Anyone jonesing for another taste of the No Doubt reunion that electrified the Coachella stage last year got their wish at the FireAid concert on Thursday night, as the band donned the plaid again and tore through three classics from their early catalog: “Just a Girl,” “Don’t Speak” and “Spiderwebs.”
The band wasted no time getting the audience on their feet, with singer Gwen Stefani exhorting her love for L.A. and leading the audience through two singalongs in three songs, throwing in evening-specific references during one like “I’m just a girl… in L.A.!” Her voice was in top form and the band was as tight as ever, which makes us wonder why they’re not rocking arenas and stadiums all over the world — and wish even more that they would.
“It’s all about love tonight and we love you Los Angeles!” Stefani yelled. Their set was over much too soon but in less than 15 minutes they’d blown the roof off of the Forum and shook loose the cobwebs from some of the earlier performances.

I’m really curious as to what/if anything Gwen is up to this year too. So far it seems like last year was Gwen’s year to be really busy and this year is shaping up for Blake to be really busy. I wonder if they coordinated it that way? Probably not really, just how it worked out. Last year Gwen had Super Bowl, ND/Coachella, new album with lots of promo/performances/interviews, the Voice etc. Because of Purple Irises Blake was able to be present for a lot of those too. He had tour and Vegas Ole Red opening and new record label signing but that was mostly it. This year so far we know Blake has tour, Vegas, the Road show, Keith Whitley documentary, and new music? Gwen was there for Vegas and may make some of his tour stops. For her though other than a couple of festival shows and that Audacy event, she doesn’t seem busy. She teased the song snippet so there may be new music coming. You are right with her sometimes projects seem announced out of left field that she’s been quietly working on. I hope we find out more soon, but I also hope Gwen and Blake don’t have to spend too much time apart since it looks like he will be super busy this year. The dilemma of being a fan of each but also of their relationship.
Part of me wonders if she's negotiating something to do with No Doubt. It was just interesting to me how quickly the FireAid appearance changed from just her to the whole band, and Tragic Kingdom turns 30 this year.
I think it is busy for Blake right now because of Vegas extending into his tour, and this The Road show going on right now, but once that is all over, all I can think that he has coming up this year would be a probable new album and promo for that. Which will be time-consuming for a bit, but I wouldn't expect it to be over a long extended period of time, mostly just the timeframe surrounding the release. I kind of wonder if he will release it in May, but he will need to announce it soon if that's the case since we're already in March. And also I guess he would do promo for The Road when it starts airing in the fall.

KTLA’s announcement of the FireAid concert said that the Intuit stage was set up to be pop oriented and the forum stage was set up to be more rock oriented (hence more bands) and then listed the artists. There are a lot of current pop artists performing. This is just a guess but Gwen probably told Irving she’d do it immediately. As he got more pop artists signing on to do it, he probably discussed with Gwen performing with No Doubt instead to fill out the rock stage. She or he talked to the guys and they all agreed. I can see Gwen being very generous in this situation because it is a charity fundraiser and because she has a loyalty to Irving because of the Voice “saving” her.

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Some of the biggest names in pop, rock and country are coming together to raise funds for victims of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires and assist with the recovery.
A benefit concert, FireAid, will take place on Jan. 30 on two stages, one at Intuit Dome and the other at The Kia Forum, organizers announced on Thursday.
More than 15 music acts have been announced so far, including Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, P!nk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, Tate McRae, and performing together for the first time, Dave Matthews and John Mayer.
Additional artists will be announced in the coming days.
This special event is being produced by Shelli, Irving, and the Azoff family in conjunction with Live Nation and AEG Presents. Proceeds will be directed to a new nonprofit that supports displaced families, helps rebuild infrastructure, and improves fire prevention technologies and strategies to ensure Los Angeles is better prepared for wildfires in the future.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 22. Tap here for FireAid ticket information.
Fans across the globe will be able to make contributions to the cause, as FireAid will be broadcast and streamed live on Apple Music and the Apple TV app, Max, iHeartRadio, KTLA+, Netflix/Tudom, Paramount+, Prime Video and the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch, SiriusXM, exclusively on “LIFE with John Mayer,” Spotify, SoundCloud, Veeps, and YouTube, and at select AMC Theatre locations in 70 US markets. iHeartRadio will serve as the national audio partner to FireAid, using its more than 860 radio stations, its digital platforms and the iHeartRadio app.
KTLA is a broadcast and streaming partner of FireAid. KTLA Vice President and General Manager Janene Drafs said the station reached out to its partners at Intuit Dome in the early stages of planning for the concert to see how we could help.
“They immediately welcomed KTLA into the conversation. From the beginning, they knew this concert needed to be about more than just the music; it also had to share the stories of the personal loss and of the heroic efforts of our First Responders,” said Drafs. “As a local news organization, we are both humbled and honored to provide footage from the fire lines and share some of the significant stories we have reported with the organizers of FireAid. Those images captured by KTLA will be integrated into this unprecedented streaming event.”
