this is a different au where will quits the fbi and becomes a painter (if im not wrong). abigail is alive and works for him. i read this awhile ago and i remember loving it because of how sarcastic will was. one of my notes was: will was so desperate to open up (not sure why but this man is so touch starved and craved for affection in the show so i guess it's canon accurate). i also have a soft spot for fics with abigail in it because she deserves the world.

i just finished reading this 2 days ago and it was an experience. i loved how well paced it was. the writing really matched the same vibe of the show. both hannibal and will were written quite accurately to how i feel they would react in the show itself. the way both of them interacted in this fic was realistic and how i wish i could erase my mind of this fic so i could experience it again for the first time.

Will does the only reasonable thing that someone fresh out of a mental hospital with no support system does - he leaves, and goes on a road trip to the Pacific Northwest.

this fic is THE hannigram fic, fight with the wall. kidding. this is more of a character study of will (hannibal doesn't even show until halfway through). the writing is top tier and just like the fic before it really does match the vibe of the show. i personally am not a big fan of smut (i don't mind it, i just prefer plot over that) and this book barely had any in it which is a godsend.

4.  ...And This One is Just Right by Sabi

When an injured BSHCI escapee breaks into Dr. Graham's vet clinic, it doesn't end cleanly. Surely it couldn't happen again? Or again?

will is a vet in this universe and i'm not sure why but i pictured him younger? it's only 4 chapters if im not wrong and it's a fun read! the characterisation of will is not as accurate to the show but to be fair it is a different universe and i still love this fic dearly.

His night terrors force him into an ultimatum; couple's therapy, or their relationship is done. Will meets his new therapist, Hannibal Lecter, and his entire world is turned upside down. (this is one of the first hannigram fics i ever read and i still come back to it often it is so good)

Dianthus Barbatus by Cynthia_Cross (84k)(Explicit) - Set 10 years before the start of the show, Will and Hannibal meet in the dead of night while dumping the bodies of their respective victims in the same place. (THIS IS SOME GOOD SHIT HERE)

Rating: E | Word Count: 25,466

When Will Graham storms into Hannibal's house muttering about kissing Alana Bloom, the good doctor makes Will an offer: Pretend to date Hannibal in order to prove to Alana that Will is not only stable but capable of being in a relationship. When Alana is convinced Will is the man of her dreams, Hannibal will step aside and Will can get his girl. What could possibly go wrong?

Really fun and balances that fun with some excellent writing. Spot on dynamic, fantastic chemistry.

highway 190 by occultiism

Rating: M | Word Count: 10,343

He has found the Devil and wants to live inside of him. There is no more room for God. / Chronological snapshots throughout Will Graham's life.

Arguably one of the best-written Hannibal fics (and fics in general) ever. Hard-hitting, painful throughout but like a punch that hits the knots right out of you. If that makes sense?

The Mongoose and the Mouse by Hiding Now

Rating: E | Word Count: 109,582

With Mother's and Father's Day impending, Will has been feeling particularly irascible. He has parent issues (as do we all) so as a therapeutic exercise, Hannibal suggests something novel: a vacation together to recapture the childhood he never had. His caveats: Will must choose someplace he's never been, someplace he always wanted to go as a child. The idea is ridiculous. Will can only think of one place. But there is no way Hannibal will agree to go to a place where turkey legs are a staple, and cartoon characters offer hugs on every corner. Will calls his bluff. Hannibal calls it right back. OR ~Will and Hannibal spend a week at Walt Disney World for perfectly sound psychological reasons~

It's the disney fic! Always fun to read back.

AU of Season 2. This is my favorite Hannibal fic, and one of the best-written at that. Every paragraph is rich in flavor. I would definitely eat this. This is the fic I recommend the most often.

With it, it brings a baby, a legally binding birth certificate, and a hope chest full of gifts for her. Nobody except Will thinks this is weird. (Alternatively, what if the Scarlet Letter was a dark romantic comedy?)

So good and heartfelt throughout. I wished this was canon.

