It's me and my brother against Fatalis! Remember when i said i wasnt enjoying world alone..... i just bought it again and restarted it to play with my brogher OWJAJAJAJAJA. We managed to kill Fatalis in 2 a week ago. 1 cart left and 7 seconds. It was supposed to be a warm up before joining an online session... Neat! Finished World before Wilds dropped yehee.

Okay, I want to talk about Fatalis, can I talk about Fatalis? I've been dying to talk about Fatalis.

A lot of what I hear about Fatalis is "oh, it's a traditional dragon, how fitting as the big most fina-"

Shush shush shush, shut up, I want to talk now.

There's so many little touches to Fatalis' design that I think aren't appreciated enough! There's all these extra details that really emphasize Fatalis' malevolence.

Firstly, the neck! I love Fatalis' neck, it's so much longer than it needs to be and it lets it be posed in specific ways.

Firstly, it loves to bend its neck like this:

Giving it this really hunched posture. This, of course, allows its head to be on the same level as the Hunter, but it didn't need to do that. Its low body plan would already put it down there, but this posture gives it a strangely wicked demeanor, its so abnormal to anything else we've fought.

It even does this when it flies, where another dragon would puff itself up all proud, Fatalis' neck hangs down over its chest, looking down on its opponents with its all consuming disdain for life.

(Fatalis does also puff its chest out, of course, you can see it in that top image and the neck also helps accentuate that posturing.)

And I'm not just making this up, the Hobbit movies do the same thing with Smaug's design: A long, snaking neck that can be posed all sorts of ways to give a dragon so much more personality.

And that low body plan, watching Fatalis move across the arena, its long neck and tail sometimes make it come across almost like a snake, crawling over stone and hunters alike.

Finally, there's when it "stands."

Its short legs, which allow it to glide across the ground as mentioned before, make it almost seem as though it's sitting rather than standing. Fatalis doesn't stand up, it sits as though the scorched earth were a throne from which to spit fire at you.

Fatalis' mannerism and lore and design as a "traditional" dragon are all well and good, but I think writing it off as a "traditional" dragon undersells some very particular traits in its design that all help to give it that malevolent presence that makes it beloved.

And that's not to mention the head! Those curved back horns, those narrow eyes, the maw that can read from a smirk to a grimace from different angles.

It's really a masterpiece of a "traditional" dragon design.

Fatalis - Dragon of the Evil Eye

Been putting off this one for a while because I didn't think I would pull it off or not. But since he's my all time fav elder dragon, I had to draw him. I did struggle with the colors and anatomy of the wings, etc, but he turned out kinda nice :>

Earlier this year I released Fatalis instructions for my supporters HERE! But today I just released the Crimson Fatalis for them too HERE!

Alongside Fatalis I also built Castle Schrade which comes with functioning artillery; Ballista, Roaming Ballista, and Dragonator! Even the gate raises to block the dragon's flames!

The Fatalis was a massive project that took me a long time to finally finish, and I'm overall very happy with the final product.

Note; if you plan on building one of these yourself, be advised that they are very heavy and take some finesse to stand. They really only have one viable position, and that's the standing position seen above. They will hold it on a shelf though, I've had this White Fatalis standing for almost a year now. Just keep away from cats!!

Fatalis is FINALLY DONE! The eyes, the mouth, the claws, a little more chest definition, ALL DONE! And sealed and on the shelf!

Honestly kinda tempted to do Crimson and White Fatalis…. Still, one thing atta time!
