THE HANDS IN FRONT THE WEIRD ANGLE OF THE FEET LIKE HE'S JUST FLOATING THERE

i talked things out w a friend in dms and it raised the question: is emio even HUMAN? (if he turned out to be a ghost it wouldnt be a stretch bc of the other games prior...) is this why the cases went dead for 18 years?? how do you even ARREST a GHOST???

is this what the "suicide" part of the rating was talking about? it would make sense motive-wise considering he puts an emphasis on smiles/eternal joy in exchange for lives, and the fact that most of these victims die of asphyxiation. is he coping with this reality by taking it out on others??

I finished Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, the mystery this time wasn't as great and rather obvious but what really made it worth to me was how much focused on the horror it was, i felt very uneasy the whole time, specially when characters appeared in the background suddenly, it almost made me flinch a little.

I am also a sucker for ghost girl stories so i still really loved it overall.