Whenever I go into a new fandom, I look for pru's works first. This was no exception, and it's so fucking good. It's a genuine thriller. There's no description, and pru doesn't tag, so I will let you go in blind. An exciting read, brilliantly written both stylistically, plot-wise, and character-wise. The dynamics here are wonderful !! Hard-recommend.

Pavlova - Chapter 1 - nbcravenstag - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Pavlova by nbcravenstag is a fantastic au where Will was pole dancer in his past and has to resume his place as one for a case. I love how the team's dynamic is written so jovially about the whole situation. Their possessive!Hannibal is delightful. And, Will when he is performing its a perfect show of how fun a confident will is. 10/10

Like a Lucid Dream - Chapter 1 - Hiding Now (HidingNow) - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Like A Lucid Dream by Hiding Now (HidingNow) is such a good post fall fic. It has my favorite trope of Will and Hannibal writing each other while Hannibal's in prison and I love the insight that brings to Will's characterization. It's full of fun twists and turns and has the most delightfully feral Will. 10/10 totally recommend.

perda de memória - bleakmidwinter - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Perda de Memoria by bleakmidwinter is another excellent post fall fic with hannibal losing his memories. The emotional rollarcoaster that Will goes through along this fic had me wanting to cry. 10/10 good prose

A Faint Glimmer - berlynn_wohl - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

A Faint Glimmer by berlynn_wohl is smut with demi!Will. I love ace fics with my hannigram and this one does not disappoint! I like how the fic handles Will's sexuality, laying down his history with it and how it affects his character, along with delivering good smut. 10/10

Beauty Not Needed Here - krabellen - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Beauty Not Needed Here by krabellen delivers another good ace fic! This one is an ace!Hannibal fic. I love how vulnerable it paints Hannibal, how open he acts with Will post fall, and the snuggles are cute. 10/10

The New Arrangement - viaorel - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

The New Arrangement by viaorel has a fic with Mischa and Will being buddies at the FBI Academy when Will runs into Mischa's weird brother. I love this fic for the Mischa/Will friendship along with all the details that are fun to look at like Hannibal being a (gasp) vegan in this one. Mischa is also a sassy lil shit in this fic and its delightful.

Leave Your Message after the Tone by OneWhoSitsWithTurtles is a delicious fic. I love the premise of Will calling Hannibal's cell to hear his voice while hes imprisoned and leaving messages. It's just good shit. 10/10

Axiom - BattyMadison - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Axiom by BattyMadison deliciously outlines Will's pain throughout this series and lets him spit that in Hannibal's face while also letting them reconcile. Will also fucks off to Alaska like Eve and Villainelle should've What more could you want? 10./10

Time travel fic! Rewind for a Better Tomorrow by loptrl is so fucking good at giving a Hannibal who loves his man enough to figure out time travel and fix it so Will doesn't suffer as much. So sweet. So good. The twist halfway through is the best. 10/10

when memories snow (when memories melt) - antiheroblake - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Oh I love this fic by antiheroblake. It's hurt/comfort postfall where Will gets sick with pneumonia but doesn't want Hannibal to fuss over him since Hannibal gave him a bunh of medical trauma. It hurts but its goood 10/10

A Christmas to Remember - Chapter 1 - EarthsickWithoutYou - Hannibal (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Hallmark Christmas but Hannigram. Thats it and its goood man. Hannigram got together and divorced but run into each other again when they show up at the same resort for Christmas with new partners where Santa conspires to set them up again. 10/10

So, I caved in, and this is a list of Hannigram fanfictions that I really like that I still remember the main plot after years. A lot of them are very long and very good to get lost in, because that's the best feeling ever when reading fanfics really.

When Hannibal met Will Graham (the man who had, three years prior, been mistaken for the Chesapeake Ripper), he expected amusement. What he got was his first taste of obsession. Dark and bitter in the back of his throat but achingly sweet on the tongue. He knew at once that this feeling, this Man, would consume him. And Hannibal would consume Will right back

This fic is so delicious; it's so dark and kinky. I think it has any kinks you wish for in it. Basically a found family trope, but what if all of us are serial killers. This fic says fuck to power imbalance hater and turns it into a game. God knows how many Hannibal fics I've read, and this has the best Abigail. Anyway, 🤌 through and through.

