day 10 **delayed post from saturday** malasana (garland pose) w/ prana mudra appo deepa bhavam ~ be a light my heart aches for the people of #nepal in reflecting on the past 10 days, i am reminded of a quote by margret mead, "never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has." change starts from within, i must be the change to inspire a new course of action through my thoughts, speech and actions ~ i can and will make an impact! one person does make a difference and mother earth needs all of us to realize this-- to wake the F$%! UP. the simple actions of being mindful of our resources are now requisite: water consumption--collecting water from shower to use for plants & flushing the toilet & shorter showers just say NO to plastic bottles, bags--no more plastic using 'green' cleaning products riding public transportation when possible eating foods both in season and locally lights out & lights off reduce, reuse, recycle all of this does make huge difference and consistency is critical i am so grateful for this community of learning, sharing and inspiration deep pranams to our fearless leader @shivarea108 #yogaisloveinaction #flowforchange #yogaforlight #pranavinyasa @prana

day 7 warrior 3 w/ a bow--rise for ‪#change ‪#bethechange as i contemplate myself as the bow & arrow, i feel in my heart, one person can & does make a difference. yet it is when each person rises up in total courage then consciousness gives rise to a whole new frequency as witnessed daily by each thoughtful post by the prana tribe. i have been examining my impact on the earth and what changes i can make. today i was able to ride public transportation (BART & MUINI), clean the kitchen floor with bon ami, donate both clothing & household items, purchase grains in bulk and transfer them to my reusable glass jars, yet i know there is more to be done so i am grateful for these 10days to reflect upon our impact on the earth and learn from each other on how to do better. as i mentioned in a prior post i am deeply concerned with all the cigarette butts strewn about on the ground--if you walk a dog you learn immediately how devastating the cigbutts are... i am also worried about all the plastic (at least in SF) we have banned plastic bags, but what about as a friend pointed out tonight over dinner the coffee to go lids. how many times do folks grab a coffee to go, in a single day that amounts to many, many, many plastic lids. i already have a reusable water bottle perhaps it is time to invest in a reusable coffee/tea container too thanks sallie for sharing your perspective & taking my photo below i simply adore the WHAT IF poem by ganga white and often read it aloud during restorative yoga classes. ‪#flowforchange ‪#yogaforlight ‪#pranavinyasa @shivarea108 @prana

Eco-challenge with @shivarea108 😋 and @prana #flowforchange #yogaforlight ‪#‎yogaenergyactivism‬! Day 5: #Ustrasana with Moksha Mudra I honour the air, and breathe deeply to inhale and exhale love. Today, as me and my boy walked through Bosco Fontana to free a hedgehog we found last night, I reflected upon my-our carbon footprint. What do I leave in air? Why in the woods I can freeely breathe while in the city if I dare fill my lungs I feel my nostrils burning? Why most of the people prefer to take the car, and be by themselves, rather than taking a bus!? Well that I know, it's because they're dirty, always late, and there are only a few of them that goes out of the city... Will I end up doing so when I start working? What is the carbon footprint of a building? If you ask yourself these questions, to begin, you'll realise how silly our system is. In fact we have chosen the worst path to live in this world...

day 3 cobra mudra vinyasa--#embody #water--be one with jala as i am most fortunate to live close to the #ocean it felt great to have the wet sand on my yoga pants emerging into the cobra & as it is a very typical SF day by the beach silvery grey skies with wind no bikini today so instead i opted for a beanie. water conservation practices include when yellow no need to flush every time, collecting water in the shower as it heats up for watering plants and the MOM tree outside ‪#flowforchange ‪#yogaforlight @shivarea108

day 2 pranam mudra vinyasa--awaken earth a humble bow to the earth on what you used to be vibrant green grass has been reduced to crabgrasses and weeds as we no longer water the lawn yet the tree behind me continues to persist, we lovingly refer to it as the MOM tree in honor of the last Christmas 2008 we had while my beloved mother still graced the planet and we had a small Christmas tree which was then transplanted and continues to thrive even in this ‪#‎drought‬ today i reflect upon all the ways to eat in a more mindful way, to eat in season and organic when possible. ‪#flowforchange ‬ ‪#yogaforlight‬ @shivarea108