One, Two, Three by Severus_divides_into_H

An excellent Hunger Games AU. I love how Hannigram are slowly coming together. The ending is unexpected yet made me went aww.

Following their descent down the precipice, Will is more than eager to explore his newly realized capacity for righteous violence. So when he catches a whiff of a string of seemingly unrelated homicides, he and Hannibal have no choice but to follow through the hunt.

An adventurous fic where Will is trying to embrace his newfound blood lust by hunting bad men. Featuring a team work with Freddy Lounds, which I think should happen more 😌

Along the way, he encounters the FBI consultant psychiatrist who got him brought in on the case, and slowly he comes to realise that Dr Hannibal Lecter's interest in him goes far beyond a professional curiosity. Can he find his lost memories and discover who he once was and, more importantly, who Dr Lecter really is?

A clever dystopian-ish AU with a great twist 🤌

Losing You Terrifies Me by A_David

Basically Will got amnesia after the fall and he keeps trying to kill Hannibal when he relapses. The story matches the title very well; it's so heartbreaking and frustrating. Featuring Morgan (Alana and Margot's son) and Wally (Molly's son) bonding with each other. They're supporting characters but are written so well. The sequel has just started, but the first one is complete enough to read.

The Chesapeake Bay by HigherMagic

Aka thee classic Hannigram reality TV AU. So, they put Hannibal cast in isolated house where each of them is hiding something. Love love this. A lot of murders. It has classic thriller movies feel to it.

What happens when a group of serial killers pick the absolute worst targets? A The Strangers (2008) AU with hints of comedy because Hannigram being the most dramatic couple of the century.

Where Will Graham is a lot greener, still a university student, and keeps getting poetry from the most famous serial killer. A lot of stalking, gaslighting, and age difference 🤌

Hitchhiker's Guide to Murder by bokunojinsei

LOVE this series. So, Will is a serial killer who poses as hitchhiker to find his victims but one day Hannibal gave him a ride. They're basically falling in love watching the other killing others. The second story is set during Mardi Gras where they ofc try to kill more people.

The Estate by (again) bokunojinsei

Or: What if Hannibal hadn't tried to eat Will after he drugged him in Florence? What if he'd decided to run away with him instead?

In contrast with the previous title, this one is very calm, very therapeutic, a character study, with a mind game ofc.

An iconic a/b/o fic (no mpreg) where Hannigram do mind games with other casts to get out of the prison. I remember there's a scene between Hannibal and Molly I love so much. The author also played a lot with what being true mates mean.

The Sacrificial Lamb by princesskay

Five years after Hannibal and Will disappeared, they are located in Spain, where all evidence points to Hannibal holding Will as his prisoner. Circumstantial evidence isn't enough to prove whether or not Will was complicit in Hannibal's crimes. It's up to Alana and Jack to figure out if Will is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome or if his attachment to his accused abuser is true love. It's up to Hannibal to once more find a way out of the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

An icon and a must-read tbqh. The prose is so beautiful and it really brings you into a journey.

Another icon. The ultimate Lecter-Graham child fic (not mpreg). The second title, Child of Wolf, is one of the best Silence of the Lambs adaptation ever. And as always, fuck Jack Crawford

Sorry for the delay! Unfortunately I love dark!will, and I don't read a lot of season 3 aus, so...

What about "each according to its kind" by chaparral_crown? It's a long fic (192k), season 2 au, about will leaving after he is released from the BSHCI. Will's characterization is amazing and I love this fic sooo much.

I also LOVE "Five Times Hannibal Visits Will and One Time He's Already Home (or: Coffee Cake)", by bones_2_be. It's set after digestivo. There's not much violence in this fic, but it's a beautiful slow burn in which Hannibal and Will talk a lot about themselves and learn to accept each other.

I have difficulties finding hannigram fics that match my interpretation of the characters >:( I feel like I should probably fix the problem by writing my own fic, but I really don't got the resources to do that right now, so I'm just dissatisfied instead
